Just that. I feel like the only option available to me is spoiling my ballot which is clearly a terrible waste.

Labour.
The Tory MP in my constituency has an unassailable majority.

I'm voting for an end to austerity and for a second referendum.

I think we can shake Labour out of their wokeness after the General Election.

Moonsick · 08/12/2019 00:13

Voting labour in a marginal seat. The Tory cuts are destroying my town and women and children are bearing the brunt of it. I see the results of their policies every day at work, I could never vote for another 4 years of Tory rule.

My Tory MP has voted for every cut and needs to go. He had a previous majority of 5000 votes, but every poll has shown him now neck and neck with labour. I want to make sure I do my bit to get the fucking wanker out.

I do believe that any attempt to implement TRA ideology by a political party is likely to bring sunlight and disinfectant to the issue. The vast majority of the population are either currently unaware, or don’t believe it will affect them, but I think would act with outrage to any proposed changes once their impact is made clear.

JellySlice · 08/12/2019 00:22

Spoiling. "Transwomen are men. Protect women's rights."

Not a hope of unseating the Tory incumbent, and all the other candidates are out and proud AWAs.

Itsallgonetoofar · 08/12/2019 00:45

First time ever don't know.
Strong Tory seat with popular good local female MP who is quietly GC

My natural inclination is Labour and in past if I've ever not been able to decide I'd vote for the female candidate of any party.

Despite being fervently Remain and still hoping something will happen to stop it I can't just can't vote Lib Dem. I can't vote for a party that has publically said they don't want women to vote for them.

I can't vote for Johnson's Tory party.

The anti semitism in Corbyns Labour by itself would be a major problem. Coupled with the Momentum anti women in general and the lack of consideration for Muslim women who will retreat from public facilities rather than share changing areas with men I really can't see how I can vote Labour even though under normal circumstances the local candidate is an old fashioned socialist with the sort of views I support.

What the fuck do I do? Sad

OccasionalKite · 08/12/2019 01:16

I'm in a staunch Labour constituency. My vote for another party, down all the years, has counted for nothing, not even close. Still, I've turned up t vote each election.

But now, the other party that I usually vote for, has come out in favour of gender self-id.

So it's a spoiled ballot for me this time.

I like other spoilers' suggestion of writing what you want to say, on a sticky label beforehand, to simply stick on your ballot paper, rather than having to scribble it all down in the voting booth!

A very good idea, and I shall consider my wording over the next few days. Probably along the lines of "Women don't have penises" and "Women's rights matter. Women = Adult Human Females" and "men are not women, men can never be women", or something similar.

OccasionalKite · 08/12/2019 01:18

JellySlice, that's a good one:

"Transwomen are men. Protect women's rights."

outtathelefteyei · 08/12/2019 01:30

www.votenone.org.uk/protest_votes_count.html

Is this correct? I'm stuck too, but in a safe lab seat and totally pissed off with JC/momentum/anti-semitism/trans stuff.

Is this way to spoil ballot legit? I'm not usually so anarchist so haven't got a clue if advice on that site a load of bollocks...

TheTinselrati · 08/12/2019 01:50

I'm not supporting any party for all the GC reasons.

But I am voting strategically anti Brexit - which means labour round here.

I have confidence in the GC movement and women's activism to take on whoever wins on sex rights basis, as and when we need too.

Brexit and Tories are dreadful for women & children- one step at a time. I can't spoil my ballot if there is a possibility we can get Tory mp out.

Staffori · 08/12/2019 02:00

In a safe Labour seat so spoiling. If I was in a marginal I'd vote tactically against the Tory and with a heavy heart as I hate the lot of them.

KristinaM · 08/12/2019 02:27

I’m a GC remainer in a marginal Conservative seat so will be voting tactically for the SNP.

If I was in a safe seat I’d be tempted to spoil my vote as I’m unhappy with the SNP policies on women’s rights.

Nappyvalley15 · 08/12/2019 09:29

Spoiling my ballot. Can't endorse any of them.

dayoftheclownfish · 08/12/2019 09:56

I am an EU citizen living in Britain. The result of the referendum has had a direct impact on my life. Directly after the Brexit referendum, I was abused on public transport when I spoke in my native language. I reluctantly went for British citizenship, so I could vote in any future EU referendum. So I am as Remain as you will get.

