Lush has fallen
OP posts:

I mean, I know that definition is vague and includes everyone but hey, it's not our definition!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 01/12/2019 12:21

Lush havent had any further to fall for a long long time

Fraggling · 01/12/2019 12:38

Everyone with even a passing interest in this knows stonewall include cross dressers under the definition.

Fraggling · 01/12/2019 12:41

I had no idea about

Lush getting their staff to go out on UK streets with their arses out (we all know which sex will get more trouble when doing that)
Lush encouraging customers to kiss staff (we all know which sex will get more trouble when doing that)
Lush copying peta by 'raising awareness' by showing young women being brutalised.

Conclusion.
Lush don't like women, their core market.

tanstaafl · 01/12/2019 12:50

@cuteypie
Rather than being Lush, it should be renamed Boaking.

Grin
TheChampagneGalop · 01/12/2019 12:50

Lush getting their staff to go out on UK streets with their arses out (we all know which sex will get more trouble when doing that)

I saw that IRL, it was uncomfortable for people who passed by too. I thought maybe they were some nudist volunteers, but no it's the regular staff Shock uk.lush.com/article/go-naked

TheChampagneGalop · 01/12/2019 12:55

According to that link they've been doing that for a long time and one of the women has her tits out, that can't be legal workplace expectation for a cosmetics shop?

megletthesecond · 01/12/2019 13:07

yy Gibbon >> "Lush havent had any further to fall for a long long time".

I worked there for years and it's a mostly young, impressionable work force who won't rock the boat. Older people like me (and a left veggie) generally thought a lot of their schemes were going to piss people off. A lot of their products and their stance on animal testing are excellent, but they dilute it with this nonsense.

megletthesecond · 01/12/2019 13:08

lefty veggie.

SmallCalpolFiend · 01/12/2019 13:13

"Some trans people describe themselves as crossdressers" =/= "all crossdressers are trans". It may suit your outrage to say that Stonewall are claiming this, but it isn't true.

The definition is the first part: "people whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the sex they were assigned at birth".

koshkat · 01/12/2019 13:16

But sex is not assigned at birth. It is meaningless nonsense.

Fraggling · 01/12/2019 13:20

So a trans crossdresser would be eg a man who identifies as a woman but likes to dress up as a man sometimes?

Usually the reason being that they find it sexually arousing to do so?

Yes that makes sense.

Fraggling · 01/12/2019 13:22

Stonewall umbrella is clear, and so wide that most people in the world end up trans according to them.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/12/2019 13:36

From the times today...

‘Children as young as five should be taught about lesbian, gay and transgender issues in every subject, according to guidance issued to primary schools.

The voluntary guidance, from the campaign group Stonewall, has been launched to coincide with new relationships and sex education (RSE) lessons that will come into effect next September. Although parents will be allowed to remove their children from lessons focusing on sex, the relationships content is compulsory.’

So tell me agin why these charities/lobby groups need money and PR?

littlecabbage · 01/12/2019 13:58

I have a busy day at the mo, so will write a fuller answer later, but for now:

Stonewall don't classify anyone who cross-dresses as trans

See the glossary on their website, under "T":

www.stonewall.org.uk/help-advice/glossary-terms#t

Note the term "crossdresser" under the definition. Hope that helps.

ClientListQueen · 01/12/2019 14:04

@TheChampagneGalop they have. I did it in 2007 I think (I worked for Lush)

Jaxhog · 01/12/2019 14:16

Love the products - hate the politics. So no longer buying anything from them. I'm not alone. Sad, really.

TheChampagneGalop · 01/12/2019 14:45

ClientListQueen Did you feel that there was any pressure to participate in the nude campaign?

littlecabbage · 01/12/2019 15:08

SmallCalpolFiend

Please see the following link to understand why the often-quoted "40% risk of attempting suicide in transgender people" is wildly inaccurate:

www.transgendertrend.com/a-scientist-reviews-transgender-suicide-stats/

TheChampagneGalop · 01/12/2019 15:42

More info about their campaign where staff were kissed by customers: mitheringsfrommorningside.wordpress.com/2013/07/08/the-smell-of-bullshit-part-22-sexual-harassment-is-part-of-the-job/
The problem occurs when staff members are required to wear t-shirts that serve not only to promote the day, but also to act as evidence for the Guinness World Record attempt. What this meant was that the customers would be kissing our bodies for the entirety of the day.
I can't believe how misogynist this company, that focuses on selling fun bath products aimed at young women, is.

Clymene · 01/12/2019 16:22

I always find it a good idea to make sure of your facts before you confidently make assertions, otherwise you look a little foolish @SmallCalpolFiend - your assertions are in bold

Stonewall don't classify anyone who cross-dresses as trans
From the Stonewell website:

Trans people may describe themselves using one or more of a wide variety of terms, including (but not limited to) transgender, cross dresser, non-binary, gender queer.

Trans groups aren't lobbying to remove female-only spaces
Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence and Scottish Trans Alliance all submitted evidence to the GRA consultation doing precisely that. Collated evidence is here:

https://womansplaceuk.org/references-to-removal-of-single-sex-exemptions/

Or of course it's all visible on the U.K. parliament website.

It's not that easy for children to get medical help to transition, or even delay puberty
Before 2011, puberty blockers were only given to over 16s in the U.K.. Since then the age has lowered and lowered, with the youngest child being 11. Transgender treatment: Puberty blockers study under investigation www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-49036145
This is despite evidence that children have increased suicidal thoughts. Over 1000 children in the U.K. have now been prescribed blockers.

Your turn backing up the other assertions you made!

Faztastic · 01/12/2019 18:26

I was one of the women handing out leaflets and chatting to the customers, highlighting the untruths peddled in the media about Trans issues. I have to say the staff and customers were all fabulous and the kids loved making the bath bombs. Fabulous day, a worthy cause and zero negativity.

BarbaraStrozzi · 01/12/2019 18:32

Glad you enjoyed yourself Faz.

What's your position on male-bodied sex offenders in women's prisons?

What's your position on 6'4" male-bodied rugby players who (in their coach's words) can fold their opponents like deck chairs playing women's rugby?

What's your position on women who want female health care professionals for intimate procedures like smear tests?

Do let me have the view from unicorn and sparkles and bath bombs land, because I'd love to know.

Sunkisses · 01/12/2019 18:43

Lush...

  • Supported Mermaids in 2014
  • Allows their shops to continue to support trans groups who work to undermine women's rights and silence critics (like Trans Media Watch)
  • Lush North America ran a massive 'trans rights' campaign in Feb 2017 which called women 'cis'
  • Had a film on their homepage (which is visible to their many child customers) this year showing transsexual prostitutes, one with his penis poking out of his dress, talking about being paid to have sex with other men
  • Have products called 'Sex Bomb' marketed at children, and invite children to 'get someone you really like' to come in the shower with them to show them how to use shower gel Shock
  • Exploit their workers:
twitter.com/mondayfake/status/1195255732695961603 and mitheringsfrommorningside.wordpress.com/tag/lush/
  • Cowardly came off social media so they cannot be challenged and do not have to answer customers/critics
koshkat · 01/12/2019 18:55

I was one of the women handing out leaflets and chatting to the customers, highlighting the untruths peddled in the media about Trans issues.

Maybe you could share some of those 'untruths' with us?
