Spoilt votes - post them here so that the parties/papers can see them

I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

In case it is of interest (and you want a place to post your views for/against spoiling ballots), there have been a number of threads about spoiling ballots, a few links below:

Blue - I'm not a labour voter, so they haven't lost my vote. In fact my spoiled ballot with an x yesterday was the first time I have ever put an x in the labour box.

If someone read it, great, if not - my one vote wouldn't have helped my usual party or my second party anyway. Neither of them lost by one vote.

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 08:12

You know what I think of you.

But you go on patting yourselves on the back for making decisions that damage the poorest and most vulnerable women in the UK.

Not reading any more of this stupid thread, so don't bother replying.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 13/12/2019 08:13

People didn’t behave as I thought they should!

Obviously the solution is to berate them rather than try to understand why they behaved that way

Worked brilliantly for Brexit, can totally see why people keep doing it. NOT (to quote Bill and Ted)

FlyingOink · 13/12/2019 08:13

You know what I think of you.
We know what all your mates think of us too, frankly we're sick of hearing it.

HandsOffMyRights · 13/12/2019 08:13

Stupid, stupid thread on loop.

All that's missing is the caps lock.

Now where else do we see the same meaningless phrase shouted in repetition?

Oh yes, TWAW Xmas Confused

I think it’s a bot that programmed to repeat “stupid thread”.

PJsatMidday · 13/12/2019 08:20

God, you sound like a toddler. I'm really glad my poor late dad, devoted trade unionist, councillor and local mayor, didn't have to see the state the labour party have gotten themselves into.

You are a shambles. Sort yourselves out. Start listening to your grass root electorate instead of a bunch of blue haired, bearded, barely adequate woke blokes, who have latched onto Corbyn like the playground bully's side kicks.

PJsatMidday · 13/12/2019 08:21

Keep them coming Bernard I think we all need the laughs this morning.

NickelADimeCandy · 13/12/2019 08:30

In a sense Johnston didn't win the election - Corbyn lost it.

Johnston for many is simply the least worst option.

slimeandfear · 13/12/2019 08:40

The indignation that a woman with a pink pen dared to air her views!

Dawn is a gender critical Green, her post is not one of disapproval!

GCAcademic · 13/12/2019 08:44

In a sense Johnston didn't win the election - Corbyn lost it.

I agree. It reminds me of the final stage of the last French election. A bit like having to choose between cholera and plague.

HandsOffMyRights · 13/12/2019 08:52

Whoops! Sorry Dawn.

That'll teach me to skim read before my caffeine fix. Blush
So used to being slated that I read it as such.

Floisme · 13/12/2019 08:54

You know what I think of you.
I guess they knew what you thought of them in Rother Valley too. And Darlington. And Bolsover. And Blyth Valley. And Redcar. But you carry on blaming everyone but yourselves.

TiredofthisBS · 13/12/2019 08:58

Corbyn, the party and its activists lost the election for them not us. If you want to blame someone maybe take a good long hard look at what they did. I will not take the blame for someone else's failings.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 13/12/2019 09:02

In a sense Johnston didn't win the election - Corbyn lost it.

No 'in a sense' about it. The Tory vote barely went up, Labour's collapsed.

Turns out people are sick of the 'woke' authoritarians.

Turns out those of us who have spent four long years pointing out Corbyn was an unelectable fool were right.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 13/12/2019 09:11

That is such weird plopping.

'You know what I think of you'

Well yeah. But literally nothing else about you. So why would we give a shit?

YourOpinionIsNoted · 13/12/2019 09:16

guess they knew what you thought of them in Rother Valley too. And Darlington. And Bolsover. And Blyth Valley. And Redcar. But you carry on blaming everyone but yourselves.

This!! Grow up, take the blame for your own failings, think about how to turn it around. I want to be able to vote for a party with a grip on reality!

VMisaMarshmallow · 13/12/2019 09:27

Beyond - did you just say that 900 people voted & 100 hundred of those were spoilt? Or is that a typo & 9000 voted?

Justhadathought · 13/12/2019 09:31

The Labour party lost because some of the poorest, most deprived communities desperately pressed what they saw as a possible lever for change. For decades many constituencies have been neglected & abandoned - and that was by Labour governments too.

Losing Scotland was always going to mean the end for Labour as well. The Labour party is itself fractured and divided, and many good and capable MPs have now either been ejected, left of their volition, or now lost their seat.

Labour is now a party of the big cities in England and university towns, in the main. There needs to be a serious re-evaluation in the Labour party. They cannot simply blame the media, and their own voters for being stupid in rejecting Jeremy's socialist vision. Labour has lots many of us in its current guise. which is why many of us who would have liked to vote Labour could not.

My city, as it happens, is still a sea of red.

slimeandfear · 13/12/2019 09:32

But you go on patting yourselves on the back for making decisions that damage the poorest and most vulnerable women in the UK.

What decisions do we make, pray tell? Do we make cuts to services? No. Do we undermine the safety of women-only crisis services by planning to change the law to allow penis owners in? No.

Those decisions are made by Govts and MPs, not us. I think it's a fair assessment that every one of us would have voted for a party that reversed cuts and made a credible pledge to retain single-sex protections. We were not offered such a party. We are not responsible for the failure of politicians to prioritise women's safety.

One of the oft-stated rules of misogyny is that misogynists hold women responsible for men's actions. Your misogyny is showing, BlueStocking.

BeyondVotesForFlube · 13/12/2019 09:36

No, there were 900 votes between lab and con. Usually in the thousands.

Justhadathought · 13/12/2019 09:36

I guess they knew what you thought of them in Rother Valley too. And Darlington. And Bolsover. And Blyth Valley. And Redcar. But you carry on blaming everyone but yourselves

You're right! These places were lost to Labour because the Labour party because people their voted Brexit, and Labour equivocated in its stance - because the Labour vote has fractured: the big university towns and the big cities ( some of which still suffer from serious deprivation, though) and the old industrial and rural/ farming heartlands ( of Wales). Trying to keep two very different constituencies on board was impossible.

Justhadathought · 13/12/2019 09:36

lost to Labour because the people there voted Brexit

BeyondVotesForFlube · 13/12/2019 09:38

I appreciate the sentiment, but could we stop with the "poor and vulnerable" stuff? Us poor, vulnerable women aren't any more of a hive mind than anyone else!
