I love this woman. Constantly campaigning, body positive intersectional feminist.

“When one critic claimed trans women “are erasing women’s rights” and told Jamil to “sit down”, the body-positivity campaigner replied: “Why don’t you sit down? I am a full time feminist activist. I am also a trans advocate, and I in no way see trans women as ANY threat to our fight.
“To include them is true feminism. The propaganda against them makes them appear to be interrupting our cause, but it’s nonsense.”

If only more people were like her 🧡

Instead of meaningless word salad, how about she actually addresses the problem.

Exactly. The two fundamental questions for me are:

  1. why do we segregate by sex in the first place in certain circumstances?

  2. at what objective, concrete, irrefutable point does a male who 'identifies as female' come out of the high risk class of 'male' and into the low risk class of 'female'?

Ereshkigal · 30/10/2019 09:34

of all the founders of the LGBAlliance, the one being threatened with loss of livelihood is a black lesbian . . . not any of the white males. Perhaps as a WOC in the public eye, Jameela may have a view on why the high-profile WOC is being targeted rather than the white men? Misogyny? Racism?

This.

Datun · 30/10/2019 09:35

"This is the woman who slags off Kim K for wearing make up but thinks pornified Bergdof is a dazzling example of humanity."

Yes, good point, the double standards are pretty breathtaking! It's just plain old misogyny isn't it?

It really is. And it happens a lot.

Women who will slag off other women for conforming to patriarchal standards will, simultaneously, approve of men doing exactly the same.

Every single microscopic step of this ideology reveals how its proponents never, ever think that transwomen are women.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 30/10/2019 09:38

I'm assuming this thread was started with the sole intention of bringing it to her attention and getting her to denounce MN It's so predictable.

Yes, that's what I thought too.

Jameela has admitted in the past she's been ill-informed about issues and changed her mind. Maybe she will do the same in this case.

I think a lot of women and children would have to suffer first for that to happen. I mean, she appears to have zero sympathy for the victims of Karen White or Yaniv, doesn't appear to see anything wrong with Maria Maclachlan having to refer to her male attacker as 'she' in court, and clearly doesn't give a shit about the women who are losing out to males in sports. 'It's not an epidemic' so those women are just collateral for men to be able to do the things they want apparently.

Siameasy · 30/10/2019 09:38

She’s typical of that ilk. Hugely privileged. Tells others what to think. Just like those white women on the Instagram knitting pages lecturing other white women about racism. Supports body positive but she’s thin and pretty🤷‍♀️. Doesn’t appear to have much life experience. Enjoys winning cookies for lecturing other people. “You are cancelled”

Nailed it.

This, so much this.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 30/10/2019 09:47

Ironically, the juxtaposition of posts here demonstrates the exact behaviour pattern JJ is calling out.
That second post in that shot is mine and I genuinely dont get what you're talking about.
The LGB Alliance is a specific group being run by specific people.
Are you claiming that they are responsible for what other people on the internet say? The LGB Alliance has made no claims about violent trans people, and claiming otherwise is a fabrication.
Or is it that somehow someone else entirely talking about Yaniv or White is somehow problematic? Under what circumstances do you think women are allowed to call out real life rapists and predators taking advantage of self-id?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 30/10/2019 09:51

Hi, OP. You seem quite new to Mumsnet. What brings you here?

corpsebrid3 · 30/10/2019 09:53

I don't think she's much of a supporter to Muslim women who will need single sex spaces to expand their horizons in patriarchal societies.

She's shown me that she can't comprehend other people's realities and that without the ability for women to be with women, the men in their life will curtail their freedoms. Daughters will not go to universities, wives will be kept at home and the ability to socialise in public places will change and go back to meeting in each other's homes.

Women only leisure, social, sport, health facilities are incredibly important for the girls in conservatively religious families to have options about their future.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 30/10/2019 09:55

Never heard of her. And I don't appear to have missed anything.

calllaaalllaaammma · 30/10/2019 09:57

Of course, she knows very well that there is a conflict of rights between women and transwomen.
It's not a new issue and there are so many examples now.

She’s an idiot who didn’t even know who George Bush Jr was and what happened in the world only 17/18 years ago. No excuse for not knowing about 9/11, the Iraq war and everything after, seeing as it’s shaped the world we’re in today. Such an idiot, and her defence was that she was a child when it all happened. Hmm. She’s not that young; even my 12 year old knows the basics.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 30/10/2019 10:04

Another one who thinks there’s been a typo- ironic not iclonic 😀
Poor Jamelia, she probably also believes; transplants are plants, transparent is a parent etc and top of the list - women don’t need sex based rights. Oh well, each to their own.

quickentheprocess · 30/10/2019 10:12

if "iconic" if what the kids nowadays say when they mean "utter bellend" then yeah, shes pretty iconic

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 30/10/2019 10:14

Surely to be iconic you have to be someone people have heard of?

There are very few feminists who could be described as iconic. Germaine Greer springs to mind but there aren't many.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/10/2019 10:19

I am a full time feminist activist.

Silly me, I was under the impression that she had an actual job for which she got paid.

RoyalCorgi · 30/10/2019 10:21

What does "interrupting our cause" mean? Is this some new meaning of the word "interrupt" that no one's told me about?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/10/2019 10:23

"Interrupt" and "iconic" both seem to have had the Alanis Morissette what do words mean "ironic" overhaul.

QuantumEntanglement · 30/10/2019 10:47

Meh, had to google, found she’s about to present some comedy quiz show here (USA). Meh, just another woke celeb who thinks mouthing a few snappy soundbites makes her an activist and absolves her of the need to think. Much of celeb activism is like the ideologies they espouse: skin deep, scratch the surface and all you get is more surface.

wigglybluelines · 30/10/2019 10:55

Yes, and selling t-shirts saying Marx makes her a Marxist, obvs. Hmm

Datun · 30/10/2019 10:59

scratch the surface and all you get is more surface.

Brilliant. And also, is making me itch.

GrumpyHoonMain · 30/10/2019 10:59

We will get to a stage pretty soon where companies will prefer to hire trans women rather than born women (or pre-op trans men) to fulfil gender quotas because they are sterile and so can’t take up expensive maternity leave etc.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 30/10/2019 11:03

That's not her with the Marx t-shirt, I'm pretty sure it's Ash Sarkar (she wore it on Newsnight or similar this week).

Ash is cut from similar cloth though - she is the one who 'proved' that Julie Bindel did not care about women in prison by typing certain words into twitter. Yep, that's the Julie Bindel who set up Justice for Women the year before Ash was even born! 😂
