Spinster????

Imstinkyeddie · 22/01/2020 14:50

Shit. Well, I'm out of ideas then.

OnlyTheTitOfTheLangBerg · 22/01/2020 14:51

Perhaps its time for an FOI request?

MN is not a public authority so not subject to the FOI Act.

Was Lang 'persistently aggressive' the way we are 'literally violent', I wonder?

ButterisbestLangClegisbetter · 22/01/2020 14:52

What an insightful and informative post..... not

AbsintheFriends · 22/01/2020 14:53

I don’t imagine any of you would be particularly happy if your boss stood by and simply let people be rude to and about you

I think this is the reality of working in any contentious customer service environment, where emotions are likely to run high. (I'm thinking of the people who run the social media accounts for train companies and those who work at airline check-in desks - and I've worked in that kind of environment myself and know what it's like.) May I politely suggest that if the mods can't deal with 'rudeness' - on a screen, not being shouted at them within spitting distance across a desk - then it is they who might like to consider if MN is the right place for them?

C8H10N4O2 · 22/01/2020 14:54

FOI doesn't apply to Mumsnet

SARs do.

stumbledin · 22/01/2020 14:56

Sorry haven't had time to read all of the original thread but I have been thinking this over and was wondering if there is almost some unwritten pact that means trans activists dont do an all out onslaught on mumsnet so long as on occassions it offers up a sacrificial lamb, especially one that is seen to be an effecive commentator.

And now also want to respond Justine's post. I cant claim to have read evey post by LangCleg but where is the evidence she was personally rude, eg saying someone was an idiot for deleting a post. Surely the comments were more about the policy itself, so to make out it is just personal rudeness to those implementing it rather than having a discussion about how implementing the problem curtails discusion, seems to be passing the buck.

Obviously a good employer should protect the employees, but doesn't a good employer also need to look and see whether the employer's policies might be unreasonable / hard to enforce and it is the policies that create the tension.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2020 14:56

Women who are confident & assertive continue to be falsely labelled aggressive.

It really is such a tragedy that Women's Studies was colonised by gender ideology & Queer Theory.

Cwenthryth · 22/01/2020 14:57

I think the subject of a SAR has to make the request though?

TiredofthisBSbutIstandwithLang · 22/01/2020 14:58

I've never once seen Lang Cleg be aggressive towards anyone while I've been on this board.

I'm wondering if the moderators are mistaking debate and disagreement for aggression, in which case they either need additional training to understand the difference or to (and I mean this in the nicest way possible) to grow a thicker skin.

I find that now I'm of a certain age, I don't get offended so much by words. Idiocy, unfairness and injustice yes but not being challenged.

@JustineMumsnet @MNHQ

There is zero evidence that these posts were targeted by Trans Rights Activists

Have you seen twitter in the last 24 hours?

Justine, we deserve better than that.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 22/01/2020 15:01

Presumably Lang could get all her posts via SARS/GDPR and we could crunch the numbers regarding the actual percentage that those 60 deleted posts represent?

Like, I know 3 deleted posts in a certain period is supposed to mean suspension but I didn’t know there was a total cut off point. Posters that have been here years are clearly more likely to reach that point. If deletions never expire completely?

C8H10N4O2 · 22/01/2020 15:02

I think the subject of a SAR has to make the request though?

Yes unless they are under guardianship/PoA. Langcleg would need to make the request, what she does with it is then up to her.

I'm struggling to see the poster I read in the description given.

Perhaps it would be helpful if some examples of anonymised interactions and posts were on the guidelines with ticks and crosses of the type used in public services.

I can't be the only one pretty confused about what constitutes the difference between assertive and aggressive or what is and isn't "In the spirit" when the appearance is of such inconsistency between topics and threads.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 22/01/2020 15:02

Possible indeed. Only, MN fails to understand that you can never apppease them. Capitulation is never enough. Compromise will never arise.

Arthritica · 22/01/2020 15:02

Only just heard, and I'm frankly appalled. LangCleg was informed, insightful and valuable member of Mumsnet.

Imstinkyeddie · 22/01/2020 15:04

Examples of such behaviour woukd be helpful mnhq?

So we shrill harridans know our place?

FemiLANGul · 22/01/2020 15:05

With respect @JustineMumsnet

Worraloadashite

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 22/01/2020 15:12

As none of is have witnessed rudeness or aggression I suppose it’s possible that Lang has been sending abusive emails/private messages?

Seems unlikely, mind you. 😂

FleetsumNLangCleg · 22/01/2020 15:12

Another shrill harridan here. Why am I not getting a confirmation email from Spinster so I can join?? Checked spam. Tried again. Nothing. Help!

Mayomaynot · 22/01/2020 15:12

Picklemepopcorn - glad you're enjoying Spinster. I love it there too. Please stay on here as well, though. I bet certain people would love it if the entire FWR board disappeared or went the way of EverydayFeminism.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2020 15:12

There is zero evidence that these posts were targeted by Trans Rights Activists - reports were overwhelmingly from regular Mumsnet users

Why wouldn't there be 'regular Mumsnet users' who were also trans rights activists?

There also seems some potential naivity about how people, for all sorts of reasons be they personal & political, set up & nurture 'regular' appearing accounts.

sanluca · 22/01/2020 15:13

Possible indeed. Only, MN fails to understand that you can never apppease them. Capitulation is never enough. Compromise will never arise.

#ThisIsNotADrill*

Maybe this is because mumsnet recently changed some wording with regard to the guidelines? Fought for by ...?

ThePurported · 22/01/2020 15:15

LangCleg has had over 60 posts deleted

Out of how many?
I understand the mods have a difficult job especially with the special rules, but I would politely suggest that they don't always get it right (who does?) and not everyone can be bothered to complain about bad decisions. I've seen posts deleted for 'misgendering' a transsexual male who doesn't mind being referred to as 'he'. You have made a rod for your own back with the special rules. Of course it's your choice as a business and you can delete whatever you like without explaining why, but the bans are unfair, there's no getting away from it.

OnlyTheTitOfTheLangBerg · 22/01/2020 15:18

Fleetsum are you using a Hotmail or Yahoo address? I didn't receive an email from Spinster until I tried a different webmail not either of the above.

VortexofBloggery · 22/01/2020 15:19

Ha! Putting the boot in after she's gone. Naice. Not.
