Another day another riveting court case to watch.

Best of luck to all involved.

popehilarious · 20/11/2019 08:50

Ooh...Fair Cop say they hope to live tweet. Will be watching with interest.

Melroses · 20/11/2019 08:51

Has he been on the radio yet? Said 8.40.

They are leaving it late Hmm

BarbaraStrozzi · 20/11/2019 08:51

Oh wow. Good luck, Harry. This is one of the most important cases I can think of - making sure that unsubstantiated allegations don't remain on people's records forever.

Hoping someone will be there in the public gallery to take notes.

LangCleg · 20/11/2019 08:52

All the best, Harry et al. Rooting for you with everything I've got.

Good luck, Harry et al.

Not getting any work done this week, then.

Justin was good. Other guy saying hate incidents need to be taken seriously as can be precursor to hate crime.
Justin, says quickly, winding up, “but not in this case”.
Good interview. Argument put out there really well re enhanced dbs check. The other guy (Nasrin?) conceded that if something like this does go on the dbs then “needs to be dealt with”.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/11/2019 09:03

Good luck, Harry!

NellieEllie · 20/11/2019 09:07

Nazir put “hate incIdent” in the context of Stephen Lawrence and the police not recording any incidents. Incidents seen as precursor to crime. Harry making very clear that people free to express views up to the point where it becomes a crime. Police, in recording this on the dbs as an “offence” which is labelled “trans hate” acting as a quango, as though they ARE the law.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 20/11/2019 09:08

Another very important case.

Good luck Harry.

IWantADifferentName · 20/11/2019 09:13

Good luck, Harry. I hope someone will be able to live tweet this for those of us who support you but can’t be there in person.

nauticant · 20/11/2019 09:25

Good luck today Harry.

Heard you on the Today programme and thought you did very well in the very short segment. Rather than throwing in loads of stuff you focused on hate incidents being non-crimes that can have long term effects of the accused, without there being any due process.

It was probably missed by many but Nazir Afzal, the expert, was uninformed about what he was supposed to be commenting on. I was particularly unimpressed that about the only thing he had to say was "because Stephen Lawrence, recording hate incidents is great".

Redshoeblueshoe · 20/11/2019 09:26

Good luck.

MockersFactCheckMN · 20/11/2019 09:27

A 'Hate Incident' is a complaint, with no requirements for any evidence. "He looked at me in a funny way because I am a minority..."

It is another manifestation of the misbegotten post-Scarman policy of 'victims must be believed.'

PhonicTheHedgehog · 20/11/2019 09:46

Today Programme at around 2:52:00

Datun · 20/11/2019 09:50

Good luck Harry. It cannot be right that a hate incident, or wrongthink, is noted on your record and can be revealed in an enhanced DBS check, with absolutely zero evidence.

Anyone with an axe to grind will simply report you as having committed one. Or three. Or get their mates to report.

It's nonsensical and utterly abusive.

Siameasy · 20/11/2019 09:57

Yes it’s a good point that there’s no outcome for the accused with hate incidents. Hate crime you could be absolved or not but these incidents it makes you look guilty immediately. Is there even an investigation?

I see the point in gathering intelligence but but there needs to be clear direction around the conflict with the HRAct

theflushedzebra · 20/11/2019 10:06

Go Harry!

If anyone knows if/where this is being live-tweeted, please put a link up thanks Thanks
