That's it really! I just realised it's almost exactly a year since my teen told me he was trans. He seems to have changed his mind now, but who knows how things would have turned out without the advice and support I got here.

Came for help, stayed for the amazing knowledge and the laughs! Hope you all have some fun tomorrow, maybe I'll get to meet some of you in London on Feb 1st!

Merry merry Christmas from another normally just a lurker. Thank you so much for the education on queer theory and transing children. My teen is another who has compromised on non binary, after the horror of months of trans talk. All would be well were it not for my woke adult children here for Christmas, cancelling JK and forbidding me to look at MN. They kind of spoil things for me. I am starting to stand up for myself with them., though. I have learnt a thing or two on here, mainly to let them run on until they work themselves into a logical inconsistency.

Bollocks to that! Tell them that they wouldn’t dream of trying to tell a man how to behave, so they can keep their sexist shite to themselves. I’m livid just reading that and I’d be telling my kids to either keep their opinions to themselves or they know where the door is.

I’m glad to read that, but also saddened that you have to learn to ‘stand up’ for yourself in your own home. My Adult boys are woke, but as time goes on I can see them starting to question things. It might take them having their own kids before they finally go “WTF?” But they’ll eventually get there.

MaryZ your advice and support on the teenager boards over the years brought me to Mumsnet in the first place. Hope you can stay !

This time last year I was just starting out on my GC journey and have learned so much due to the brilliant, articulate and funny women here. I came to peek, I peaked, and I stayed!
Maryz is before my time but I wave to her from rural Ireland. It doesn't seem at all woke here in this backwater and this gives me hope: I believe there's a foundation of unwoke, sensible, reality based people here. Is in controversial to say that maybe traditional religion helps? I went to (Catholic) church on Christmas Eve with my daughter's and the church was absolutely packed, only standing room left. I know that daughter's PIL and husband think it's all bullshit.

Also waves to Maya. I keep tabs on your excavation site and am happy to have used my little spade once or twice. I was chuffed to see you liked one of my Real Name comments on Facebook!

It's not too late to wish anyone happy Christmas. Christmas is still live for another week and a bit!

Belated Merry Christmas to you all!

New name, old poster. I got fed up of the moderation policy here and went over to GC Reddit instead. It turns out that theirs is worse - I had posts quietly deleted for not being left-wing and not thinking that communism is a good idea. I had someone tell me I couldn't be gender critical if I didn't want to abolish capitalism. I'm fairly centrist.

I know that most of the women here are on the left, but I have a new appreciation for how welcoming the board is to all gender critical women, regardless of their political leanings. Thank you for this space, and for all that I've learnt from this board.

May the FWR be with you perfect!

I feel your pain. My DD so incensed me that I was moved to do more digging on her behalf. A short scroll through the comments will lead you to find the contribution I made.
I was too cowardly to use her email address (I was tempted) when I did my digging in the interests of family harmony over Christmas. I have also resisted the temptation to put screenshots on Instagram or her Facebook 😱🤬
Perhaps I will text them to her when she hops on her plane back to university.
Anyway, instead of treating her to a decent haircut I have been quietly digging. So there.
