There’s an even bigger problem here, as if this nonsense wasn’t a huge problem all on its own.
When people in authority, and scientists, are spouting bullshit, and it’s perfectly clear to the average person in the street that it’s bullshit, science itself is undermined.
Dairy farmers and dog breeders and plant growers and Mrs Kafoops at the corner store, all understand the binary nature of sexual reproduction. The dairy farmer knows that his bull is bigger and stronger and probably more aggressive than his cows, so he’s got a handle on sexual dimorphism. Mrs Kafoops asks her son to carry in the potato sacks because she knows he’s got more upper body strength than she does.
So when these rational people hear stuff like “sex is a spectrum”, on the radio, while watching Angus tupping the Jersey girls, they’ll say, “fucking scientist is a loon”.
If authorities espouse rubbish which is clearly rubbish, why should ordinary people believe any of the rest of it? Why should they trust science on climate change or any other important issue, when science is busy telling them something they know isn’t true?
We’re in the process of turning back the Enlightenment when scientists are either peddling fiction in the service of a cultural agenda or refusing to speak the truth out of fear of the Inquisition.
