I love this woman. Constantly campaigning, body positive intersectional feminist.

“When one critic claimed trans women “are erasing women’s rights” and told Jamil to “sit down”, the body-positivity campaigner replied: “Why don’t you sit down? I am a full time feminist activist. I am also a trans advocate, and I in no way see trans women as ANY threat to our fight.
“To include them is true feminism. The propaganda against them makes them appear to be interrupting our cause, but it’s nonsense.”

If only more people were like her 🧡

That’s nice, dear.

MrsSpenserGregson · 30/10/2019 08:06

I totally disagree, and I unfollowed her on social media because of her belief that TW are women. They are not.

JacquesHammer · 30/10/2019 08:07

Crikey the meaning of iconic has changed.

She believes incorrectly transwomen are women. They’re not. That’s not iconic feminism.

EverardDigby · 30/10/2019 08:08

Women no longer have the right to receive support for trauma in a female-only setting; male bodies set off a trauma-conditioned fear reaction in many of the women I've worked with. Could you explain please how that is not erasing their rights to get treatment in safety?

greenapplesred12 · 30/10/2019 08:09

she's no supporter of women if she can't see why women need their own spaces away from men. And however much she repeats it, trans women are male bodied humans and always will be.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 30/10/2019 08:09

I misread the title as "ironic".

MrsSpenserGregson · 30/10/2019 08:10

OP - you're Jameela Jamil aren't you?

I thought the title was ironic not iconic...
She's great on many issues, but I don't agree with her on all.
No one owns the definition of Feminism.

Thirtyrock39 · 30/10/2019 08:14

I used to really like her particularly her stance on body image but she's become a bit ridiculous on Twitter and I've unfollowed her. She gets herself in twitter spats often coming off worse against piers Morgan etc by always trying to be 'right on' there are a lot of spoof 'woke' twitter accounts now which I think are influenced by Jamella's ramblings - she said something daft about not knowing who George bush was recently.

HandsOffMyRights · 30/10/2019 08:15

I stopped following her after she demonised those of us who were deeply concerned about the NSPCC and child protection/safeguarding issues re adults asking children to contact them in secret.

This was the tweet:

I misread the title as "ironic".

Me too!

I have no time for Jameela Jamil these days. Rather than listening to the concerns women have on this issue, she throws the word TERF at them and sticks her fingers in her ears so that she can remain woke.

Bye love....

OneTerrificMouse · 30/10/2019 08:18

Who even is she?

What has she done to be so 'iconic'?

Penguincity · 30/10/2019 08:18

I also clicked as thought this would be ironic. I don't believe what she believes however I am grateful to her in a way as some of her postings are so bad they get retweeted widely so others can see the nonscence she spouts

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 30/10/2019 08:19

“When one critic claimed trans women “are erasing women’s rights” and told Jamil to “sit down”, the body-positivity campaigner replied: “Why don’t you sit down? I am a full time feminist activist. I am also a trans advocate, and I in no way see trans women as ANY threat to our fight.

See, this quote is interesting and typical of Jameela and her ilk (Body Posi Panda is another) - she has said nothing of substance there. Hasn't put across any arguments as to why transwomen in female spaces isn't a problem, hasn't explain why it's 'true feminism' to centre males, hasn't explained what she means by propaganda, has just said some words that she somehow expects everyone to agree with.

ShiveringCoyote · 30/10/2019 08:25

If she believes that trans women truly are women does she in turn support Yaniv? Karen White? These people are a real threat to women and girls, they are the opposite of feminism. There is nothing iconic about sticking your head into the sand.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 30/10/2019 08:26

I used to like her and believe she is genuinely passionate but I am utterly sick of seeing people sharing outright lies and fabrications about the LGB and gender critical movements.
For example, the LGB Alliance isn't 'relentlessly tweeting' about violent trans people as she claims in the screenshot attached.
It's one thing to unthinkingly share something you thought was true, something else to make this kind of claim without even doing a basic fact check.
I have lost all respect for her.

What a shining example of 'feminism'.

GlitchStitch · 30/10/2019 08:29

I think she's iconic too, she is single-handedly peaking loads of people over this nonsense. Half of her followers only seem to do so in order to take the piss, another woke lefty who has no idea how much she alienates ordinary people. In the same vein as Democrat candidates fawning over trans kids. These idiots are the reason Trump will be re elected and they have nobody to blame but themselves.

GlitchStitch · 30/10/2019 08:31

I also thought her managing to upset a fabulous cervical cancer charity and many female cancer sufferers last week by referring to Piers Morgan as HPV was just inspiring. Soo feminist, so iconic!!

I don't follow her anymore. She's so determined to be woke that she's lost the ability to look at things with any objectivity at all. All the grovelly, apologetic, psycophantic posts get on my tits too.

Whatthingsexactly · 30/10/2019 08:35

Ironically, the juxtaposition of posts here demonstrates the exact behaviour pattern JJ is calling out.

Wow, just looked up her HPV comment on Twitter Shock

And then rather than delete it and go on about how she is 'always learning and will strive to do better' (as per her pinned tweet) she doubled down on it and said 'it's just a virus. Even after Jo's Trust commented.

Wow...

misspiggy19 · 30/10/2019 08:42

Iconic? No one knows who this loser is
