Why Hannah Mouncey wasn't picked for the world championships

Mouncey says: "I can confirm that yes, I was left out of the team for the World Championships because there was a group of players within the team, supported by the team manager, who did not want me showering or using the change rooms before or after the game."

Good on those women who stood up against being forced to share showers and changing rooms with a male bodied person.

Obviously Hannah is feeling a bit aggrieved but is putting on a brave face: www.starobserver.com.au/opinion/people-will-do-whats-easy-over-whats-right-hannah-mouncey-speaks-out/190555

What's the difference between showering with a heterosexual male who thinks they're a woman and showering with any other heterosexual male? Nobody has ever even attempted to answer that as far as I can tell, even asking it seems to be forbidden.

(Waits for reports to pour in)

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 08:04

Because they feel like a woman 🙄. Can’t you tell (even naked in the shower with working anatomy, and a penchant for the ladies...)?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 08:06

I mean, most heterosexual males probably wouldn't do anything other than look, but a. that's more than enough to make the experience miserable for the woman, b. we do not consent to that when we enter what's meant to be a women's space and c. what about the ones who will do more?

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 08:08

Well I’m sure if they did something ‘inappropriate’ they would be vigorously asked to leave (the victim not the perpetrator).

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 08:09

There's always tutting, of course. We all know how males fear a good tut.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 08:11

Oh yes I forgot the power unleashed when you tut.

Only just yesterday - I was being attacked by seven ninja assassins. I held up my head, opened my mouth and unleashed my ‘tut’. They all fell down dead...

KatvonHostileExtremist · 10/12/2019 09:00

I'd like to thank Hannah for one of the most nauseating pieces of narcissism I think I've ever read.
I particularly enjoyed the emotional blackmail at the end. Nice touch.

I really hope the women didn't want hannah on the team, because winning by cheating is wrong too. I'd prefer to lose than do that to other teams.

I'm doing my hardest tut

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 09:03

"What, is someone tutting? Sorry, I can't hear you over my massive ego"

(Imagine I had a much deeper voice and an Aussie accent)

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 10/12/2019 09:10

I’m imagining a Marilyn Monroe ‘some like it hot’ voice actually...

Betty Boop!

Telling people that their not meekly allowing you to violate their boundaries makes you angry makes the whole "yeah but crime would be dealt with" thing meaningless, because if you've already made it clear that you don't think other people should be allowed to have boundaries then clearly you are operating on a very different definition of what a crime is to almost everyone else

Yes, this.

Also, whilst obviously any crime being prosecuted and criminal found guilty is a good thing, it doesn't make the victim untraumatised does it? The damage is done, and can't be undone by a successful prosecution. What is wrong that they keep trotting out the 'well, we'll deal with crime if it occurs' it's infuriating. I don't leave my house or car unlocked and think 'well, i'll just deal with the crime if it happens'. M&S and the rest don't leave their tills full of money every night - why not? Why don't they just 'deal with inapproprate' stealing of money after the fact if they expect women to do the same. The double standards and throwing women and girls under the bus is so clear.

Anyway, yes, Hannah. Given his statements I'd definitely trust him a lot less than most men, and give a wide wide berth to any space I might be alone with him in.

MyMajesty · 10/12/2019 12:08

Absolutely.
Even if there are no crimes at all, we'll know that there are sneaky glances and dodgy thoughts going on.

It's all about 'everyone being comfortable' and women are not comfortable changing with men.

andyoldlabour · 10/12/2019 12:30

I think most heterosexual males wouldn't actually like to change and shower with women. If it was me, I would feel very uncomfortable.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 12:37

I'd imagine most decent men would a. feel self conscious themselves and b. feel even more so if they got an erection. So again, the fact that certain people are so insistent about this tells you something about them.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 10/12/2019 12:38

So many people spend their whole lives trying to please others and giving in to everything that is asked of them, and being able to develop the skills and confidence to say no is truly wonderful.’

A bit like your teammates who smiled and said nothing and gave in when you took the place of a natal woman on the team, and have finally developed the skills and confidence to say no to you forcing your intact male body into their sex segregated spaces? Yes Hannah, that is indeed truly fucking wonderful.

MrGHardy · 10/12/2019 23:05

“PEOPLE WILL DO WHAT’S EASY OVER WHAT’S RIGHT”

Um, nowadays simply bowing to trans ideology is the easy thing but ok, go off.

littlbrowndog · 10/12/2019 23:21

Yeah mouncey. Taking a woman’s place on team

Then got the power to get into the press so,you could whine.

No thoughts or empathy for the woman you displaced

In the press where you got the power to get your whiny words published

“Same shit, different pronouns”

Yup. That about sums it up for me. Oh well.

How very ladylike!

Babdoc · 28/05/2020 09:14

I’m delighted that Mouncey is off the team, but worried that it was just because of the changing room issue. If Mouncey had agreed to change separately, does that mean they would have played?
Many referees and umpires in women’s sports are speaking out about their duty to protect players’ safety on the pitch - and saying they would refuse to supervise a match where male bodied players were potentially injuring females, as they could be sued for allowing it.
It should be blindingly obvious that men do not belong in women’s sports, whatever their “feelz” or internal “gender identity”.
The solution is a transgender sports league, like the Paralympics. A “third space” of sport, if you will.

Lordfrontpaw · 28/05/2020 09:15

I just love the face of number 44.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 28/05/2020 09:19

Her face is the face that launched a thousand memes.

I love it too. 👍

Winesalot · 28/05/2020 09:28

I suspect that the wider Australian public has just had a wake up call when the Australian Science Academy declared they had for inclusive purposes redefined woman.

It seems to have awakened debate that Victoria has just changed the rules for changing birth certificate sex.

I suspect that there will be a lot more discussion about it. And frankly, I think there will be greater pushback on those saying it is phobic to actually have that discussion.
