I see that you too are missing the point about 'violent transwomen'. The point about violent transwomen is that they are not women, they are men. Which is why they never should have been in women's spaces or trying to access women's services in the first place. Which is why, hell yes, they absolutely should be flagged up.

It's not that women don't want transwomen in their spaces because they are trans, it's because they are male.

I started off liking her body positive stance. Then I saw the TWAW stuff and thought she was possibly sweet but just a bit dim.

I can't understand how you can reconcile being "body positive" while also supporting people who hate their bodies so much they wear binders, make themselves reliant on hormone therapies for life or voluntarily cut healthy functioning parts of it off.

Privileged. She is never going to in a homeless shelter, sharing a room with someone who glories in displaying morning wood. She is never going to be on an NHS ward, being flashed at by the someone in the bed opposite her. She is never going to be sharing shower facilities in a women's prison with a predatory male who has identified as female to access women.

It's easy to be lady bountiful when none of this stuff affects your life.

But unfortunately not always very well informed, as she has admitted.

The LGB alliance does not believe that trans people are more likely to commit violent crimes. They believe that men are more likely to commit violent crimes and that the systems that gave Karen White access to women in prison and allowed Yaniv to take women to court put women in danger.

Jamil's lumping together of all trans people in her tweet also rather implies that she has forgotten that trans men exist.

I just don’t understand this comment. It is provably false.

One very obvious example is sport, but there are plenty of others.

It is not unusual for rights to conflict, and normally a sensible discussion about how to balance them can take place. But with people like Jameela who inexplicably fail to see the conflict and attack anyone who does, constructive dialogue isn’t possible.

Or the women that Rachel McKinnon is beating after they transition at nearly 30 years of age, or the 16 women that Jessica Yanniv dragged through the courts and whose businesses are ruined, or all the girls failing to get scholarships in the US, because of Andrea Yearwood, or the women who are being 'folded like deckchairs' and coaches having their legs broken by transwomen in sport, or Tamikka Brent whose orbital bone was broken by a transwoman in boxing, or the women in the Labour Party who were targeted by the transwoman Labour Party women's officer.

I'm not going to call her 'thick' or 'an idiot' or whatever, I just totally disagree with her on this and some other issues.

Given that it something that she feels so strongly about, I wonder if she has, or ever would come on here and engage in the debate, given that this is pretty much the largest platform in the UK for discussing it? Actually listening to people's concerns, and then explaining fully why those concerns are unfounded, engaging in debate about a certain issue, is part of the job of an 'activist' isn't it?

I'm assuming this thread was started with the sole intention of bringing it to her attention and getting her to denounce MN It's so predictable.
If I'm right then perhaps she'd like to know that:
the LGBAlliance was started by some of the founders of Stonewall. those members may be considered to know more about the tensions and pressures in the LGB community than the people deriding them.
*here are numerous 'T' only support groups and organisations who happily exist without being forced to include the LGB.

• of all the founders of the LGBAlliance, the one being threatened with loss of livelihood is a black lesbian . . . not any of the white males. Perhaps as a WOC in the public eye, Jameela may have a view on why the high-profile WOC is being targeted rather than the white men? Misogyny? Racism? Jameela has admitted in the past she's been ill-informed about issues and changed her mind. Maybe she will do the same in this case.
