For all the businesses and organisations with LGBetc groups I want to ask - when was this founded and what other lobby groups do you have?

womanaf · 10/12/2019 09:11

yes I mean why THIS issue?
Institutional capture.

TRAs got into every org, started influencing policies, shut down all dissenting voices, made it taboo to even suggest you mightn’t agree.

By the time most of us noticed, we were very far down this path indeed.

I reckon JS has lived in her bubble unchallenged for so long, this scrutiny has taken her aback, otherwise she’d have had some answers ready beyond ‘I’m a woman’ and ‘swipe cards’.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 09:11

Who is at the top of the pyramid? It can’t be pop up groups working independently?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 09:15

I want someone to hold up a photo of a transwoman of the Karen White variety and ask Swinson what she sees, just to watch her squirm. And that goes for every other idiot spouting the same nonsense too.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 10:40

She will say that of course they weren’t genuine and just a ‘very naughty um err boy, girl...’.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 10/12/2019 10:47

Oooh yes, this.

Sarcelle · 10/12/2019 10:59

She has just been on This Morning. Holly challenged her on self ID. Jo did not make a good account of herself on this, or any other issues she covered.

BarbaraStrozzi · 10/12/2019 10:59

Swinson wouldn't be able to see him. The picture would magically appear blank. Just as Layla Moran has magic eyes which enable her to see into souls, Swinson has magic blinkers which enable her to maintain her "this never happens, it's just scare-mongering" position.

She'd clap the telescope to her blind eye and say "I see no ships." Only less eloquently and with more umming and erring.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 11:09

Not to be rude, but if you can't even win a debate with Holly on This Morning then how do you think you'd manage Prime Minister's Question Time?

Melroses · 10/12/2019 11:41

Oh dear, I am surprised she is still going on television at all after the last few days. She doesn't seem to be getting any better at it - would have thought Holly would be a breeze after Justin, Brendon and Anna.

Has Dr Wollaston been on anything since Newsnight?

RedToothBrush · 10/12/2019 12:43

I think the issue is that Swinson is a fake feminist and women who had high hopes have seen straight through it.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 12:48

I hope she has some time off after the elections and has time to think.

GCAcademic · 10/12/2019 12:52

Yes, the more time off for Jo, the better. The problem is that all of them are woke idiots and not likely to change any time soon.

I am dreading Friday morning, whatever the outcome. The only thing that could make it fractionally less awful would be seeing Swinson and Layla Moran lose their seats.

RedToothBrush · 10/12/2019 13:35

Don't think Layla's going anywhere. I fully expect her to be reelected.

GCAcademic · 10/12/2019 13:40

Bugger. She had a small majority last time. I was hoping she'd lose it.

I won't ask how we know she's going to be re-elected. I expect she has looked into the soul of her constituents.

Sarcelle · 10/12/2019 13:43

I felt embarrassed for her on This Morning.

ThePurported · 10/12/2019 13:47

Remember when eating a bacon sandwich badly was a major gaff?

Oh god, and it felt like we had hit peak stupid at the time.

theflushedzebra · 10/12/2019 14:10

That "bacon sandwich" election was the turning point IMO. Then David Cameron got in, and we got Brexit and Trump. Although Trump isn't our fault Grin

We're living through the post truth era.

I've just read through the most ridiculous thread on twitter about why biological sex isn't binary and 'female' is a social construct. Not clownfish this time, but blackbirds - which is a new one to me. Sometimes this feels like a crazy sort of insanity - like it's not real. Like I'm going to wake up in a minute.

Why sex not being binary (it is!) is used as an argument for TWAW, I just don't get. Post truth.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 10/12/2019 14:11

I have a postal vote and always send it off well in advance.

I'm still floating. I've voted Lib De more than for other parties - and I simply CANNOT vote for this sort of misogynistic nonsense.

If you can't understand that humans are a dimorphic species then how on earth can you understand the nuances of the tax system?

Jo Swinson is a female at the top of her career path. I feel so let down that this is the role model for my daughter, saying shite she knows is not true.

No idea who I'm going to vote for. SNP probably, while they've got wee Mhairi "women who disagree with me are cunts" Black they've also got women who are prepared to say "women are allowed to disagree and debate their rights"/

It's a big vote winner.

DodoPatrol · 10/12/2019 15:11

I think only female blackbirds lay eggs.

In fact, I know they do.

Are they getting confused because in birds, it's the male that has two matching sex chromosomes (ZZ) and the female has two different ones (ZW), unlike in mammals?

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 10/12/2019 15:42

It's their "gotcha" - except it's based on the delusion that women can't spot a man a mile off.

I was blocked on Twitter earlier today by a transperson when I said, as part of a discussion we were having about the GRA/self-ID "don't think women can't tell a male from a female regardless of trappings. We can, up until now we've just had no reason not to be polite about it".

It was also interesting to note than in their first response to my (factual) tweet, they went straight to personal insults and continued in that vein throughout. In successive tweets I was told to 'piss off', called a plank, too stupid to understand simple English, a bigot, a transphobe and a thick cunt. It felt like a very typically aggressively male way of arguing, interestingly.

Topic? Err...I hope Jo Swinson has a nice big garden, because she's going to be spending a lot of time there after Thursday. And Anna from Warwickshire is a shero.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 10/12/2019 15:43

...to my (factual) initial tweet, that was meant to say.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 10/12/2019 17:12

It's the Emperor's New Clothes isn't it? We tell you there is no such thing as being male and female, so that's the new reality. No one is allowed to say anything else or they are not being 'inclusive'. We are all now things and exactly the same. Utter nonsense. If people don't stand up and shout about how ludicrous this nonsense is, I hate to think where we will be as a nation in a generation.

merrymouse · 10/12/2019 17:21

Just watched her on this morning.

She keeps focusing the conversation on toilets rather than prisons and refuges and talking about signs saying men are cleaning the loo - the sign is there so that people can decide not to use the loo!!!!!!!!

And she goes on and on about safety through 'individual risk assessment.'

And then she laughs about being told by a Lib Dem member to wear a lower cut top because ha, ha, ha, it's just a funny story...

11.32. Compare the reactions of Holly, Philip and Jo.

RoyalCorgi · 10/12/2019 17:24

Why sex not being binary (it is!) is used as an argument for TWAW, I just don't get.

Exactly. If you believe that sex exists on a continuum rather than as a binary, then it makes absolutely no sense for men to claim they are really women or vice versa. As soon as a man says "I'm really a woman, and I demand access to women's spaces" then he has admitted the existence of a sex binary. DUH.
