Call to action for Bravissimo customers

So any woman with large boobs quickly learn she a subset of men are obsessed and fetishise large breasts. Any woman without personal experience can confirm this by a quick look at a porn site.

So Bravissimo is loved by many of us. Up until now it's largely been a male free zone staffed by helpful women who are almost always with plenty of norkage themselves so they understand their customers challenges. Joanni Walshe's article in the Sun shows that is changing as they are saying they will welcome transgender customers.

I contacted customer services online to check, got a message that it's no time al all the case and if I left my phone number someone would ring me! Somewhat to my surprise they did, nice young woman spent 30mins telling me in shocked terms that of course they would never let a man in Bravissimo changing rooms but also explained that if someone's was 'on a journey to being a woman' they'd would be welcome. There was much talk of the 'woman on a journey' and of course they would never do anything that would lead to anyone being uncomfortable but that's even though I would be uncomfortable I was to be nice and kind to this person on a journey. Hmm

Several things struck me,

  • they've clearly were concerned about the numbers of customers getting in touch
  • the person I spoke to was very ignorant about transwomen, trans activism and woefully naive
  • they have give no thought to the dangers of hidden cameras being placed in their changing rooms and if we think about those men with a large boob fetish I think that is a real danger Envy not envy

I'm worrying that behaviour I have already encountered will happen when I'm half naked and vulnerable in a place that up to now I'd felt safe.

I'm not telling people not to get married, despite previous bad experience.

Has anyone reported feeling uneasy at Bravissimo yet?

Jessrabbitit · 27/11/2019 21:02

Few points

Crossdressers are not covered under eq2010

My mum had breast cancer and has implants.

This thread is pointless and basically challenges anything that women would need

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 27/11/2019 21:14

female Bravissimo staff member is on her own in a cubicle with an AGP male asking her to assess how some lacy number

Is this Bravissimo fitters experiences?

The hidden camera stuff, if you read about the prosecutions rarely do any feature changing rooms, and if they do the culprit seems to be a staff member not a service users. Most of the convictions I've read about involve spaces which are under the full control of the culprit, rented accommodation hotel rooms etc. Places where the culprit has time to complete the set up and control over the WIFI.

JellySlice · 27/11/2019 21:15

Few points.

Crossdressers are covered by Stonewalls trans umbrella.

Your mum is a woman.

Goodbye, then.

MountainDweller · 27/11/2019 23:38

Bravissimo caters for women with small backs and larger breasts. This would only be achieved through large implants for males, due to their broader backs and chests.

They'd not only need large implants but also a rib cage reduction.... sounds painful Shock

I'm actually not a customer because my back size is too big, though my cup size is well into their range. However I won't be a customer in the future if I lose weight and I won't be recommending them.

It's an interesting point though - I imagine most transwomen would not be catered for by bravissimo. The only transwoman I know was a six foot fully grown/developed male and they are a 16-18 in women's clothes. I'd be very surprised if their 'boobs' would fit a Bravissimo bra.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/11/2019 23:43

so basically you just want trans women to stay indoors and never leave their homes?

"Outside the home" now consists entirely of Bravissimo stores? I mean, it would make bra shopping very convenient to me, but where are we meant to buy food?

Itsallgonetoofar · 28/11/2019 00:32

I'm not addressing the silly bad faith comments like

so basically you just want trans women to stay indoors and never leave their homes? as that is so obviously not what I am saying.

I think they border on attempting to derail the thread...

I don't use Bravissimo myself because I have no need, so I didn't realise it only catered for slim women with big breasts. That seems to make it even more likely to be targeted by fetishists and creepy men. Where do bigger women go when they need a large cup size? Are we back to having to go to M&S, with their mixed sex changing rooms?

Lweji · 28/11/2019 08:02

I didn't realise it only catered for slim women with big breasts

Because they don't.

They cater for all sizes, although those of us with smaller back sizes have fewer options.

But I'll ask again. Have there been any instances already?
Anyone with a bad experience?

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 28/11/2019 08:02

I imagine most transwomen would not be catered for by bravissimo.

