As part of this 'complex subject' a poster started a thread to highlight that a trans activist appeared to have posted a twitter gif that implied they were 'dancing on the grave' of a prominent feminist who sadly died today.

The thread was deleted with this message:

For a site created by and for women to suggest that someone celebrating the death of a young woman from cancer is a "nuanced" or "complicated" issue is both a complete abandonment of even the vaguest sense of commitment to the female user base that generates the advertising that pays your bills and demonstration of an abandonment of ethics so complete that I'm not sure how any of the people responsible sleep at night.

MN Talk threads are full of examples of women who suffer disadvantage and discrimination on the basis of sex - women whose jobs disappear when they tell their employer they're pregnant, women trapped in abusive relationships, women suffering with poor health because GPs don't take them seriously ... the list goes on. And in that context, MN expects us to stand meekly by while our experience is appropriated, our words are policed and we are denied the language we need to describe and challenge the disadvantage and discrimination we suffer because of our biology? I’m a GC feminist, I don’t believe that anyone can change biological sex and I think that gender is a pile of bullshit that helps nobody.

I think that anyone making tasteless jokes about the tragic death of Magdalen Berns from cancer is an utter cunt, regardless of whether they agree with her views or how ‘nuanced’ the trans debate may be.

If it was for misgendering then the rules need to be clear. Since RM is legally female I can see how the site could get in trouble with litigious TRAs out there.

Frankly, anyone gloating over the death of a young person from cancer is a terribly human being, regardless of which demographic they belong to. The fact that MN think that because in this case the person calls themselves a transwoman they should be given a deference that wouldn't be shown to anyone else is pretty much a giant blinking neon sign indicating that those who have major concerns about the current discourse about trans people have been right all along.
