That's it really! I just realised it's almost exactly a year since my teen told me he was trans. He seems to have changed his mind now, but who knows how things would have turned out without the advice and support I got here.

Came for help, stayed for the amazing knowledge and the laughs! Hope you all have some fun tomorrow, maybe I'll get to meet some of you in London on Feb 1st!

I’m an old second waver academic feminist - a veteran of the BBC women’s hour message board. When a friend there told me that Mumsnet was one of the most feminist places on the internetz I didn’t quite believe her.

But she is right. And I’m addicted.

Merry Christmas to all you harpies and vipers! Grin

Dolorabelle · 25/12/2019 07:56

And welcome back MaryZ. You are an inspiration. I get caught up in academical feminist stuff but you’ve always cut through the waffle.

Loving the fact so many lurkers, name changers and legendary FWR posters have posted. Gives me heart and strength this Christmas.

Yesterday I took my children to watch Star Wars and there's a line about how the oppressors deliberately make you think there's just one of you fighting all this (or something similar) when actually there are many standing up and fighting back.

May the FWR be with you Xmas Grin

Merry Christmas vipers. Good to see you Maryz and hope you can stay. You had left by the time I started posting on here but I've heard your name often.

Love ‘May the FWR be with you’, I saw the film on Sunday and saw parallels too.

Merry Christmas to all the posters and lurkers of FWR.

I'm grateful for this online space full of articulate, intelligent and bolshy women. I've learned much over the past year on so many different issues.
Over the years I had become quite disillusioned with 'feminism' but now I realise it's because the mainstream version is the libfem type which is completely useless and doesn't seek any genuine change.

I'm glad FWR has women of all ages and backgrounds and political leanings. There are things we agree as well as disagree on and I like that we can have these differences of opinions, even strong ones, but still have a shared understanding and goal of protecting women and children.

I've seen libfem online spaces and groups. They do not come close to the level of intellectual debate here and they focus on everyone being nice and using the correct words and tiptoeing around issues or ignoring them completely. The women here are a great model for what feminist discussion should be like and continue to help me be less apologetic and more confident in my own opinions.

Let's hope 2020 is a better year for women's rights and the safeguarding of children.

Merry Christmas wonderful women, & WELCOME BACK MARYZ!

MForstater · 25/12/2019 09:33

Merry Christmas to the feminist think tank , the feminist support group, the feminist archive that is FWR. This place is so important (as evidenced by how hard they try to shut it down and shut us up).

I am here in other names, but mainly just lurking at the moment (and reading all my threads!! Grin)

What a week and what a year it has been!

Love to all -- and thanks to MNHQ for not buckling

justanothernomaj · 25/12/2019 09:42

Love to all the wonderful women here. Thank you so much for all your clever and insightful thoughts as we navigate our way through this new world. I am so grateful to have you by my side on this journey.

Much love Maya. I was one of (probably) many random women who hugged you in London when the amazing Sharron Davies spoke to many 100’s of us (and all the other brave fearless women who spoke).
