"If you identify as a woman" they'd like you to complete their survey to understand what women watch. twitter.com/Ri_Science/status/1232681119939731458

OP posts:
mindtheclegs · 26/02/2020 18:16

They have fixed the Facebook page.
Interesting!

Alienating rational women isn't a great way of being 'inclusive'.

Mrskeats · 26/02/2020 18:18

Oh dear they aren't too happy are they?

BiologyIsReal · 26/02/2020 18:20

Gosh. Someone must have rushed in with a biology for kindergarten book.....

CountFosco · 26/02/2020 18:20

I didn't get a comment box to fill in Sad. Looks like they are changing things because of the responses.

And, obviously it's amusing but look at all those men identifying as women for £20. Makes you wonder how many abusers would identify as women to gain access to female only spaces.

BiologyIsReal · 26/02/2020 18:22

Someone with media contacts please alert them to this Twitter feed.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2020 18:22

The thing about the corrected version is that the TWAW TWs will presumably believe it applies to them anyway, and I'd guess it might be tolerable to an enby who consciously doesn't 'identify' as a woman but knows they are one really, so it's actually more 'inclusive' - all it lacks is woke virtue signalling.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/02/2020 18:26

I wonder... If I had identified as male on my engineering course, would I still have got the sexist crap from a couple of lecturers? (One of whom the men on the course complained about it was that obvious... I was trying vto ignore it). 2004-2008 by the way.

Fallingirl · 26/02/2020 18:34

Shall we all report every single tweet to Humberside police? PC Gul gonna be busy.

definitelygc · 26/02/2020 18:37

"We’re really sad to see the negative feedback this tweet has received - we want to be as inclusive as possible."

In order words - stop being so mean you mean old ladies. Good to see from the ratio on that tweet that "be kind" is not going to work anymore. We've had enough.

Noooblerooble · 26/02/2020 18:40

I also found reading the replies so heartening. Thank you if you're on Twitter and you replied on there. The responses are pretty much unanimous. Women are sick of this shit. Many men are too.

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/02/2020 18:41

I tried to fill it in and couldn’t make any comments. Shame. I thought I was also going to have fun. Didn’t bother to leave my details. It’s also a fishing exercise.

HorseFlyOfExtraordinaryLength · 26/02/2020 18:41

That pasting is so funny. And heartening.

FredaFrogspawn · 26/02/2020 18:43

The only supportive comment I saw was a transwoman saying something like - now you know how much we’re hated.

I wish this idea would go away. No one hates an entire group of people - they hate an entire ideology and perhaps certain people within it who behave badly.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/02/2020 18:47

And, obviously it's amusing but look at all those men identifying as women for £20. Makes you wonder how many abusers would identify as women to gain access to female only spaces.

Nah, that shit never happens 🤔

Evenquieterlife33 · 26/02/2020 18:49

Science. It can’t be.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2020 18:52

"be kind" is not going to work anymore

It never did for women in science.

Perhaps what so particularly rankles about that word 'inclusive' is that it'd be a heck of a good idea to make science more fully inclusive of women before even starting down the path of making 'women' inclusive of males.

definitelygc · 26/02/2020 18:53

I wonder if anyone at the RI will actually understand why women are annoyed. I mean FFS, the idea that women are underrepresented in the sciences because of our "ladybrains" (and not our social conditioning) is the entire reason why women are discriminated against in STEM.

OverMy · 26/02/2020 18:58

Oh no our audience from our terrible data collection appears to be 90% men? How can we make more women feel like they are included?

Well, I’m not sure who thought positive engagement by women would happen after showing support for erasing women as a class.

fufulina · 26/02/2020 19:04

This is so so so heartening.

ChattyLion · 26/02/2020 19:06

Michael Faraday must be turning in her grave.

Mockers very good Grin

Oh the RI are ‘sad’ now are they.. the poor little sexist, unscientific twazzocks that they clearly are. We see you!

ListeningQuietly · 26/02/2020 19:08

This is the part that the RI is missing completely
www.theguardian.com/education/2018/jul/24/academic-writes-270-wikipedia-pages-year-female-scientists-noticed
and
www.abc.net.au/news/health/2019-07-26/women-in-stem-wikipedia-dharmica-mistry/11348876
and
cen.acs.org/careers/women-in-science/Wikipedias-women-scientists/96/i37

Role models need to be identified
not identify as

as the tweets make abundantly clear
the only people who IDENTIFY AS women, are men

ChattyLion · 26/02/2020 19:10

Oh sorry I just said something really unkind there. Got it wrong and must apologise.
Actually the RI said they were.... ‘really sad’.

I bring you the application form to join Women's Voices at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I wonder how the experiences of those who identify as women are useful?
