Call to action for Bravissimo customers

So any woman with large boobs quickly learn she a subset of men are obsessed and fetishise large breasts. Any woman without personal experience can confirm this by a quick look at a porn site.

So Bravissimo is loved by many of us. Up until now it's largely been a male free zone staffed by helpful women who are almost always with plenty of norkage themselves so they understand their customers challenges. Joanni Walshe's article in the Sun shows that is changing as they are saying they will welcome transgender customers.

I contacted customer services online to check, got a message that it's no time al all the case and if I left my phone number someone would ring me! Somewhat to my surprise they did, nice young woman spent 30mins telling me in shocked terms that of course they would never let a man in Bravissimo changing rooms but also explained that if someone's was 'on a journey to being a woman' they'd would be welcome. There was much talk of the 'woman on a journey' and of course they would never do anything that would lead to anyone being uncomfortable but that's even though I would be uncomfortable I was to be nice and kind to this person on a journey. Hmm

Several things struck me,

  • they've clearly were concerned about the numbers of customers getting in touch
  • the person I spoke to was very ignorant about transwomen, trans activism and woefully naive
  • they have give no thought to the dangers of hidden cameras being placed in their changing rooms and if we think about those men with a large boob fetish I think that is a real danger Envy not envy

For which the sole requirement is to be biologically male. Women can't be transwomen. TRAs say we aren't allowed.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 27/11/2019 16:22

Yep, that there is a male who now identifies as a transwoman and they should be proud of that fact if they took such a difficult path to get there.

Not be hiding it under cover of something they're not and never will be, because that's just belittling their own lived experience.

Musmerian · 27/11/2019 16:24

Rigby and Peller is way better anyway.

Pepvixen · 27/11/2019 16:26

Rigby and peller also allow anyone to use their changerooms regardless of gender identity.

JellyfishAndShells · 27/11/2019 16:40

Now I think this is pushing things too far. You can search me: I have been in this board for a long time. But I am not trying to make life impossible for trans women. They need to buy bras and they should be allowed to do so

Online. They can buy them online and try them on to their hearts content. No one is stopping them buying them.

Lweji · 27/11/2019 16:41

because to get the required D cup on a male chest, those are going to be implants. And implants so big that no respectable surgeon is actually going to do them.

Do you have any idea what a D cup looks like? It's not that big.

www.bigcuplittlecup.net/think-know-d-cup-looks-like/

FYI, I wear 28-F /30-EE and even recently I was mentioned as having small boobs. Grin

JellySlice · 27/11/2019 17:02

The cup size is not an absolute. My E and F cups will be much bigger than yours, because my back size is bigger than yours.

The volume of a D cup on a 40" back will be smaller than your F cup.

Melroses · 27/11/2019 17:20

30F will be similar to 40A, volumewise.

KristinaM · 27/11/2019 17:21

I don’t have any problems with trans men using Facilities for biological women. Because they are biological women.

That’s why we segregate some facilities by sex and not gender. If we did it by gender then I’d have no place to use, because I am don’t have a gender. I know some genderists say I was allocated one at birth but I’ve check my BC and I wasn’t.

Pepvixen · 27/11/2019 17:24

Bravissimo caters for women with small backs and larger breasts. This would only be achieved through large implants for males, due to their broader backs and chests.

Fieldofgreycorn · 27/11/2019 17:33

Why does that justify access for people who do not have boobs?

A TW’s boobs are boobs. I expect the law would view a male exposing his breasts in public very differently to a trans woman exposing her breasts in public. Particularly if surgically enhanced.

Fieldofgreycorn · 27/11/2019 17:36

So the men getting them are going to be AGP, and committed AGP at that.

I don’t agree with your assumptions there. Some HSTS go very large in the boobage department
They like to attract men don’t they,

JellySlice · 27/11/2019 17:49

A TW’s boobs are boobs. I expect the law would view a male exposing his breasts in public very differently to a trans woman exposing her breasts in public.

This makes no sense. What is the difference between a male's breasts and a transwoman's breasts?

Fieldofgreycorn · 27/11/2019 18:04

This conversation is absurd.

myfavouriterain · 27/11/2019 18:19

I am a GG cup and have shopped there for 25 years. But I won't.

it's an entirely different kettle of fish when the female Bravissimo staff member is on her own in a cubicle with an AGP male asking her to assess how some lacy number fits him. I really don't think shops have thought this through. They're putting their staff in an unacceptable position.

^ this

myfavouriterain · 27/11/2019 18:20

they are biological women. nope. Back to biology class for you.

MsRomanoff · 27/11/2019 18:22

Because they are biological women.

You need to really understand the words you are using.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 27/11/2019 18:49

KristinaM meant that trans men are biological women, which is true. I think if you read the rest of her comment it is plainly obvious that is what she was saying.

KristinaM · 27/11/2019 18:51

Which words don’t I understand ?

Ereshkigal · 27/11/2019 18:55

Why did I get deleted? MTF trans people are male, and therefore have no place in female spaces. I didn't "misgender". They literally are biologically male.

bd67th · 27/11/2019 19:19

there's underwear providers specifically for transwomen.

They'll need it. One of the clues that a transwoman is wearing prosthetic breasts is that they are often placed too high on the rib cage.(1) I suspect that this is partly because the bra straps aren't long enough to allow the breasts to be worn at a more natural-looking height. Just as the male skirts worn by punks and goths in the early noughties were tailored to fit the male body, so bras for transwomen should be tailored to fit male bodies. They'd fit better and be more comfortable and the shops selling them could have specially-trained staff and a chaperone system.

That thing I keep saying where we can do stuff better by acknowledging differences and accommodating them, instead of pretending we're all the same.

(1) Board monitors should note that this is an observation, not a judgement, and my suggestions would help.

Itsallgonetoofar · 27/11/2019 19:19

Those of you lucky ladies/trans activists on this thread that have never experienced unwanted ogling of your large boobs by transwomen identifying as lesbian and and have not experienced aggressive behaviour from tw can go comment elsewhere.

I'm not worrying about something that may never happen, I'm worrying that behaviour I have already encountered will happen when I'm half naked and vulnerable in a place that up to now I'd felt safe.

02Odyy
I emailed Bravissimo to explain why I would not be shopping there any more and I received a response saying they wanted to call me to talk it through and reassure me. I don't know why they cannot do this via email. Has anybody else received a similar response?

I have as another poster too. See upthread

Daughterofmabel · 27/11/2019 20:00

Oops bold fail. I got the impression they want to talk instead of email so they can try and browbeat you. The CS woman I chatted with was very emphatic about tw being directed to seperate area - but polite too.

Pepvixen · 27/11/2019 20:03

Tbf, if they are directing tw to another area but don't want this in writing so as to avoid a tra pile on, I don't have much problem with that.
