*Can we be reassured that the Gender Recognition Act will be reformed and fixed to ensure the safety, protection and validation of trans and non-binary people in the UK?

Can you promise us that this will be put into action, rather than simply saying you will, when you become prime minister?*

Yes, I can definitely promise that, because this is long overdue. We will reform the Gender Recognition Act to include self-identification for trans people – and we will make sure the voices of non-binary people are finally heard in our review of the GRA consultation.
Trans people will no longer have to endure invasive, dehumanising and lengthy processes in order to have their gender recognised. And we’ll also amend the Equality Act 2010.

We need to remove the outdated language in there, and we’re going to ensure there are proper protections for trans people against discrimination.

Not his rights to give away !! Idiot. What the hell am l supposed to do tomorrow.... thanks for nothing Jeremy .

LangCleg · 11/12/2019 23:25

Oh Badger. I'm crying. Flowers

SirVixofVixHall · 11/12/2019 23:29

I am in my fifties and have never voted Tory, but I may have to as I am in a Labour/Tory marginal.
Can’t take this in really. What the hell is wrong with Labour that they would do this to women ?

SingingLily · 11/12/2019 23:32

Badger, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for the whole crappy state of the country and the bloody hard choices we are having to make.

ZIGGY7 · 11/12/2019 23:36

The Corbyn interview is an old rehashed one from 2016. It is FAKE NEWS spread by Pink News, who are run by men who hate women.
Here is the evidence twitter.com/slipstream60/status/1204898891738554374
Pink News are a bunch of misogynists who know how to press women’s buttons. Please DO NOT SPOIL your ballot paper on the basis of this fake article. Pink News are notorious for their lack of journalistic integrity.

BadgertheBodger · 11/12/2019 23:36

Oh Christ Lang I’ve been crying all day. You never think it will happen to you do you, until it bloody does. Thankfully we have incredibly supportive families who will not see us starve until the reconsideration/appeal process is done but thousands are not as lucky.

It’s fucking killing me to not put a cross in the Labour column this time but I am so much more frightened of what happens to women and children in the future if I do. I’d love John McDonnell, or indeed any grown ups left in the party, to look at the absolute despair of the women they fucked over, and just have one second’s worth of ohhhhh shitwhathaveidone before they are hoisted high by their own petard

I am so fucking upset about this. How can they not give a shit so badly? The party for the many, not the few*

*unless you’re a man, then we will literally elevate you above all others and if you’re trans or NB or some other gender identity bollocks you will be elevated faaaaaar beyond your wildest dreams

TheOliphantintheRoom · 11/12/2019 23:41

Is there any chance Corbyn could have been misquoted?

God I sound desperate!

BadgertheBodger · 11/12/2019 23:42

Lily thanks

I saw your post on the other thread and tbh if I had a choice of Belcher and a Conservative candidate I probably actually would vote Tory. When you’re crusading inside the party (and I properly do admire you for that!) try and convince them that disabled people in wheelchairs generally don’t fake being unable to dress or wash themselves. If the Conservatives could stop shitting on disabled people for 10 minutes I might just vote for them in future.

SingingLily · 11/12/2019 23:49

Badger, please take that as a given. Dad had mobility problems and had to go through the PIP assessment. It was ludicrous. So I promise.

And thank you for understanding. 💐

Unusualsuspicion · 11/12/2019 23:50

If the tories get back in self-ID will be the least of our worries. Hard Brexit, public services screwed for a generation at least. I'm staunchly gender critical but spoiling your ballot over this is absolutely nuts. After 9 years of tory rule 35% of our children now live in poverty, in the 5th largest economy on earth. What will it be after another 5 years+ of sack and burn?

Besides which, I'm astonished that any of you are contemplating abdicating your democratic right to a voice on the basis of an article from Penis News, quoting Corbyn speaking 3 years ago!

OvaHere · 11/12/2019 23:53

I saw that on twitter ZIGGY so I read the piece carefully again. They mention they interviewed him in 2016 but then go on to say they are interviewing him again ahead of this election.

