My feelings about men

BoxyLoxy · 24/01/2020 20:01

Name changed, obviously.

Im a regular on here although mostly lurking.

I was wondering how other people reconcile their feelings about how fucking awful the patriarchy is, how men as a group are basically toxic and even the 'good ones' have an incredibly low bar for being decent humans.

Im married, and seriously reconsidering it because I feel this ongoing utter despair at the myriad injustices I put up with. I would NEVER EVER pursue a relationship with a man if I did leave.

Anyone else feel the same? Is this normal?!

Rodger wasn't bad looking, either, what repelled women was that he was angry, resentful, and, bluntly, absolutely batshit. Doesn't matter how good a man looks if the first impression you get is that he might axe murder you.

theflushedzebra · 25/01/2020 12:56

Precisely, ProdigalKitten - and that's what our man here just doesn't get.

It's not about your baldness, or that you're a bit chubby. It's probably that you're the sort of man who goes around women's forums calling women cunts and scum, and have a major chip on your shoulder about women fancying film stars - and you know, that attitude will shine through in everyday life - and most women don't find that very attractive.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 25/01/2020 13:10

I used to love a long haired man but now I’m middle aged not many of my male peers are capable. That’s ok. My husband lost his hair 25 years ago and he is the sexiest man alive.

John Garcia of Kyuss is probably my all time hottest chap, saw him play as the Kyuss Lives! reform a few years back and he still has luxurious hair. He’s a bit pudgy now, mind you, but still hot as fuck. Played most of the set with his glasses on his head, perfect blend of middle aged moment and absolute rock star hawt. Voice is holding up well.

Then (1992)
Now (2019)

Not bad for a chap about to turn 50 🙊

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 25/01/2020 13:13

1:34 time stamp on the 1992 vid and 3.45 on the 2019.

Stupid mobile!

Even when the bald guy has far better aesthetics
so he seems to be framing this as a situation in which there is a set of rules about what women should find aesthetically pleasing in men?
these rules are made by men and women ought to adhere to them?
If I'm understanding it correctly that's how things are set out in Guardiola's head?

But, in my head I either fancy someone or I don't, I presume he would say that's because I'm not intelligent enough to understand the rules of aesthetics as set out by men?

SophocIestheFox · 25/01/2020 13:15

It’s a plan of rare genius. A woman on the internet has confessed that she is struggling with knowing how to live with her difficulties with men’s behaviour.

A man shows up to call women a bunch of horse faced ignorant cunts, or whatever it was, in order to rebut the idea that men’s behaviour is in any way problematic for women, because men are PERFECTLY FUCKING LOVELY ALRIGHT BITCHES??

It’s like showing up to Extinction Rebellion in a Range Rover Grin It does make a point, but it’s a weird one.

Anyway, OP, I have some fine, lovely men in my life, but I still struggle every day with shitty toxic masculinity in work and in life. It’s not easy.

Haven't caught up with the thread since I left it this morning, but had a great conversation with DS about it. He pointed out that as a society our values are all skewed, and that women are hugely influential because of their raising of the nation's children as mothers and primary teachers. He's not a natural feminist by any means, and is an excellent opponent in debating women's rights. As he draws my attention to his concerns (the ratio of men to women in board rooms should not be 50/50, it should reflect the ratio of men and women in the company 15 ish years ago) I sneak in mine- paternity leave should be longer so men take on equal responsibility for their children, and no longer seem more reliable to employers than women.

ahumanfemale · 25/01/2020 13:27

Anybody else reading the thread and finding the idea of political lesbianism increasingly attractive? 😂

UYScuti · 25/01/2020 13:28

I have mostly calmed down
It's good that you are calmer, but only mostly?
And from what have you calmed down?
What was it that you all riled up?

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 25/01/2020 13:29

they have to acknowledge they have peculiar, non-conventional taste, because he isn't classically handsome.

I totally acknowledge this. I like non-conventionally handsome who are talented, kind and don’t post on Mumsnet telling women what to do.

SophocIestheFox · 25/01/2020 13:29

I think your life would improve immeasurably if you stopped viewing women as two dimensional trophies to be won by some combination of looks and money, upon which we will dispense the sex you have earned, and considered us as actual humans.

Also, nobody here is obsessed with Ryan Gosling anything like as much as you are. Jesus.

littlbrowndog · 25/01/2020 13:30

How come you never got banned

I don’t have a beef with you. But I thought rules was 3 deletions in a 6 week time was a ban ?

SophocIestheFox · 25/01/2020 13:31

He’s eluding the ban with a VPN, littl. MNHQ will be playing whack a mole with him.

Oh 🤓

UYScuti · 25/01/2020 13:32

Guardiola, I feel as if you are focusing so strongly on looks because this allows you to say that someone is right or wrong when it comes to who they find attractive
But attractiveness is much more than just looks, if you have 'chemistry' with someone it's not just the geometry of their facial features it's something ineffable.
trying to make people adhere to rules about who they should and shouldn't fancy is like trying to herd cats...imo

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/01/2020 13:32

No one cares who you think we should fancy versus who we do fancy versus who you assume we fancy, mate. We are not 12 years old. This is not a think that adults obsess over unless something has gone very wrong with their emotional development.

It's obvious that some people have far better facial features than others.

Women find much more than "better facial features" attractive in men, and you know, a man could have the most perfect facial features in the world, but if he calls me a cunt, then I'm not going to want to date him.

UYScuti · 25/01/2020 13:34

Guardiola, tell us honestly, do you have a spreadsheet with all the hot famous men on in which you have scored them for the various factors that you think ought to be important?

We’ll be introducing a three strikes system whereby users deleted more than three times in any rolling six week period will have their membership automatically suspended and we’ll then take a view as to whether they will have membership reinstated.