BUT the right of women to have their sex recognised as a political category is more important than membership in a TRADING BLOC. How do you know that EU institutions have not also been captured by the anti-women agenda?

If Lab, LD and SNP form a coalition, you can be sure what reform to the GRA and Equality Act will look like. It's one of the few things they agree on.

Voting Tory or spoiling my ballot seem to be the best options to me.

KizzyWayfarer · 08/12/2019 10:08

Voting tactically against the Tories, which means Labour here. Because austerity has caused so much suffering, disproportionately to women, because a no deal Brexit would crash the economy, because of the NHS, but also because of climate change. It’s interesting that no one’s mentioned that as far as I can see on this thread. There has been a lot of coverage on the news this year reminding us we are making irreversible changes to our planet’s ecosystem, people dying, wildfires, just a few years left to act, kids facing down politicians over their future... And Johnson wouldn’t even debate the issue while every comparison of the parties manifestos shows Labour/Lib Dem/Green good on climate, Tories scoring something like C-
Regarding gender self-ID, in practice I’d say it will be undeliverable because of lack of public support so it wouldn’t determine my vote.

ThreeLittleDuckies · 08/12/2019 10:09

Labour, I don't want too and I might change my mind last minute and spoil. But I'm also very worried about the tories getting into power. Women's right to vote was hard fought for, yet, in terms of women's rights, there's nobody to vote for. Very depressing. Really need a new political party....

merrymouse · 08/12/2019 10:12

After much thought Labour, because I don't think all the MPs have swallowed the Kool Aid, and somebody was trying to protect sex based rights when the manifesto was written.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 08/12/2019 10:15

Im letting dd decide

Interestingly she definitely doesn’t want lib dem ( possibly cos i said they weren’t brilliant with woman's rights...she doesn’t usually listen to me to be fair) or conservative

She is thinking labour or green ( no independent here) but i have said that she needs to look into it

She did an online test which said lib dem...ive a sneaking suspicion that it doesn’t matter what you tick, everyone Is lib dem on it

Otherwise i would spoil my vote i think...im so conflicted

merrymouse · 08/12/2019 10:16

(I'm in a completely safe Tory seat, so however I vote it's only a token vote.)

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 08/12/2019 10:17

Same merry

Floisme · 08/12/2019 10:22

I'm wavering between vote spoiling and Labour but, if was in a safer seat, I would spoil. I wouldn't use 'trans' in any message on the ballot paper though - I'd keep it to protecting rights for women and children.

koshkat · 08/12/2019 11:25

I can't help thinking that Labour in particular are taking our vote for granted and assuming that we will 'holding our nose' and vote for them. I am so very afraid that they will fuck us over completely if they get in. It is what they are telling us after all.

I am spoiling as it is all that I can do in good conscience. I cannot vote for the horrors of another Tory 4 years but I will not vote for a party that denies that a woman is an adult human female. I cannot!

So I will write a pre-prepared sticker and take it in to the booth with me.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/12/2019 11:46

If self id is in the manifesto that means an easy ride through parliament doesn’t it ? The pp who said my comment that I might actually vote Tory annoyed her, refuges etc mean nothing if they also include men. The loss of what it means to be female as a class is a huge issue, I have daughters, I feel this is the biggest issue overall as it affects all other provision for women.
As I said, it is likely I will vote Plaid, but I am considering voting Con. This is a close run area between Tory and Labour, I absolutely refuse to vote Labour.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 08/12/2019 11:49

I'm holding my nose and voting Labour - our MP is a notorious MRA, it's a two dog fight here and my number one priority is to get him out. He's reasonably vulnerable and quite high profile so we're hopeful of unseating him.

koshkat · 08/12/2019 12:06

And replacing him with who though? Someone who does not believe in women as a sex class?

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 08/12/2019 12:12

The Labour candidate seems like a sensible woman and I've emailed her to ask a couple of questions on the issue. I'm not prepared to abstain or spoil my ballot paper. IMO she'll have to be going some to be worse than a man who voted against making upskirting a crime.

ThreeLittleDuckies · 08/12/2019 12:13

What I find concerning is self-ID already exists. You can change you birth certificate to male/female if you can get a letter from your doctor saying you're serious about transition.
Yet you can't change your name on birth certificate, something that can actually change.
Why make it a case of just ticking a box? Reality matters.