The Q&A section seems new so I think they have interviewed him again but it is possible they've taken bits from the 2016 interview and mixed it up.

“Everywhere I’ve ever travelled, I’ve always raised the issue of human rights,” Jeremy Corbyn explained to PinkNews back in 2016.

It’s something that, in this interview with Jeremy Corbyn ahead of the most important general election in a generation, we questioned the Labour leader about again,

Ereshkigal · 11/12/2019 23:54

Agree, there is wording that they interviewed him again.

SingingLily · 12/12/2019 00:01

Friday 6 December 2019 - webchat with John McDonnell.

His post at 12.18.

Webchat with John McDonnell, Shadow Chancellor, Friday 6 December at 12 midday
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnetlivee_events/3760829-Webchat-with-John-McDonnell-Shadow-Chancellor-Friday-6-December-at-12-midday

I might also add that a poster told him about being hounded out as Chair of a LCP because she wanted honest debate about Self ID.

Her post was deleted within about sixty seconds. I watched it happen.

Silenced.

CharlottesPleb · 12/12/2019 00:02

Yep, there it is.

BadgertheBodger · 12/12/2019 00:02

Unusualsuspicion well, I’ve voted Labour all my life and I’m appalled at the lack of clarity around this issue. Lots of women, bloody loads of us were very clear this was a single issue election for us and we’ve STILL been shat on. So tell me again exactly why Labour is a friend to women and girls? Because I’m not fucking seeing it tbh.

ZIGGY7 · 12/12/2019 00:04

I’m as GC as they come and I was, at one stage, going to spoil my ballot paper. But then I found it chilling to think of 5 years under Johnson and without the workers rights the EU gives us. My constituency keeps getting mentioned in all the flaming articles on tactical voting. So now I find myself having to hold my nose and vote LibDem, for Christ’s sake. Because the only thing that matters to me tomorrow is to GET THE TORIES OUT. As a teacher I have witnessed the ruination the funding cuts have caused. I also know that there are some very gutsy women in Labour who will not allow trans ideology bs to gain any more traction. I’m voting for a hung Parliament so that Johnson and Corbyn get the sack, and a Labour leader who stands up for women can be elected. Please, if you live in a constituency that needs your vote to kick out the Tory, don’t spoil your ballot paper.

BadgertheBodger · 12/12/2019 00:09

I don’t think there is an easy decision for anyone on this. I respect other’s difficult decisions. Please don’t come here though and tell other women what they ought to do for greater good

lady69 · 12/12/2019 00:12

Yep. I'm Voting tory. Corbyn is anti women and anto-semetic. Either one is a huge deal breaker for me. Not even holding nose worthy. His ideology is scummy - my Jewish friends are genuinely fearful and as a woman i can’t come to these boards and vote for this man as that’s pure hypocrisy.

ZIGGY7 · 12/12/2019 00:21

I am Jewish.

lady69 · 12/12/2019 00:38

So are 250,000 other people in the UK Ziggy. I do it for those who i know very well who are fearful and who have faced personal insults from members of labour /momentum simply because they are Jewish .

And i do it for women who fear self id.

So I’m still voting against Corbyn.

ZIGGY7 · 12/12/2019 00:41

Not in my name. I am appalled that you think Johnson is not an anti-Semite.

thatdamnwoman · 12/12/2019 00:42

I think that for the first time in my life I will vote Tory. I can't believe it, but we can't let Corbyn in.

lady69 · 12/12/2019 00:53

I’m sad for you that you think that and think Current labour will ever stand for women. truly i am.

Off to bed. Early start to get my tory vote in. So apols if i fail to reply.

Sexnotgender · 12/12/2019 06:01

Please don’t make other women feel bad for their voting choices.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 12/12/2019 06:22

I’ve never voted Tory before either.

But I emailed all my candidates & the Conservative one, the only one to reply, confirmed that she saw the importance of single sex spaces. My Labour MP’s previously come back with waffle about vulnerable minorities.

I’m in a safe Labour seat so I doubt it will make much difference, but she’s earned my vote. Fuck Labour.
