Just that. I feel like the only option available to me is spoiling my ballot which is clearly a terrible waste.

I'm in a very marginal Labour / Tory seat. I would love to be able to vote Labour but can't bring myself to support a party that wants to destroy women's hard won rights, especially if my vote is then used to justify support for self-ID a la Brexit. I've even contemplated voting Conservative (a position I never thought I would be in) but think I will end up spoiling my ballot paper.

arethereanyusernamesleftatall · 07/12/2019 21:29

Voting tactically to keep the Tories out.

Plus my MP is GC (even if his party isn't) so that helps.

Daughterofmabel · 07/12/2019 21:29

Hate them all. Spoiling

fridgegrazer · 07/12/2019 21:31

Safe Labour seat and doing a protest vote (spoiling). I have prepared a sticky label to save time and make sure it's legible saying something along the lines of "I would vote for a party which defines woman as adult human female and which safeguards women's rights according to the Equalities Act".

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 07/12/2019 21:31

Safe SNP seat but crap gives the party sound bite on Self ID MP (not woke but possibly stupid, definitely party first women last)
So I may hold my nose & vote SNP because there are some fantastic GC SNP voices.

What scares me though is that a coalition government will agree on one thing easily - to screw women over Sad

AuntyElle · 07/12/2019 21:32

Can’t vote Labour because of their institutional anti-semitism. The accounts just leaked from the EHRC inquiry are appalling.
Can’t vote Green or LibDem due to their gender idiocy and betrayal of women and children.
Can’t vote Tory cos they’re unmitigated bastards.
Feel awful not voting or spoiling ballot.’it doesn’t sit well with me at all.

randomsabreuse · 07/12/2019 21:32

Lib Dem because all the main parties are pretty useless on this issue - so my vote won't change this point. Therefore move on to other important issues (Brexit, NHS).

My seat is very safe Tory but MP is stupid - so Lib Dem has the least worst chance in my opinion (tactical vote sites are split).

weebarra · 07/12/2019 21:33

Tight race between SNP and Labour here. Seriously thought about spoiling my ballot but think I will vote SNP.

Somerville · 07/12/2019 21:34

Tactical anti-Tory vote, after a lot of heartsearching.

With a very poorly child right now, I'll fight to retain a single sex ward for her after I've fought to keep the NHS for her.

Justhadathought · 07/12/2019 21:40

I'll be spoiling my ballot. Can not, in good conscience, vote for any of them. Too many important issues to be 'holding my nose' any more.

MajesticWhine · 07/12/2019 21:43

I'm voting LD based on Brexit and other issues. Not at all happy about it but have to vote based on other important issues which I agree with them on.

Tanith · 07/12/2019 21:44

LibDem.

I don't care what Jo Swinson says, she's not standing in my constituency. I can't see her lasting long, anyway.

The LibDem candidate in my constituency does want my vote and he stands the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate.

If Labour stood a chance here, I'd be voting for them.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 07/12/2019 21:49

I have a choice effectively between the SNP or the Tories. So, SNP.

Fullyhuman · 07/12/2019 22:01

Labour. They’ve promised to negotiate a sensible Brexit deal within 3 months and to put it vs Remain to the electorate within 6mo. Given that we (Remain) did lose the referendum this is imo the best approach on offer from any of the parties.

Labour’s is the only manifesto to undertake to protect sex-based rights. I know that that would be rendered meaningless if self ID allowed people to legally change sex, but I believe there are enough GC women in and out of the Labour Party to ensure this doesn’t happen and that the spirit of the promise is upheld.

weebarra · 07/12/2019 22:14

Incidentally, my parents ARE in Jo Swinson's constituency. My mum is a wee bit gender critical and my dad is a pro EU old school Tory. My dad says that this is the first time in his life he doesn't know who to vote for. And this is a man who over 72 years has gone from Communism to Conservative.
Neither of them will be voting for Jo.

Janaih · 07/12/2019 22:19

Keep changing my mind between labour and lib dems. It's a nightmare Confused

littlbrowndog · 07/12/2019 22:19

Not a fucking clue. All my mates are same

We just don’t know. We all vote in past now 🤷‍♀️

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 07/12/2019 22:22

DH was muttering about there just being the bloody BNP left...

Beamur · 07/12/2019 22:22

In a marginal seat.
Have voted Labour as incumbent Tory MP is dreadful on many issues. Labour candidate is a decent person.
I'm not voting on this issue alone.

Angryresister · 07/12/2019 22:43

Lib dem / labour. Mp was labour, strong remainer but hasn’t answered my questions on self ID.last time voted Lib Dem for their clear remain policy .this time I will put a cross in the labour box add no to self ID..never ever for tories, but now not Lib who say I am not welcome. I feel resentful we are not able to get a strong feminist party together...at least in the Euro elections I could vote for the Feminist Initiative Party. No seats but 33000 voted for them...24 in my small town...still trying to find them!

OhHolyJesus · 07/12/2019 22:48

Spoiling here (safe Tory seat) and not happy about it. Green supporter and would have voted tactically for LDs if it wasn't for the shit show that is Swinson and their awful manifesto with Self ID and Spousal veto removal, and if my LD candidate hadn't responded to my concerns about the above by talking about tampons.

I've made peace with it now though, I know I will be in good company judging by this thread.

We all have a voice, a vote and some issues are bigger than others - Brexit/Boris is huge but I'm not sacrificing my rights or others Women’s over it. Not a chance.

EnormousSexyCrimeUnit · 07/12/2019 23:05

I know and respect the Labour candidate (former colleague) but can't bring myself to vote for Corbyn.
Cannot contemplate voting Lib Dem, confirmed after hearing Jo Swinson on Woman's Hour. Ditto Greens.
Incumbent MP had been a Tory rebel but is now back in the fold with the whip restored - might have considered voting for him on local issues alone had he stood as an independent, but have never voted Conservative in my life and don't plan to start now.

I am not against tactical voting or even a spot of nose holding, but for the first time ever cannot bear the thought of giving any of them my vote and am considering spoiling. Do those of you who plan to do so really believe this will register as a protest?

Ikeameatballs · 07/12/2019 23:21

I’m really struggling. In a Labour seat, think I will vote Labour but find the anti-semitism and some of the policies hard to stomach. Couldn’t vote for BoJo because I think he has no understanding of the lives of the majority of the population. Can’t vote for Jo Swindon due to her ideas re gender. Looked at the local Green Party website but the appalling punctuation and spelling put me off.

In the end I will prob vote Labour but certainly not happily. In fact I probably want them to lose and choose a different leader who might then make them truly electable.

AnotherEmma · 07/12/2019 23:29

Labour. I'm in a Labour/Lib Dem marginal. In my constituency there is a high proportion of Remain voters. The Labour MP is a committed, vocal Remainer. I don't agree with the way Labour has positioned itself on Brexit but I can't fault my own MP. And my values are (and always have been) more closely aligned to the Labour Party.

And quite frankly, while I obviously care about women's rights and free speech, Brexit is the biggest issue in this election, along with the perennial theme of trying to stop the fucking Tories fucking up the NHS and the entire country. So if I was in a Tory/Lib Dem marginal I would hold my nose and vote Lib Dem.

I wish we had a fairer electoral system (FPTP is shit) but we don't so there it is.

EL2019 · 07/12/2019 23:44

In a key marginal so voting Labour. Current labour MP is a remainer and doing everything they can to make sure Brexit isn’t a disaster. but Torys are close behind so every vote counts.

I agree withfullyhuman’s reason re Brexit and GC for voting Labour.
