Ignore the trolls, bring back Lang.

HarrietThePi · 22/01/2020 12:43

Is Lang still banned? I'm only a semi occasional poster to the feminism boards, but I usually read most threads and I am sad about this.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 22/01/2020 12:48

I'm not sure I said on the previous thread - but I've never, ever seen anything that Lang posted that was phobic of any kind or (in my opinion) broke talk guidelines in any way.

Sometimes she was mildly sarcastic towards the mods (and of course we're not meant to do that). And she talked about safeguarding a lot and the safeguarding loopholes that genderism opens up.

So why was she banned? Talking about safeguarding or being very mildly cheeky to the mods?

NotTerfNorCis · 22/01/2020 12:51

Prior:

The point is, they swallowed it hook line and sinker mostly, because the men and women who live on the anti-trans boards are exceptionally dim and gullible, which is why they spout what they do.

Tell a lie. Cause an upset. Blame people for believing your lie, and all the harm it caused. It takes a special kind of person to do that.

GailHugger · 22/01/2020 12:53

I think the Bunbury rules need to be applied as someone is presumably fibbing and clearly like the attention.

Also I installed the adblocker and there is so much more ROOM in here now to read and contribute to conversation

Presumably the more woke brands won’t care they don’t have my clicks.

I’m rather hoping MNHQ will realise an error has been made and can find a way forward. We’re human (adult female ones) after all.

Sad news about Terry Jones. Directed one of my favourite films. See you on Spinster too.

misscockerspaniel · 22/01/2020 12:54

Late to the party (working).

Solidarity with LangCleg Wine.

EmpressLangClegInChair · 22/01/2020 12:55

Let's stop talking about that boring pillock now.

I'm going to confess that I have never tasted Weetabix.

ForTheTimeBeing · 22/01/2020 12:56

Awful decision by MNHQ, very disappointing.

TiredofthisBSbutIstandwithLang · 22/01/2020 12:58

"The point is, they swallowed it hook line and sinker mostly, because the men and women who live on the anti-trans boards are exceptionally dim and gullible, which is why they spout what they do."

Translation:

My fibs went a bit too far and those dastardly, clever women on the pro-woman feminism boards weren't putting up with it. I've now had to back peddle like mad as I've made myself look like a prize plum and a not a pleasant person. Oops.

Its a distraction

LangCleg has been targetted with gamed reports against her for a long time. Just as have others who understand Safeguarding & can identify the very specific farmewok failures & risks.

LangCleg wrote Thu 21-Feb-19

"How did the scandal of TV entertainers grooming and exploiting children get so bad before anything was done?

How did the scandal of Catholic priests grooming and exploiting children get so bad before anything was done?

How did the scandal of on-street gangs grooming and exploiting children get so bad before anything was done?

Because if you create a sacred caste of any group and silence anyone asking questions about individuals on behalf of the sacred caste, abusers will see, infiltrate, and groom and exploit children. That''s how."

pulls up a comfy chair and awaits Ruby's examples. Gets good book as has feeling we could be here a while <

While I wait I'm very offended , hurt and distressed by JP referring to some us as dim. Do you think I could report this to a Pc somewhere so he can check their thinking?

Datun · 22/01/2020 13:02

Oh good lord, nobody swallowed anything. They wanted to have a discourse with HQ, and that was probably the way to get it. HQ aren't going to get into a conversation with prior, we all know what they think.

The point is it doesn't really matter whether or not jess prior is in direct contact.

The point is that people outside the website, who want to shut it down were given the tools.

I'm sure that has proved a massive headache for HQ. Because TRA MO, whether it's here, Facebook, Amazon reviews, or IMDb, is to mass report.

So it benefited absolutely no one.

Possibly the initial intention was to appease. Given Lang's relentless assertion that appeasement doesn't work, I'd like to know whether or not outside reporting is still being accepted.