Unless they wear prosthetic breasts. Which some do. Or those chicken filet things.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 28/11/2019 08:03

If nothing bad has happened yet then that means it definitely won't! Logic!

KristinaM · 28/11/2019 08:39

But I'll ask again. Have there been any instances already?

You are so right ! My kids youth club has all these child protection policies and procedures in place which is so stupid when they have never employed any abusers and there have been ZERO conviction against staff and volunteers.

Same at our work, we have to wear all this PPE and do risk assessments but no one has ever been injured, let alone killed. It’s just nonsense, it inconveniences us all and costs the company money.

Health and safety is a hysterical overreaction, I think we should just wait until bad things happen to someone and then we can act. Unless it was their own fault of course.

We can explain to them ( or their bereaved family ) that they were just collateral damage in service of the greater good, I’m sure they will understand.

FearaNohope · 28/11/2019 09:32

There are reasons we can’t open a space like bra fitting rooms up to anyone claiming womanhood. This for example. If McDonald’s get him excited to wank, I can only imagine what they’d do in a room full of women discussing large breasts 🤢

Call to action for Bravissimo customers
Lweji · 28/11/2019 10:00

As I posted earlier I'm not asking (again) if anything happened.
Only if anyone has ever seen any men in Bravissimo's changing rooms ever.
I'd have expected all the weirdos to have flooded them by now.
But either Bravissimo is not on their radar or Bravissimo effectively has safeguards in place, even if are not official.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 10:04

So, until there's a thread with OMG there was a man in the next cubicle at Bravissimo, I'd think it's a bit premature to boycott them.

FearaNohope · 28/11/2019 11:52

I don’t think everyone thinks it’ll suddenly be full of weird men. Removing the female only rule means it can happen. It only takes one AGP or offender, in one shop, one time to ruin a womans day or life. Personally I’ll reduce my own risk by avoiding anywhere I feel vulnerable and don’t find satisfactory safeguards. It’s not a boycott for me. It’s me feeling safe where I’m getting undressed 🤷‍♀️

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 28/11/2019 11:56

It does feel abit like worrying about something that can possibly happen and ignoring the stuff that does and is. I haven't seen FWR instigate a boycott of air bnb or hotels, but you are demonstrably already at risk, and a far greater risk, in these place.

Sometimes the bogey man in our imagination makes for a comfortable distraction than the monster we are already in bed with

quickkimchi · 28/11/2019 12:25

Op are you asking for a boycott or just stating your boundaries and inviting others to do the same? It's so odd to me that some people go from zero to 'omg shut up you want to BAN everything!!1!' in an instant. As far as I can see you want other women here to know about this and you want Bravissimo to know it makes you, an established customer, uncomfortable. That seems reasonable.

Also we do already know that mixed changing rooms are a bad idea.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 14:10

It’s me feeling safe where I’m getting undressed

For sure. I just haven't seen any actual reason not to feel safe or comfortable in Bravissimo changing rooms, other than a less than satisfactory response to the OP by customer services (whoever that was).
I'm pretty sure my day can be ruined anywhere and any time, including by women. That concern doesn't prevent me from leaving my home, or going to any shop.
Has anyone asked if Bravissimo has lesbians working there? Hmm

Joisanofthedales · 28/11/2019 14:42

Wow. Homophobic much!!!

Ereshkigal · 28/11/2019 14:48

Has anyone asked if Bravissimo has lesbians working there?

Why would they?

KristinaM · 28/11/2019 14:53

I have no interest in the sexuality, sexual orientation or gender of anyone who measures and advises me on the fit of bras in a shop. I only care about their sex. And that they are good at their job of course.

Lweji · 28/11/2019 15:49

I have no interest in the sexuality, sexual orientation or gender of anyone who measures and advises me on the fit of bras in a shop. I only care about their sex.

Because all men trying out bras are out to get you?
Because no woman ever is going to make you feel uncomfortable while trying for bras?

Lweji · 28/11/2019 15:50

Wow. Homophobic much!!!

Way to miss the point there.
