Call to action for Bravissimo customers

So any woman with large boobs quickly learn she a subset of men are obsessed and fetishise large breasts. Any woman without personal experience can confirm this by a quick look at a porn site.

So Bravissimo is loved by many of us. Up until now it's largely been a male free zone staffed by helpful women who are almost always with plenty of norkage themselves so they understand their customers challenges. Joanni Walshe's article in the Sun shows that is changing as they are saying they will welcome transgender customers.

I contacted customer services online to check, got a message that it's no time al all the case and if I left my phone number someone would ring me! Somewhat to my surprise they did, nice young woman spent 30mins telling me in shocked terms that of course they would never let a man in Bravissimo changing rooms but also explained that if someone's was 'on a journey to being a woman' they'd would be welcome. There was much talk of the 'woman on a journey' and of course they would never do anything that would lead to anyone being uncomfortable but that's even though I would be uncomfortable I was to be nice and kind to this person on a journey. Hmm

Several things struck me,

  • they've clearly were concerned about the numbers of customers getting in touch
  • the person I spoke to was very ignorant about transwomen, trans activism and woefully naive
  • they have give no thought to the dangers of hidden cameras being placed in their changing rooms and if we think about those men with a large boob fetish I think that is a real danger Envy not envy

Has anyone else contacted them? I may go into the Ealing branch to chat.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 16:23

@quickkimchi I'd send your partner or male friend just in case, to test it out.

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 16:30

(Was it the Ealing branch mentioned earlier? Or am I making that up?)

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 28/11/2019 16:44

I haven't seen FWR instigate a boycott of air bnb or hotels

Well, I don't use AirBnb (or Uber) because of the high risk, but sometimes I have to sleep somewhere, so a hotel it is.

On the other hand, I can buy my bras else-where if Bravissimo are going to have a policy I disagree with. Although it does sound like individual managers at least have a handle on this.

(and I have a 38 back, and H cups since kids, F before - so yes, well aware what size a D is, and I got plenty of comments on the size of mine before I became middle-aged and invisible)

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/11/2019 16:48

I think it's naivety at best, gaslighting at worst to assume that there is no elements of fetish involved in quotes like this....

Would biological women have this conservation? I'm thinking not.

It's a safeguarding issue, particularly for staff. It might not bother you lweji but you speak only for yourself 🤷‍♀️

Dangerfloof · 28/11/2019 16:52

Because no woman ever is going to make you feel uncomfortable while trying for bras
This gets trotted out often. So here's my final answer.
In my very long 50 and a bit years on this planet, the one and only time I was made uncomfortable by a woman was not in a bra shop. Or any shop, also I think I stood a fair chance of fighting her off if it had come to that.
So to counter that, how many times has a man made me feel uncomfortable? I dont think I can add them up. Average once a day at a guess. Chances of fighting any of them off if it came to it? Zero.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/11/2019 16:53

Oh and hitomi Tanaka, the person referenced in the last screenshot, is a porn star with massive fake boobs.

Absolutely nothing creepy to see here. Nope.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 16:54

I don't think anyone is denying that fetishism around breasts exist.

The issue on this thread is safety at Bravissimo.

Again, we are yet to determine if men have ever entered Bravissimo's changing rooms, even.

Dangerfloof · 28/11/2019 17:07

One shop already admitted that men go in, they just have a completely private room on a different floor for them. Still doesn't help the staff who may be unknowingly a part of the fetish.

LangCleg · 28/11/2019 17:09

A great deal of not giving a shit about relatively low paid Bravissimo staff on this thread, I see.

artisanparsnips · 28/11/2019 17:14

Actually, given the level of understanding and thought that Bravissimo have put into this, I imagine they have consulted their staff, and - who knows - maybe they have a right to opt out. Has someone asked them?

As far as I can tell, Bravissimo have done as much as they can to make the situation work for everyone. And what's the alternative?

Lweji · 28/11/2019 17:14

Nobody thinks of nurses or female doctors, either, then.

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 17:14

It is sometimes erroneously suggested that no risk exists where no previous problem has occurred, but anyone with a smoke alarm knows prevention and protection are part of ordinary everyday risk management.
As in links above, mixed sex changing areas increase women's risk, we know that.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 17:16

Bravissimo don't claim to have mixed changing areas, though.

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 17:18

I don't think the risk is increased by the claim, I think it's increased by the fact.

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 17:20

Lang yes I wonder what the staffroom chat is like on this subject.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 17:23

What fact?

That's what I'm trying to establish. Are there, for a fact, men mixing with women in Bravissimo changing rooms at all?
Do we have or know of staff experience such fetishists?

TBH, I'd worry more about staff at Victoria's Secret or similar.

The OP isn't even worried about their staff. She's worried about men in the next door cubicle to her or putting hidden cameras there.
She's not worried about female staff putting cameras there to sell images online, though, for example.

It must be hard living your life creating problems.

Dangerfloof · 28/11/2019 17:29

Do we have or know of staff experience such fetishists
Well fuck. Do not Google bravissimo and fetish. It wont end well.

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 17:32

As above. Those who don't think this situation constitues an actual risk are understandably unconcerned about staff or customers.

Namechangeyay · 28/11/2019 17:33

Fantastic to hear! I’ll be writing them a letter of support this evening.
(I’ve also never been to one staffed solely by women- maybe the stores I use are the exception?)

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/11/2019 17:34

Those quotes are all from people who identify as female, and will, after surgery need a bra.

Should a biological woman have to serve them, bravissimo style? That's what we are discussing. And it's an ethical issue.

Oh the it never happens arguement. Lol. Remember when we've been told that before..... toilets, prisons, etc.

It's the same issue as customs and police searches. Should workers be forced to have physical contact with members of the opposite sex?

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 17:36

"It must be hard living your life creating problems." A quick read of the feminism boards makes it clear that it is hard being a woman.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/11/2019 17:37

Wait, what, I've never seen a male member of staff in bravissimo. I've been going there years. I've used 3 different stores. Are you definitely talking about bravissimo the bra shop here name ??? !!!!!!!!

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/11/2019 17:38

👀👀👀

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 28/11/2019 17:44

It must be hard living your life creating problems.

I think you’ll find that it’s the male bodied people with fetishes that are creating the problem.
