I really have to impress on everyone just how important it is to get out and vote Labour. The Tories have done nothing for anyone other than their rich buddies, and our present PM is a sexist bigot. Please vote Labour to save the NHS. Please.

I'm voting Lib Dem to keep the SNP candidate out.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/12/2019 15:40

It's sad to see that after all this government has done that they look likely to retain power and get a majority into the bargain.

You could also look at it like it's good to see that after all the opposition have done, they will be prevented from taking power and enacting their rabidly anti-woman agenda on real people.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 15:48

My nose is connected to the rest of my body, which remains female and needs access to single sex spaces. Any party that wants to remove that possibility is actively doing me harm.

anynamewilldo33333333333333333 · 10/12/2019 16:25

Labour has the best policy regarding women's sex based rights.

Noses all over the floor...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:29

No, it does not.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 16:40

So are women’s spaces more important than women who are currently suffering under a Tory government? I can’t actually believe that people are saying they’re going to vote Tory to protect women’s rights. That is a joke right?

Women suffer immeasurably more under Tories. Single mothers, women that can’t afford a decent education so get stuck in min wage jobs and can’t get out, appalling mental health care for women, appalling healthcare regarding birth issues, menopause, reproductive health. Because Tories underfund horrifically. It’s been proven time and time again that women are worse off under Tory rule.

Fair enough don’t let people tell you who to vote for, but don’t say you’re a feminist when you’re voting to prolong people’s - especially women’s - suffering.

ThePurported · 10/12/2019 16:41

There is no practical difference between the self id policies of Labour and Lib Dems that I can see. Lib Dems are more open about their plans, that's all.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 16:41

Not to mention the absolute joke that is the ‘support’ to get women out of domestic violence situations. Police can’t do anything because they’re underfunded, there’s no where for women to go because refuges have been closed or are full to the brim. Tories aren’t going to stop this happening.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:44

All Labour needs to do to get back the support of the women who they've lost is to change course on this issue. The question people should be asking is why they aren't doing that.

ThePurported · 10/12/2019 16:46

Mustard I wouldn't vote for antivaxxers, no matter how nice and caring and feminist their other policies were. Self id is the same for me. It's anti science and dangerous.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:48

Well, and then there's Corbyn, who many are deeply uncomfortable with. If a leader is unelectable then they have to go, because the party as a whole is more important than they are.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 16:49

@ThePurported fine, but don’t vote for women’s suffering and deaths for one policy.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:53

Another way to look at it is, this is a Brexit type issue in that once done it's not going to be easy to undo. It's not something where a bad policy is in place and creates damage and can then be reversed at the next election. If the legal changes that Labour, the LibDems, and the SNP (and the Greens but they may as well not exist from an electoral perspective) are supporting go through then the damage could take generations to undo. What's being proposed is a fundamental change to how humans are legally classified, and that impacts so many different things that it's like unleashing the bloody Kraken, and it's women and girls who're going to be the sacrifices.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:54

If you don't see that or don't care then that's your choice. You don't have the right to make that choice for other women.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 16:57

@TheProdigalKittensReturn but I do have the right to stand up for women that right now are living through horrific things because of our current government and their policies.

I’m not telling anyone what to do. I’m just beyond shocked that feminists are voting Tory as a way to protect women and girls. It doesn’t make any fucking sense.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 16:59

Not everyone refusing to vote Labour is voting Tory. Some aren't voting at all because they feel like every single party is going to screw them over in one way or another.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 17:01

When did I say vote Labour?

I was responding to the women on this thread that have said they are voting Tory. Not telling anyone what to do, merely including my thoughts on an open forum. And obviously expressing my ridicule at the thought of Tory being the right choice for women.

ThePurported · 10/12/2019 17:01

Ok, Mustard. I hope you're not astroturfing for the Tories? It's coming across that way.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/12/2019 17:03

Also as "my fears are valid but yours are very silly".

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 17:04

Just had to google ‘astroturfing’. So because I have a differing opinion I must be PR? Fucking hell, so just agree or shut the fuck up then? Nice.

StandUpStraight · 10/12/2019 17:06

don’t say you’re a feminist when you’re voting to prolong people’s - especially women’s - suffering

I’d say telling people what to do is exactly what you’re doing, mustard Fuck off with your “my feminism is better than your feminism”.

MustardScreams · 10/12/2019 17:10

Well I am just baffled, hence the question. I’m not saying my feminism is better than anyone else’s (?!) but I do not understand how anyone could vote Tory saying they’re standing up for women? It’s throwing them to the dogs, unless they’re millionaires of course.

lady69 · 10/12/2019 17:10

I’m voting Tory. My mp is GC and a rising in the party hierarchy. So has my vote. Lib dems are awful on women’s rights so they are out and labour aren't much better and are way too left leaning for me (and i love my Jewish friends so there’s that). There is no wrong vote. But there is a right way for each of us to vote depending on what we care about most personally. I have voted for all main parties over the years, plus green. I’m not tribal. Just... pragmatic.
