Any more information out there on this?

OP posts:
EmpressLesbianInChair · 24/10/2019 09:19

An organisation fighting to free gays and lesbians from the tyranny of trans rIghts? I can’t see it catching on.

No. You wouldn't.

I was at the meeting the other night and I'm hopeful. I was especially impressed by the two women who are organising it all - Bev Jackson, one of the founders of the Gay Liberation Front, and second wave feminist Kate Harris, who was one of Stonewall's major fundraisers.

Miranda, by the way, was presenting as a gay man. And while he & Simon Fanshaw both spoke, it was Bev & Kate who led the meeting.

Thought I'd share another gem that could only appear on Twitter:

LangCleg · 24/10/2019 09:51

It is at the 'leaving an abusive relationship' stage.

Precisely this. And they can't stop themselves showing it.

2BthatUnnoticed · 24/10/2019 09:54

What on earth is that screenshot!? Shock

They really, really don’t get it do they. But what does LGBA have to do with MN Confused

2BthatUnnoticed · 24/10/2019 09:57

By they way. There are groups specifically for adoptive mums, which I (a gave-birther) are not in. And that is 100% okay. This obsession with everyone being included in every group - or hate speech!! - is ridiculous.

NonnyMouse1337 · 24/10/2019 10:01

I'm pretty sure a group that formed to deal with the unique challenges and experiences of women who are pregnant and have gone through childbirth won't attract the ire of women who have never experienced it. That's the difference between Trans Privilege Activists and the rest of society. We don't feel excluded and scream an organisation is a hate group simply for deciding to focus on a specific demographic.

The TPAs would be the equivalent of adoptive mothers barging into a group for biological mothers and yelling how excluded and oppressed they are because some women felt the need to have a group that caters for a specific need i.e. pregnancy and childbirth.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/10/2019 10:03

Re that screenshot, HandsOff, they can only monster Mumsnet by suggesting people 'imagine' we've done something terrible.

And conflating Mumsnet with the new Alliance is ... a bit odd, frankly.

Agree about the 'leaving the abusive relationship' note. Scary.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2019 10:08

Afaik adoptive parents don't have any problem understanding why the NCT exists and has classes specifically for pregnant women. I assume their postnatal events such as baby first aid are open to all who have the role of parent.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 24/10/2019 10:09

Win/win, surely!

You would have thought so.

Unfortunately there are people for whom it isn't good enough to have their own space, they must have everyone else's too.

Childish and selfish.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 24/10/2019 10:16

Just imagine if MN had sections dedicated to conception and pregnancy??!!?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 24/10/2019 10:16

I love the catsbum reply from Stonewall. Yet again, it's all about a technicality.

Paul Twocock, Stonewall’s interim chief executive, said: “These stories don’t refer to any current Stonewall staff or trustees.”

It's similar to
"I am legally a woman"

or
"she didn't actually say no out loud"

etc

OvaHere · 24/10/2019 10:21

Just seen on twitter that Simon Fanshawe is on LBC currently talking to Nick Ferrari about the LGB Alliance.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2019 10:27

Well, it's unfortunately an important 'technicality' - the stonewall organisation has been well and truly captured. The split off group - even if it turns out to represent the majority - will presumably have to start from scratch with no money, no official status, no buildings and staff. (Cf Labour Party capture by momentum, perhaps)

KatyCarrCan · 24/10/2019 10:29

I think all the negative publicity is great. It shows the TRAs are concerned about this.
I didn't realise Miranda was involved. That might muddy the messaging for people trying to understand the purpose of the group.

LangCleg · 24/10/2019 10:31

The TPAs would be the equivalent of adoptive mothers barging into a group for biological mothers and yelling how excluded and oppressed they are because some women felt the need to have a group that caters for a specific need i.e. pregnancy and childbirth.

Quite. Can you imagine a load of adoptive mothers storming such a group and forbidding mention of piles and episiotomies?

OvaHere · 24/10/2019 10:34

I think Miranda has pretty much socially detransed. He has reverted to male pronouns and I believe was attending the meeting in a gay male capacity. I would guess that continuing to go by the name Miranda is just brand awareness at this point (or maybe he's just fond of it!).

FreeBedForFlys · 24/10/2019 10:44

Paul Twocock - is that actually his name or is it like when people identify as two spirit etc?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 24/10/2019 11:05

I think Miranda has pretty much socially detransed. He has reverted to male pronouns and I believe was attending the meeting in a gay male capacity.

That was very much the impression I got from listening to him.

Findumdum1 · 24/10/2019 11:09

This is great news. I hope schools will covert from stonewall to LGB Alliance so gay kids can be supported. And kids with dysphoria and mental health issues or difficulty coming to terms with being gay or gender non comforming can also be helped and supported, instead of being drugged and sterilised and sent down irreversible medical paths that harm them.

I find it telling that at the secondary schools I am involved with none of the kids bat an eyelid or give a shit about kids coming out as gay. They roll their eyes at the trans/pan/fluid/born in the wrong body stuff though. Yiu can't kid a kid. They know being same sex attracted is real but that "born in the wrong body" is not.

Cookieflavoredbiscuit · 24/10/2019 11:15

Here's a one I saw in one of the outrage flurry threads...
Where do they get this stuff, I wonder?

UpfieldHatesWomen · 24/10/2019 11:16

Regarding that Twitter screenshot: I'm not a mum, yet I'm a member of Mumsnet. The reason why that is tolerated here is because I don't pretend I'm a mum, tell everyone I'm literally a mum because I feel like one, and demand everyone else capitulate to my feeling that I am a mum, or else claim it's literal violence and demand Mumsnet be closed down for excluding me. I don't comment on posts about PND and demand everyone centre me, because it's so much harder for me as a transmum to hear about the privilege other women have to feel PND, birth injuries etc etc etc.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 24/10/2019 11:21

I hope schools will covert from stonewall to LGB Alliance so gay kids can be supported.

"Capture" issues aside (even though it is a big hurdle), it doesn't seem like a hard choice:

LGB Alliance: unequivocally set up to represent a marginalised homosexual/bisexual community and clearly staffed with members from the groups it represents, plus notable transsexuals openly supporting it.

Stonewall: transgender and transgender with a bit of adult babies, AGP and "queer". Even their top champion legged it a while back (Hi Ruth!)

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 24/10/2019 11:26

A tweet saying "you don't get to chose who you support". I feel like this sums up the whole attitude.

It really does. I don't think they have any idea how bizarrely that reads to anyone not already indoctrinated into the cult.

HandsOffMyRights · 24/10/2019 11:26

They really, really don’t get it do they. But what does LGBA have to do with MN confused

The two are unrelated, but TRAs wish that by demonising MN users (mostly women), by inventing a smear campaign and associating the site with the derogatory, that they can whip up a witch hunt against our 'cabal' (or 'kabal' to quote one Twitter user today - I believe that is actually a video game character Grin ) to close the site and women down/bully advertisers.

Climate change? MN's fault
Brexit? MN's to blame
School funding cuts? MN

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2019 11:27

That tweet seems like a particularly baseless assertion. I get the impression there are considerable numbers of GC feminists who are bi or 'butch lesbians'. ConfusedHmm