And if not officially, is anyone focusing on the numerous avenues TRAs have to access the site, and are therefore still reporting under the radar.

SisyphusRocks · 22/01/2020 13:03

Prior's certainly 'special'

Mner2000 · 22/01/2020 13:04

Bring back Lang.

NowtSalamander · 22/01/2020 13:05

Here to sit in with all of you protesting this ridiculous and sad decision.

Lang, I hope you’re reading and you know how valuable you are to us. You changed my mind and made me think more than almost anyone else on this planet. Thank you for all the years I’ve been reading your words, even though I barely ever comment.

TinseLANGel · 22/01/2020 13:07

I'm going to confess that I have never tasted Weetabix.

Is that a euphemism Empress?

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/01/2020 13:08

I reported my post this morning to get it seen by mods: have an email back to say its being discussed so HQ certainly aren't ignoring. As usual massive mess people are having to clear up because of actions of those not even involved. Rather like the poor GPs surgery last week suddenly thrown into the press by some online twit playing with one of their prescriptions.

The writer of those tweets is demonstrating clearly what GC women have said from the start is the issue with all of this. There will be those disturbed individuals who will see this merely as a political cause to hang their pathology on in order to further their ability to harm others in ways that would be immediately recognised as unacceptable and prevented if done in any other context.

popehilarious · 22/01/2020 13:10

[How can you swallow something "hook line and sinker mostly"? That means "completely mostly". JP has never exactly dazzled with their intellect. Or grip on reality. ]

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 22/01/2020 13:10

That's a very good point on the last thread about viewing reported/deleted posts as a percentage of posting history, of course on top of the false reports done maliciously (is vexatious the word I want?) I know I have been reported many times - and a few deletions have been warranted and I will hold my hands up to those Blush- but over the 15 years or so I have been here posting under all the different names and on different topics including SN, I would like to think the good outweighs the bad!

Getting banned, for saying (and please note this is an example, I'm not actually saying this) that Joss Prior is a cunt, on three occasions in one week, against 8 billion posts over 15 years of generally supportive stuff, having a laugh, posting photos of my cats, giving and receiving advice in the SN section, joining in the Christmas appeals and charity stuff like Mile for Maude, posting more pics of my cats, having threads which went into classics, making RL friends from MN as well as recruiting RL friends to MN - you would have thought MNHQ would be cutting off their nose to please men spite their face?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 22/01/2020 13:12

to be on the safe side, I've edited myself Grin

It's night time from Oz for me. I hope I wake up tomorrow to the news Lang is back.

If we get Lang back though, it doesn't mean you can leave R0 Brew

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 22/01/2020 13:19

Who the fuck is Joss Prior anyway?

Lang for Duchess (of Safeguarding).

*might have read too many Meghan Markle threads.

MyOwnSummer · 22/01/2020 13:20

Long time lurker and recently a first time parent who really appreciated LangCleg's explanation of safeguarding issues around Self ID.

Like most on here, I have no problems with Trans people - I have a problem with inadequate safeguarding of children and the shutting down of respectful debate. The PP who cut and pasted her explanation of sacred castes and the effect on safeguarding - thank you.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2020 13:20

James Kirkup in The Spectator today:

'Was this journalist sacked for saying ‘sex is binary’?'
"I write a lot about transgenderism. I do so for several reasons. Among them: because politicians still aren’t doing their job and assessing policies and representing concerns properly. Because politics fails if groups of people are silenced and ignored. Because the way some women are abused, threatened and silenced on this topic makes me angry. Because other journalists (mostly male ones) who know that this stuff matters still aren’t covering it.

And because language, our ability to give form and expression to our thoughts, is important." (continues)

Its important in many areas, but vital in effective Safeguarding of children & vulnerable adults

If we get Lang back though, it doesn't mean you can leave R0

Given that there are apparently only about six of us and several pairs of socks, are we confident R0 and Lang are not the same person? Have we ever seen them sharing a bowl of Weetabix together?
