Just that. I feel like the only option available to me is spoiling my ballot which is clearly a terrible waste.

I feel politically homeless. None of the parties represent what I believe. I will probably hold my nose and vote Lib Dem next Thursday. I am in a Home Counties true blue seat but the Times poll predicts the Libdems to be the second party here, with the best chance of unseating the Tories. I'm not happy about, but with the 31 January deadline looming, Brexit is my more immediate concern. There will be time to work on the gender bullshit later. I do resent voting for a party that has indicated it doesn't want votes from "my sort".

FlyingOink · 07/12/2019 20:53

I've written this on the "Labour's pledge re exemptions" thread, but I'm going to repeat it here:
It's not my fault the Labour Party don't give a fuck about women. It's their own fault. If they want to endanger those impoverished children by throwing away women's votes and failing to get into government that's on them.
Maybe the Labour Party should be looking at the bigger picture.

I firmly believe that the parties are relying on women holding their noses and voting for them anyway, and the fact that Labour are willing to lose votes to look woke means they can't be that bloody concerned about ending austerity.

rednsparkley · 07/12/2019 20:55

For the first time ever I will be spoiling my paper, I don't want to though. I cannot vote Tory, Labour, LibDem or Green ☹️

I live in an extrenely safe Labour seat, so safe they don't even bother canvassing anywhere 🙄 You could put a red ribbon on a dead dog and they'd vote it in here!

Herocomplex · 07/12/2019 20:55

Holding my nose, voting LD to get the very Brexity Tory out.

FlyingOink · 07/12/2019 20:57

55rednsparkley I've got the same four options and the same scenario here, except the rosette is blue.
I'm definitely spoiling my ballot.

BuckingFrolics · 07/12/2019 21:00

Labour. LDs can fuck off imo. At least labour will put Brexit to another vote.

FlyingOink · 07/12/2019 21:00

I don't want to cause a fight, but do those of you who voted remain believe there is a way to stop Brexit? My impression of remain voters I have spoken to is that they generally have accepted Brexit is happening, even if they disagree with it.

(I don't want to debate leave Vs remain)

Hazardexhausted · 07/12/2019 21:02

Use tactical voting websites. None of the parties are perfect for women but the Tories will be responsible for 200,000 avoidable deaths by the end if 2020. UC disproportionately hurt women. There's unprecedented medication shortages which are set to get worse.

Tactical voting. Tactical voting. Tactical vote.

FlyingOink · 07/12/2019 21:03

None of the parties are perfect for women, but are there any that will allow us to continue to exist?

Hazardexhausted · 07/12/2019 21:04

www.remainunited.org/

sue51 · 07/12/2019 21:08

I'm GC remainer. I live in a safe tory seat so I will be spoiling my ballot paper. It feels wrong to do this but I can't see an alternative.

ExpletiveFairylighted · 07/12/2019 21:09

AllYouGoodGoodPeople - same here. Labour have definitely upped their game here in the last few years, before that they were invisible. I've met the Labour candidate and discussed my concerns about GRA reform, safe spaces etc, I was listened to and not fobbed off or told TWAW. So, Labour are getting my vote.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/12/2019 21:11

Labour safe seat.

After much tooing and froing, green. I personally know a lot of GC green candidates bizarrely. Plus the deep green rebellion is GC. Have always voted lib. Dem.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 07/12/2019 21:15

My tactical vote apparently would be Labour - 25% vs LD with 23%. Perhaps I should email the Labour candidate and ask what she actually stands for.

JazzyJelly · 07/12/2019 21:16

Labour, but only because i consider brexit the more urgent risk.

thetoddleratemyhomework · 07/12/2019 21:17

Voting Tory for this reason - recent statements suggest no change of law needed is their view. It's my only hope

DCIRozHuntley · 07/12/2019 21:18

I'm in a marginal seat (very marginal - 43 votes in it in 2015) The current MP was Labour but is now independent. I'm going to vote Labour. It's not ideal but it's the least worst option, obviously austerity and NHS cuts and repercussions of Brexit fall disproportionately on women. If this turns out to be a.seminal moment in history I want to tell myself I did what little I could, using my vote to actually try and change things.

PencilsInSpace · 07/12/2019 21:20

Safe Labour seat and I'm spoiling.

morningtoncrescent62 · 07/12/2019 21:20

Labour. I think the Tories would be an utter disaster for the country - we'll be out of the EU on no deal, our economy will be devastated and our NHS will be parcelled up and sold off to multinational sharks. None of that will be good for women.

Labour's moved quite a lot in recent weeks/months and I'm hopeful of further change. The Scottish manifesto doesn't have a commitment to self-ID, just to listening and participating in debate, alongside enforcing the single-sex exemptions. A few months ago that would have been unthinkable. There's obviously division in the party and things are moving - in our direction.

Having said that, if I lived in a very safe seat I'd give some serious consideration to writing something about women's rights on my ballot paper. My constituency isn't ultra-marginal, but enough to make me think there's a point in voting.

Jenala · 07/12/2019 21:21

I can't vote Tory - I try not to be too tribal and with the right (centrist) type of leader I might have considered them, but Boris Johnson it the most useless pathetic idiot and watching him use tactics straight out of the Trump playbook is just awful.

I can't vote Labour, I'm not going to get into an argument about anti-Semitism other than to say I've watched it develop with growing horror ever since I voted for Corbyn in the party leadership vote, so a long time. This fucks me off as I've always been a Labour voter, and I'm so disappointed my vote helped him to make the party unelectable.

Was going to vote Lib Dem, I felt the gender issues were the ones most possible to fight compared to the problems with Conservative and Labour. But Swinson has doubled and tripled down and now with the info about her donors I can't do it.

Only other candidates are Brexit Party which is a no for obvious reasons and Green which I don't think are any better than Lib Dem. I'm in a pretty safe Labour seat so it's looking more and more like I will have to spoil my ballot.

Lumene · 07/12/2019 21:22

This:

Have voted Tory (postal vote), the country got a say in Brexit even if I don’t agree, but we are being steamrollered over what a woman is.

Also Corbyn in charge won’t help anyone who needs financial or practical support. He has no idea what he’s doing and doesn’t think much of democracy either.

BeyondVotesForFlube · 07/12/2019 21:23

I'm disabled and on UC so it's gonna have to be labour.

Worst case scenario I can fight against the erasure of women's rights so long as I'm housed, fed and not dead.

I can't fight against Brexit in the worst case Tory scenario though. Melodramatic as that may sound.

Lumene · 07/12/2019 21:25

Plus I met my labour candidate who was all understanding about GC issues and then came out with a completely different view in public. So they get it and say they agree with the issues particularly around child safeguarding in private - but in public say the opposite. Not voting for that.

WrathofFaeKlop · 07/12/2019 21:28

I won't vote for any party who is intending to change the law on self ID. Ever.

Voice0fReason · 07/12/2019 21:28

Labour - it's the only tactical vote that stands a chance of a hung parliament
