You give me far more credit than I deserve early

But just a correction to this:

Transactivism is shortened to TRA

TRA is TRANS RIGHTS ACTIVISTS
It's referring to one specific type of transactivism, the type removing rights from women.

Datun · 13/07/2019 09:56

Given that it is largely girls who are showing up at gender clinics. And given that the increase is out of control, the new research into puberty blockers showing the girls have bone density lower than almost all their peers, is enough of a reason to question everyone and everything about this ideology.

mobile.twitter.com/will_malone/status/1148000551608750080

The unbelievably irresponsible push for puberty blockers, under the claim that they are harmless, on zero research, is enough to question every single person who has anything to do with it.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 09:56

It's a bit hypocritical of you to jab at one set of baseless handywavey statements while doing it yourself.

PurpleCrowbar · 13/07/2019 09:57

Yep, this was me. I'd like trans people to be happy & safe. Especially the ones I know personally, but y'know everyone else too, on general principles of niceness.

When I came up against name calling & threats, for saying I didn't believe people could actually change sex & I thought we should consider competing needs carefully when discussing spaces used by women...nah.

I think peakTRA might be better than peaktrans, as the latter does open us up to disingenuous shrieks of 'OMG you obviously hate trans people!', but peaktrans is clearly understood unless you're going out of your way to misunderstand it...

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:00

Since you appear not to be able to do internet searches, and you don't seem to have read any newspapers for the last 3 or 4 years, here are some links for you.
Why the insults? It is strange behaviour to reel off as fact with nothing to back it up and then refuse to say why.
Thanks for linking anyway, at least somebody did - that's all I asked for - source

DpWm · 13/07/2019 10:00

Good grief do your own research will you

GirlDownUnder · 13/07/2019 10:01

Maybe Roses you should try google and see if you can prove the numbers wrong as you clearly don't want to read the link OldCrone helpfully posted for you Smile

DpWm · 13/07/2019 10:01

It's all over the fucking news. How could you have missed it all Roses?

Spinnaret · 13/07/2019 10:02

I think OldCrone and ShinyForrid get what I was trying to say. If I, as an actual 'assigned at birth' woman don't know how being a woman feels, how can anyone who was born male possibly think that their feelings are female.

I will not be told that I have no right to question this.

And this has nothing to do with sexuality. There is nothing illogical in sexual preference. But stereotyping based on a social construct harms everyone. I always think of David Bowie and Annie Lennox, people who dress/ed as they wish/ed, yet no pretence at being the other sex. We have gone backwards in society.

FWIW, I am someone who used to be completely woke and thought anyone who questioned trans ideology were obviously all awful people. The scales have thoroughly fallen from my eyes.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:03

Is it just me who doesn't swallow everything blindly?
I was always taught if you're going to throw out facts, you should be able to back them up. Or at least question anything you're not sure about.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:03

The irony of complaining about reading rude comments on the internet whilst simultaneously posting rude comments on the internet - to other women on the same website as you.

Ereshkigal · 13/07/2019 10:04

I always wonder how people who consider themselves trans can actually any sense of being either female or male (depending on which they actually are). As a woman, I have never been a man so I don't know what being a man feels like. How can anyone know that their gender feels are those of the opposite sex? It's completely illogical

Well, yes? What exactly is wrong with this comment?

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:04

It's all over the fucking news. How could you have missed it all Roses?

Some people aren't interested in current affairs. Although it's a bit odd to be so opinionated about something on which you refuse to inform yourself.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 10:05

at least question anything you're not sure about.

But not question the feeling of being female, what it is, what it feels like, try and understand it?

You either believe in questioning or you don't, you can't have it both ways.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 13/07/2019 10:05

GD exists, but a man who feels uncomfortable with his male body, or the demands of society he faces as a male, doesn't feel like a woman. He can have no idea what it feels like to be a woman, because he's never been one. He can only feel like a man who is uncomfortable with some aspects of his body and/or the way he interacts with other people and /or the expectations of the society he lives in.

Spot on. And THIS is what treatment needs to focus on. Yet no one is providing that treatment. Instead they are telling vulnerable children that they can change sex. Notice how the majority of transitioners are children that don't yet realise the importance of their sexual organs or the implications of amputating those? Funny isn't it how grown men, who are fully aware of the importance (to them) of their dicks, aren't queuing up to have them chopped off?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 10:06

Are questions allowed to be asked about things we don't understand or not rose?

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:09

as you clearly don't want to read the link OldCrone helpfully posted for you
Where on earth did I give any impression I don't want to read them? I even said thankyou for linking.
As it was helpfully posted, you're right

OldCrone · 13/07/2019 10:10

Roses
When someone posts a dubious looking statistic or statement on the internet on a subject that I'm interested in, I go off and do a search to see if it might be true. If I can't find anything, I might then go and ask where it came from. How much effort I'm willing to expend on the search depends on how likely I think I am to find anything and how interested I am.

My google searches were '76 children trans', '10 girls trans school' and 'gids number referrals'. Very easy to find, so I wondered why you hadn't even bothered to try to find one of those links.

If you're interested in this topic, I'm surprised that you haven't seen any of the dozens of articles in newspapers over the last 3 or 4 years about the enormous rise in children - particularly teenage girls - being referred to gender clinics and identifying as the opposite sex.

FamilyOfAliens · 13/07/2019 10:12

My peak trans moment was being told by the Sex Education Forum, an organisation that advises schools in the UK, that it would be “problematic” for me to tell a child in school who asked me if people can change sex, that they can’t.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:16

Are questions allowed to be asked about things we don't understand or not rose?
Of course they are, I've never said questioning isn't OK

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 10:17

So far, nobody has really said why ‘Peak Trans’ is acceptable or what it means,

Peak trans is the point of no return; it is the point in thinking when each individual realises for herself or himself that all the statements made about transgenderist ideology are total fantasy. It is the point of realisation that the ideology has absolutely no basis in any material reality.

Once a person reaches that point of realisation there is no going back.

PurpleCrowbar · 13/07/2019 10:18

Didn't we used to have a thread of useful links for posters who don't know how to google?

Maybe someone could link it for Roses if it's still there?

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:21

Helpful? Rude you mean.

What exactly has this person done to you to deserve being spoken to like that? Not instantly agreed with you despite their better judgement? That's not a good reason to be rude to someone, is it?

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 10:22

And, for those who haven't yet read it, this analysis explains the different forms of gender dysphoria rather well:

4thwavenow.com/2017/12/07/gender-dysphoria-is-not-one-thing/

Earlywalker · 13/07/2019 10:23

This place has got so so weird lately.

Peak trans is offensive. It’s not disingenuous to say so. You call yourselves ‘gender critical’ so would be nice to engage in some critical thinking rather than waiting for back patting and being rude to anyone who doesn’t hang off your every word. And you have the nerve to moan continuously about TRAs treatment of people. It would be ironic if it wasn’t so tragic.
