I've not seen this reported anywhere till today but good news.
The rubber fetish wanker who filmed himself in the NSPCC loo at work was dismissed on 12th August ,I hope he isn't employed by another charity.

Well done to the Mirror.

Hopefully Mr Makings will now find a job better suited to his free time interests and children’s charities will vet their employees and spokespeople better.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 13/10/2019 13:43

Good to see that this story is finally getting the publicity it deserves. A member of staff behaving in this way and initially being supported by staff and the charity, in full knowledge of his acts is very shocking. It calls into question the commitment to safeguarding children of some of their staff and managers.

StrawberryLetter32 · 13/10/2019 18:32

Jane Harris here. I emailed the NSPCC to ask for an update on whether he was still employed by them. The email reply confirmed that he'd been fired in August.

And even with that, there are tweets like this:

and the subsequent tweets.

In the mainstream media at last,Daily Mirror 12/10

Finally. Thank you!

nauticant

Thank you for that Twitter link, too. And this is where we are at. BDSM relies on the sexual fetishisation of power dynamics.

And people are wondering why a children's charity, who deal with vulnerable kids, might not be the most appropriate place for that!!!

It's like they're goading you, daring you to say you think it's perverted.

Well guess what, I do. That doesn't mean you can't get your rocks off to perversion. But it is perversion.

hipsterfun · 13/10/2019 22:37

If an employee is so far removed from his organisation's focus on boundaries and how the lack of them results in the abuse of children, that he wanks at work in his fetish gear then of course he should be sacked. And so should everyone else at the org who doesn't understand its bloody ethos.

Suspect that would result in substantial square footage of empty office space.

OrchidInTheSun · 13/10/2019 22:49

And where did Liz Tray work? At Skin 2, for 8 years. Does that ring a bell? Oh yes, it's where John Ozimek was published defending 'extreme' porn. Small world.

Datun · 13/10/2019 23:57

Small world.

Indeed. And she thinks it was 'unwise', as though it's a minor lapse in judgement, instead of a massive red flag.

And that all men wank at work ?????

MouthyHarpy · 14/10/2019 08:22

@StrawberryLetter32

Just fangirling a bit here. You are awesome on Twitter!

StrawberryLetter32 · 14/10/2019 09:57

High Five Thank you! I do my level best to be awesome. Ha ha!

StrawberryLetter32 · 14/10/2019 09:57

What's your Twitter name so I can follow you?

StrawberryLetter32 · 14/10/2019 09:58

@MouthyHarpy I forgot to tag you. Newbie!

StrawberryLetter32 · 14/10/2019 10:00

@OrchidInTheSun What is/was Skin 2 please. Liz Tray seems horrible.

nauticant · 14/10/2019 10:17

Here's a relatively OK link about Skin Two:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_Two

As you might imagine, this is a very bland description of the content of the magazine.

StrawberryLetter32 · 14/10/2019 10:19

Ah, okay. I read the first two lines. Nuff said.

RoyalCorgi · 14/10/2019 10:30

Hadley Freeman has retweeted Jane, which is good. Lots of people agreeing with Hadley, plus the usual one who claims that this was just a minor lapse on the NSPCC's part, nothing to see, move along...

MouthyHarpy · 14/10/2019 12:58

Hi @StrawberryLetter32 What's your Twitter name so I can follow you?

I think you already do - I tweet under my RL name as an academic (I got into trouble for that ...) Will DM when I finish doing the paperwork I'm doing today oh the life of the mind

SarahTancredi · 15/10/2019 13:44

To whoever has been busy on the twitter page.

Word of advice. Next time mention you are no longer donating. That gets a response Wink

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 15/10/2019 13:57

FWIW (and to nobody's surprise), that poster is being consistently deboosted. I have just run down the twitter page (not logged in) and every single time their comment has been hidden under the "show more replies".

Other comments not hidden like that.

SarahTancredi · 15/10/2019 13:58

The truth is such a dangerous thing isnt it...

OhHolyJesus · 12/06/2021 14:14

Boosting this old thread with this. I reserve my sympathies for the children exposed to those who don't understand safeguarding and have no wish to learn, but instead want to accuse those who do of bigotry and kink-shaming.

https://james-makings.com/2020/06/14/what-happened-last-summer/?fbclid=IwAR27jXe9hWSrZ-QCwBBSzuI4WsIFhWhmGsgCrisBGO0qYAgqkd2mdW_TU

I welcome kink shaming, I think there should be more of it.

Tibtom · 12/06/2021 14:17

I agree about kink shaming. And I suspect the shame is part of the appeal and they would just go further until they are shamed.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/06/2021 14:19

But isn’t this just bringing your whole / authentic self to work that people keep going on about? Trust me - my work doesn’t want my whole self coming in. They wouldn’t like it.

BettyFilous · 12/06/2021 14:23

That blog is endless. My takeaway from skimming it: if you don’t want people pointing out where to find videos of you online masturbating, maybe don’t post videos of you masturbating online. 🤷

ArabellaScott · 12/06/2021 14:29

Is this the one where the bloke who uploaded footage of himself wanking at work claims victimhood?

Yeah, I remember it.
