Thoughtful insights into how some women get drawn into the wrong side of the debate.

What's the point? Well I suspect strongly that the reason you won't answer is because you know you would still feel like a woman even in a man's body. I suspect you won't confirm that because it undermines your argument.

I can't believe this is even a serious proposition. We're not ten!

If you woke up tomorrow, a.k.a. in a Hollywood film, in the body of someone else, you would have the body of someone else!!!

If a woman woke up in a man's body, she could get a woman pregnant, have a wank with a penis, and be paid 20% more.

Hence the entire premise for the whole fucking film!

Dear lord. Kids eh?

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 19:29

Having empathy and compassion is possible without having to give away rights in a way which could be detrimental to those they currently apply to, Petrol. Can you not understand that concept?

I think that post was adequately answered by Lass. It’s not good if in your own head you think of other women as bitches or cows.

You probably should work on yourself if those terms are running around in your head.

I don’t think there is more to add than that. I’m pretty sure the poster who talked about it was aware it was indefensible.

DecomposingComposers · 31/07/2019 19:29

There are 500 posts on here Roses and you are focused on one post in which the poster actually said she wouldn't say those things, if I remember rightly.

She said that she thought those things though. Including calling some women cowbag bitches and some posters on here defended her.

Since when do feminists defend someone calling women bitches?

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 31/07/2019 19:29

The ‘wake up in a different body’ stuff is so freaking pointless

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:30

Exactly!

PetrolBastard · 31/07/2019 19:30

Yes, I think people should be able to have whatever physical changes made to themselves that they feel strongly convinced they would be happier with. I don't necessarily agree those changes should be available on the NHS. But people can pay for body modifications if they can convince a surgeon there's a requirement for them. It's not my body, so not up to me to decide how many limbs someone else should have.

Datun · 31/07/2019 19:31

I do agree it's wrong to call women who want sex segregating places names. So yes I do agree with that what you just said

Hallelujah.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 31/07/2019 19:32

I am very unhappy with surgeons doing work that makes people’s bodies work less well, but apart from that people can knock themselves out

PetrolBastard · 31/07/2019 19:32

It's not pointless at all. It's very telling that no one will answer. It's a very useful way of determining whether you feel that your gender identity is something that you feel rather than something that you see.

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:32

Hallelujah.

And still no acknowledgement of the fact you are completely twisting people's words to avoid answering
If anyone was doing that to you'd no doubt cry gaslighting.

Juells · 31/07/2019 19:32

She said that she thought those things though.

Thought crime! 😜

Endofthedays · 31/07/2019 19:33

If in the future they could grow a dick in a lab and attach it to me and it feels like my dick, then yes, I’ll have one, as long as I can have some kind of radical anti ageing treatment that makes me 23.

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:33

It really is, isn't it Petrol

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 31/07/2019 19:35

BECAUSE IT’S DAFT

It's a very useful way of determining whether you feel that your gender identity is something that you feel rather than something that you see

No, it isn’t

If it helps you, if I had a male body I’d be a man. As a teenager I often used to worry because I didn’t feel like a woman inside. Got over that though, and definitely a woman on the outside

DecomposingComposers · 31/07/2019 19:36

Thought crime!

No, not thought crime, just misogynism. I wonder why so few posters called her out on it though?

It does seem some people are willing to defend the indefensible if the person saying it purports to be on the same side. Thus place gets more like Animal Farm every day.

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:37

If it helps you, if I had a male body I’d be a man
And I wouldn't be. Clearly we're all different with different experiences, why if I can accept that can't others instead of just dismissing or resorting to playground

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 19:37

Petrol I'm not even going to get started on whether it's even proven that people who undergo such physical changes are actually happier.

But the argument isn't really about what physical changes people go through. It is their business only, until it becomes someone else's business when it infringes on their space and rights.

Isn't that feeling what posters are talking about? How did you not feel like a woman if that does not exist?

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:38

Yep, I bet me or you said I thought people who didn't agree were cowbag bitches I'd get accused of being a man.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 31/07/2019 19:39

Yes, I still don’t understand why gender identity is relevant in any way to spaces and provisions set aside for certain sexes? Confused

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 19:39

Isn't that feeling what posters are talking about? How did you not feel like a woman if that does not exist?

Exactly......

PetrolBastard · 31/07/2019 19:39

Oh, now you FEEL like a woman. I thought you were only a woman because of your physical manifestation?

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 31/07/2019 19:40

Isn't that feeling what posters are talking about? How did you not feel like a woman if that does not exist?

No, I didn’t feel like anything, I just felt like me. Still do

Endofthedays · 31/07/2019 19:40

Very few people defended her.

People pointed out it was wrong. She agreed.

There’s not much more to be said.

It’s like on the long hair thread. A poster keeps saying over and over that femininity is pushed on women in many ways. She’s getting annoyed that people aren’t agreeing with her.

But people aren’t disagreeing with her either. They’re just not engaging.

I don’t feel the need to engage with something that is indefensible and wasn’t defended on this thread.
