it was interesting to note one of the blokes saying that all the women in his life are incredibly pissed off about trans overreach and will go off about it the second they feel safe to do so. That's a man who's never had a feminist thought in his life and he's still noticed the fact that women are bloody angry about all this.
Yes, that stood out for me too. "when they felt safe to do so" is so telling. 1)women are angry about this, but feel silenced and unsafe speaking about it, and, 2) Posie made them (and a lot of others) think about it.
Posie is brave, honest, pragmatic, caring, impulsive, straight-talking - and she gets to an audience that feminist academic types (who I also admire immensely) just don't reach.
Anyone who thinks feminist academic types alone can win this for women (and by win, I mean retain women's sex-based rights) just isn't paying attention. TRA tendrils are everywhere - in all our institutions. IMO we need to be realistic - we need a multi-faceted approach. The Kathleen Stocks, the Jean Hatchets, the Janice Turners, etc and the Glinners, Harrys, Jonathan Bests etc and posie parker, Julia Long, Venice Allen, et al - we need them all.
There is an existential threat to women's rights, children's health and safety, academic freedom and freedom of speech. It's not just a feminist issue anymore.
