Any more information out there on this?

OP posts:

Specialist kit for making lettuce soup. (Which probably shouldn't be a thing, but is)

That just sounds wrong.

I’ve read quite a few comments by people noting the similarity between how the TRAs are currently behaving and how an abuser behaves when his victim finally gets out.

Thanks for the reminder Q I'll be rejoining Twatter briefly so I can vote.

TruthOnTrial · 25/10/2019 19:38

Is that twatter poll link still working?

Italiangreyhound · 25/10/2019 23:03

Very, very interesting poll.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2019 23:19

There seems to be another poll further down the thread.

TruthOnTrial · 25/10/2019 23:34

Reading it seems to say they cut it short accidentally, so maybe they've rectified it by setting up another?

Will go see. Awful comments on there.

KatyCarrCan · 25/10/2019 23:37

It's interesting they extended the poll and called in the usual TRAs. Last night, the poll result was completely different and the poll organiser was asking anyone who supported the new group to justify why they supported it.
He obviously wasn't getting the result he expected so he's kept it open longer and called in reinforcements.
At some point, they'll realise Twitter isn't actually RL and whilst they can alter polls, change dates, get groups shadow banned and remove sex as a protected characteristic - it still doesn't change reality.

holdmybutterbeer · 26/10/2019 07:34

Stonewall just wants to protect its future revenue

The narrative is anyone who believes themselves to be a woman, is a woman. And the same with men. If this is truly believed then surely calling someone trans is transphobic?

Thanks for the link to the article; it is powerful stuff.

I heard Allison Bailey speak last night. I simply have no idea how anyone could meet her or hear her speak and not find her impressive and interesting. For me she was also inspiring and really positive, which is badly needed as I contemplate friends' daughters who are a whisker away from permanent medicalisation due to regulatory capture of the NHS. I also wouldn't like to be the Garden Court Chambers clerk having to take her to task on, erm, helping to found a campaigning organisation to liberate gay people, just like she's done all her life?

HandsOffMyRights · 26/10/2019 09:05

Thanks for the article.

This group is certainly rattling cages. Always ask "why?"

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 26/10/2019 09:17

Let me think, just why could a group for homosexual people set up by, amongst others, Stonewall founder Simon Fanshawe, in opposition Stonewall's current homophobic policies been seen as a threat?

Could it be because it is impossible to suggest that Stonewall founder Simon Fanshawe doesn't understand what Stonewall was set up for in the first place? That it is impossible to hide behind LGB people when those same LGB people are saying ';you do NOT represent us, your issues are NOT our issues'?

Well that and the potential loss of revenue.

ChattyLion · 26/10/2019 09:25

I’m so relieved that an alternative charity will actually be set up. LGB alliance founder Kate Harris’ quote speaks the truth.

“There is nothing that homosexuals have in common with transgender people,” Ms Harris said. “We are LGB because of a sexual attraction, we want the world to change to be accommodating of us. Trans people want to change to fit into what we believe is an old-fashioned set of values.”

Yes, because its nonsensical and offensive for men to call themselves lesbians, to put pressure on actual adult human female lesbians to have sex with them, to campaign around the Cotton Ceiling, to take over spaces and places set up to support younger lesbians and all of that other appropriative shit they are doing. Well documented on this board.

In the meantime, the petition for Stonewall to (even just) acknowledge that there is a clash of rights is still open for anyone to sign:

www.ipetitions.com/petition/dear-stonewall-please-reconsider-your-approach

Multiple threads on FWR referring to the issues in this petition but just one example:

Pimmsnlemonade · 26/10/2019 10:37

The crowdfunder has been removed:

twitter.com/AllianceLGB/status/1188024607779020800

The TRAs really can't stand gay people standing up for our rights, can they? Especially lesbians and gay men who have 30+ years of well-documented history of campaigning for gay rights.

Even the TRAs realise they'll struggle to sell the notion that these are right-wing, transphobic Evangelical Christians pretending (for decades) to be gay people and creating LGB organisations to achieve rights that the Evangelical Christians would thoroughly oppose, just so that maybe one day decades later it might come in handy for them. Hmm

Hopefully Just Giving will see sense but wherever the LGB Alliance use to raise money again the TRAs have inspired me to put in some extra cash. Grin

HumberHellraiser · 26/10/2019 10:47

Notice on Twitter says

We've just been told by JustGiving that our crowdfunding page has been temporarily cancelled while they look into "complaints about the nature of [our] fundraising". They assure us that the funds are safe and the page can be reactivated "if deemed appropriate". Watch this space

Complaints!

Anybody who wondered whether TRA ideology was homophobic, well the evidence is right there.

HandsOffMyRights · 26/10/2019 10:49

You're right, Pimms. That narrative has suited TRAs well. They now add 'Mumsnet' in with the right wing, Christian evangelicalists blah, blah, blah.

The actions of forcing down this crowdfunder smack of desperation.

Hopefully, given the credentials of those who have set up the new alliance, this will soon be reinstated, with even more donations flooding in.

HandsOffMyRights · 26/10/2019 10:52

In fact I'll donate some more now, given the blatant homophobia at play.

TruthOnTrial · 26/10/2019 11:06

They really are on the run aren't they!

Who could complain about fund-raising for gay rights. Confused. I simply can't imagine Hmm

Yes, rather makes one more desperate to throws funds their way as a persecuted minority now. What else can it be called when you are pursued doggedly, with threats and trying to deny your voice, means to support yourself, etc.

Sounds like the pp mentioned, abuser tactics, sounds very like, looks like.

Backinthecloset123 · 26/10/2019 11:07

Why the fark was Debbie Hayton at the meeting? Confused
