Why Hannah Mouncey wasn't picked for the world championships

Mouncey says: "I can confirm that yes, I was left out of the team for the World Championships because there was a group of players within the team, supported by the team manager, who did not want me showering or using the change rooms before or after the game."

Good on those women who stood up against being forced to share showers and changing rooms with a male bodied person.

Obviously Hannah is feeling a bit aggrieved but is putting on a brave face: www.starobserver.com.au/opinion/people-will-do-whats-easy-over-whats-right-hannah-mouncey-speaks-out/190555

They wouldn’t be allowed nowadays though would they? The ‘boys’ could dress up in any hideous drag or blackface and get away it but the ‘ahhh am a laudeeeee’ sketch wouldn’t happen.

I do find that if you share a story about women’s sport that includes Hannah Mouncey with her team, regardless of how Hannah is posed or the text of the article, people would think you are circulating a fake and anti-LGBT article. Including Hannah is just so obviously, obviously unfair to women wishing to take part, people can’t believe it’s really happening. It’s really happening. This is not a drill.

Those Little Britain sketches wouldn’t happen now, because those unlikely scenes are On The News.

That's hilarious. Do they think someone has photoshopped Mouncey to look more massive, or that they've just taken a random male athlete and photoshopped them into a pic of a women's game?

OneEpisode · 31/05/2020 02:03

I’m not suspected of having photoshopping skills so I dunno. But, but, but. The deep voice. The reference to of course, always and exclusively attracted to “chicks”. It’s all so Titania McGrath.

That video. At the age of 25 years old "Hannah took drugs and went back into puberty but this time as a girl"

Ah, no. That really isn't what happened.

@CatandtheFiddle I thought he look like a sullen, out of condition, plain Hemsworth.

I've got admit, though, I don't want to insult the Hemsworths, because they all seem lovely.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 09:02

I haven't heard anyone talk about "chicks" irl in about 20 years. That's some vintage misogynistic bollocks, that is.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 09:03

Hemsworth is also able to laugh at himself, a trait that Mouncey rather notably lacks.

Destroyedpeople · 31/05/2020 09:09

Jesus he is built like a brick shit house and had a penis...is he getting off on this?

He shouldn't be playing on a women's team full stop. What about women's safety....is that less important than the feelings of a confused man in a dress...?

Destroyedpeople · 31/05/2020 09:10

Has not had. Ffs.

I thought it was interesting that the report slid over the "crippling social anxiety" Mouncey experienced.

I've no doubt that Mouncey's sense of some sort of dysphoria and anxiety is genuine and kudos (in Australia) to Mouncey for admitting that they have a mental health issue - masculinity in Australia can be extremely toxic and misogynistic (in my experience of living there for 20 years in my youth). But I'd have thought a really intense lot of therapy might have helped Mouncey better than taking all sort of artificial hormones, which clearly seem to make the dysphoria more pronounced, rather than less.

But the interview seemed to demonstrate a level of arrogance that suggests that any amount of artificial hrmones doesn't outdo social conditioning ...
