Spoilt votes - post them here so that the parties/papers can see them

I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

In case it is of interest (and you want a place to post your views for/against spoiling ballots), there have been a number of threads about spoiling ballots, a few links below:

and if you think this is going to be a big story and get you the
coverage you need in this particular election your deluded
Why do you care?
I dont want to be in the news, I want women to have a voice over who we share our spaces with, including jails, refuges and changing rooms among other spaces.

SarahTancredi · 12/12/2019 17:51

Virtually everyone who is active the feminist board has written and spoken to their MPs. And more. Repeatedly

Yep. And been ignored too Hmm

HandsOffMyRights · 12/12/2019 17:52

It's called integrity, Hope & co.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 17:52

if you think this is going to be a big story and get you the coverage you need in this particular election your deluded.

If I spoil my ballot later it will be because I think it’s the right thing to do. Not because I want the media to pick up a story.

If you’d read this thread you’ll have seen that I am your natural ally - a “Tories out at all costs” voter with a disabled DH aware from first hand experience exactly what NHS and benefit cuts are doing to the vulnerable. But with every “you naughty wasteful woman” post here, I become more determined to spoil my paper anyway, so you’re having the exact opposite effect to the one you want.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:54

My MP and I are on first name terms I contact her so much.
She agrees - and does nothing.

maidenover · 12/12/2019 17:54

If you don’t want this to be news then why are you spoiling your paper?

If this isn’t news then who is going to pay attention and adapt their party policy in response?

If you don’t want this to be news then how exactly are you giving a voice to women?

VMisaMarshmallow · 12/12/2019 17:55

Just - these days the youth appear to consider political activism putting on some ‘feminist’ slogan shirt, trotting along time pride to have a big party (as opposed to accompany lesbian friends because they were scared for their fucking lives if there weren’t enough of us), doing ‘pride make up’ (see reddit mua) and posting useless empty sound bites on social media. Oh yeah and yelling at all the meany women to shut the fuck up.

(No offence to any one younger who actually engages, nor am I claiming to be the most politically active women either. Just case a disclaimer is needed with all the random woke bros popping in).

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:55

If one person sees my ballot and starts to wonder what the fuck is going on - that will do me. That's how it spreads - out into the sunshine.

HandsOffMyRights · 12/12/2019 17:56

God s/he really doesn't get it.

Raindrops17 · 12/12/2019 17:56

I’ll be using the vote they fought for later to try and oust my current MP who is anti-abortion, anti-same sex marriage, pro-brexit

And who would you vote for if every single candidate in your constituency had the same stance? Because that is what many of us are dealing with, but our hardline is women’s rights. There is absolutely no way I can vote for someone who is not going to uphold women’s sex based rights and throw us under a bus instead. Simple as that. I don’t care who does or doesn’t see my spoiled paper.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 17:58

If you don’t want this to be news then why are you spoiling your paper?

Can you not read? It is really tedious having to explain this over and over. You clearly just enjoy hectoring.

BeyondVotesForFlube · 12/12/2019 17:58

I marked my X in the right place, and I wrote a little note on the bottom.

Whichever way the counters decide to count that, my conscience is clear.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:59

I didn't spoil My vote in the hope that it would send a huge message. I spoilt my vote for ME because I cannot in all good consciousness vote for any party that treats women so poorly

AbsintheFriends · 12/12/2019 18:00

maiden, you could look at it as a sort of review. Like on Amazon, or Tripadvisor. It's up to the political parties whether they listen and learn, just as it is for restaurants that get one star reviews for having rude staff and dishing up cold food.

ElfrideSwancourt · 12/12/2019 18:00

I've just spoilt my vote - felt weird but our LD person is HB.
Thanks to whoever posted the sticker idea - it worked really well 😊

PJsatMidday · 12/12/2019 18:00

So we have gone from being "disappointing" women to being "disgusting" sweary and unladylike ones. Ooh, women, know your place, eh?

Once more for -Momentum- the hard of reading. Nobody on here has told anybody else to go and spoil their vote. Nobody. Women have merely come on here and shared their experiences. We are all in different constituencies and in different personal circumstances. We are all voting with our consciences, and spoiling a ballot is a form of protest vote that is counted.

The only people who have been telling anyone how to vote are LibDems and Labour supporters. You seem to think that women on FWR are so weak minded that a few chastisements will pull us into line and make us be good girls doing your bidding. You have the gaslighter's nerve to invoke the suffragettes whilst doing so.

If you think we are so silly, pathetic and irrelevant, why are you on here? What are you afraid of? Rapid Onset Ballot Spoiling?

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 18:00

If this isn’t news then who is going to pay attention and adapt their party policy in response

The party policies are already formed. And around Self ID the dye is cast. Not one MP in the Labour or Liberal party has spoken out; and nobody on the ground/the activists dare to either. Self ID is being pushed through under the radar, with no debate, or public awareness of the full implications. This is not democratic.

You are deluded if you think that voting for a party that supports something ( on paper) that you have profound issue with, is going to somehow magically make that policy disappear is delusional.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 18:02

PJs am chuckling at ROBS, and god knows I need a laugh today! Grin

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 18:04

If everyone that spoilt their paper had emailed local MPs/newspapers to voice their opinions then it would of had a much bigger impact. I’m sure some did so not having a go at the ones that have, obviously

Your naivety is astonishing.! This is not facebook. This forum is populated by many long standing activists; professional people, journalists, lawyers, trade unionists.....many. i suspect, far older and more experienced than yourself. Oh, and many of us are Mums too!

Hopeforthemany · 12/12/2019 18:04

@MsMcWibble you do know spoiling your paper is the same as not voting? Because it’s not actually voting.

Just because I disagree with spoiling papers doesn’t mean I’m not for women’s rights! It’s wrong to accuse women of being on the side of men because they disagree with you.

I look forward to seeing all the coverage the spoilt papers get in the press tomorrow.

VMisaMarshmallow · 12/12/2019 18:04

Cheers maid. I’m drawing pretty penises (red & green, no purple crayon) all round the bath with kids bath crayons currently. With a glass of red. While watching Lisa Nova being Sarah Palin right now. Damn shame she became a millionaire and buggered off to have a life, she’d be fricken priceless imitating JS right now, bet her brother would kick ass being BJ too.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 18:07

you do know spoiling your paper is the same as not voting? Because it’s not actually voting.

Once more for the hard of thinking:

Spoiled. Ballots. Are. Counted. And. Included. In. Turnout. Figures.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2019 18:09

So had I been vote counting this evening and seen some spoilt papers like these it would absolutely prick my interest and make me go home and google. I'd ask friends and family if they'd heard of these things ... so yeah, damn right this will spread and cast the sunshine on the issue if nothing else.

Plus as has been pointed out so many friggin times, I'm doing it as my choice. It's a perfectly valid option and NOT THE SAME as not voting.

HandsOffMyRights · 12/12/2019 18:10

I'm adding a 'T*RFs Rule' line.
Too much? Grin

VMisaMarshmallow · 12/12/2019 18:10

Hands I think (s)he does. I think wokey woke boo things (s)he is putting women off spoiling. Or off voting. Or guilting them into remaining silent. Or goad us into getting the thread pulled/posts deleted.

Awa asking the same thing over and over despite the obvious (basic as fuck) option of reading the thread just keeps it at top. Keeps peek transing others. Gets more women mad enough to spoil or speak out or fire off emails to mps/media etc.
