Dr Adrian Harrop's revenge porn bullying

Even by Harrop's standards this is particularly despicable.

A couple of TRAs engaged in a twitter discussion saying that Caroline Farrow looks like a man (because saying a transwoman looks like a man when they do is a hate crime but saying a woman does when they don't is banter). And this led to a conversation that there are compromising photos of Farrow.

Harrop then joined the discussion, implying that he has seen these photos and will send them to anyone who asks via direct message. This is in breach of revenge porn legislation and the ethics of being a doctor.

Farrow called the police last night over this harassment - but Harrop seems to have got worse and has tweeted that he's tracking her menstrual cycle

I rarely post on these threads as I'm not the brightest compared to others.
FFS, this knob head male medic is still being allowed to carry on his misogynistic shit. WTF?
I've had to ring family members up to check which GP they are registered with this morning.
I hope the CQC get involved in sorting this bollocks out.

Is it just me or in the head to head on sky with PP did it's Dr Harrop in his glasses look a bit like Dierdre Barlow having a full swivel eyed row with Ken?

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/01/2020 10:05

A cross between Deirdre B and Michael Gove

I heart that video.

If you get into an unfortunate situation in the morning, then you’ve been unlucky.

If, however, you find yourself in unfortunate situations all day, then it’s you that’s the problem.

If you play in the mud you're going to get dirty hands.

If someone is known to be highly and often rather inappropriately active on social media for someone in a professional position of public trust - which would be regarded in itself as absolutely unacceptable in many spheres of work - and that social media feed shows that inappropriate activity around the victims of this event, then it's hardly surprising when one's place of work is connected that you become implicated in this and viewed with suspicion.

Which is why in every job I've had since social media started, there was a strong staff social media policy and I've known people warned or even sacked for breaching it. You have to be seen as worthy of public trust, and maintain a professional code of behaviour or you risk getting dragged into tricky public messes, or bringing your work place into disrepute.

I note that though he no longer has "Dr" on his Twitter profile, he now has GP. Same thing really.

I think his employers are in a difficult position. He is responsible for LGBTQ+ community engagement for the Royal College of GPs, and so will effectively be untouchable. Any attempt to challenge his twitter and other social media engagement would presumably bring the whole weight of Stonewall down on them with plenty of cries of "phobe" along the way.

Who cares if female patients might feel uncomfortable. As always women are simply colateral.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/01/2020 16:15

I suggest women patients in the area (he works for the OOH service too) complain if they feel his blatant misogyny, demonstrated on social media, makes them reluctant to seek medical care.

Even as an LGBT... friendly doctor he is a disaster. Imagine being the concerned parent, (especially mother) of an ROGD teen (especially girl). How could anyone feel confident of getting impartial, helpful advice from him?

Totally different case obv, but I recently had reason to be concerned about treatment my daughter's GP had prescribed. She is an adult, so there's no point in me ringing up as they wouldn't deal with me. So I wrote a letter listing my concerns and stating that I had discussed them with her and sent her in with the letter. A more senior GP at the practice saw her, read the letter, discontinued the medication I was concerned about, ordered the blood tests I suggested (which proved to be in the abnormal range) and thanked me for writing down my concerns clearly. Obviously I am extremely happy with the outcome. Does anyone think a consultation with Adrian Harrop would go the same way?

I've lost count but at least two women in this thread have voiced concerns about either themselves or their relatives using the practice for fear of being seen by Dr Harrop. This is very serious.

bettybeans · 15/01/2020 23:37

Harrop is frightening, but not in the way he wants to be. He’s a complete law unto himself and has an obvious pathological hatred of women. I really hope the police get off their arses and do something about the image he’s distributing - that’s so distanced from any ‘controversial’ trans issues they have no excuse to avoid it. He’s such a horrifically creepy little weasel.

So true.

There's no L in his framework.

Mossyrock · 16/01/2020 09:43

He is responsible for LGBTQ+ community engagement for the Royal College of GPs

What? Are they aware of how he actually engages with people? I find this astonishing. There must be thousands of more suitable GPs for this role.

GlitterToast · 22/01/2020 22:40

This man has hit a new low today Sad

ScapaFlo · 22/01/2020 22:44

What's happened? (not on twitter)

aliasundercover · 22/01/2020 23:13

I don't know what's happened - his account has been suspended.

GirlDownUnder · 22/01/2020 23:29

Really?

Oh dear. Shame.

GirlDownUnder · 22/01/2020 23:30

I'll bet his suspension doesn't prompt thousands os posts in protest. Wink

Langsdestiny · 22/01/2020 23:30

Oh well if that's true its cheered me up.

SarahTancredi · 22/01/2020 23:33

.

Langsdestiny · 22/01/2020 23:34

Are you sure. I can still see it.

TinseLANGel · 22/01/2020 23:35

He's not posted for a few hours but his account is still there.

Doyoumind · 22/01/2020 23:45

He's still there... unfortunately.
