Peak trans is the point of no return; it is the point in thinking when each individual realises for herself or himself that all the statements made about transgenderist ideology are total fantasy.

Indeed.

Many people started off being allies, because they were told to be kind and inclusive. But as they went along, issues arose. Women's erasure was getting noticed. In things like sports, women's positions, women's awards.

Then the misogyny of allowing males to assault women on the basis of the ideology.

Then the exposure of what children are being taught. The research into the drugs. The horrendous life changing surgeries. And the extraordinary increase in children subjected to harmful treatment, because of the aforementioned teaching in schools.

It doesn't take long to realise that kindness and inclusivity is used as leverage for compliance. As soon as you realise that, all your doubts crystallise in a moment of realisation that is known as peak trans.

Once you openly acknowledge your doubts, the reaction to them, instantly results in another peak.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:27

Helpful? Rude you mean. What exactly has this person done to you to deserve being spoken to like that? Not instantly agreed with you despite their better judgement? That's not a good reason to be rude to someone, is it?

Thanks, bit baffled myself Smile
Although someone'll no doubt be along to say "well women aren't meant to be nice" to justify it in a minute...

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 13/07/2019 10:28

@PurpleCrowbar do you mean this one?

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:29

Accusations of rudeness, anger, hysteria, are identical to those exhortations of kindness and inclusivity.

Leverage.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 10:29

Peak trans is offensive.

I disagree. It is the perfect expression to describe reaching the turning point in one's thinking about transgenderist ideology.

FermatsTheorem · 13/07/2019 10:30

That's a very good point Datun.

The problem isn't not knowing about or following the news - lots of people don't (or feel so overwhelmed by it that they can't - I've definitely reached "back off from Tory leadership/Brexit for my mental health" levels).

The problem is insisting you are right about something and getting into debates about it, when you haven't actually bothered to inform yourself.

PurpleCrowbar · 13/07/2019 10:30

But Petrol, I wasn't rude to Roses. I didn't even address Roses.

I recalled that there used to be a thread of up to date links, which would be useful to signpost to posters - like both of you, really - who aren't quite up to speed & apparently can't manage to google other posters' quickly verifiable assertions for themselves.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:31

Accusations of rudeness

Yes, because there IS rudeness to people who question and don't just "hang off every word" as EarlyWalker said.
It's literally on the thread.
All I said was can you cite your source when you randomly threw out numbers.

PurpleCrowbar · 13/07/2019 10:31

Yup thanks Peabody - think that's the one!

Very helpful. I'm sure Roses & Petrol will both find it extremely informative.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:32

No, accusations of rudeness is something you would be wise to consider. We're not the trans community here. You're talking to other women. Not that you should be rude to either. But you're not winning hearts and minds by poking people and calling them stupid. When did that tactic ever work?

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:33

The problem is insisting you are right about something and getting into debates about it, when you haven't actually bothered to inform yourself.

Especially when you've been doing it for years.

OldCrone · 13/07/2019 10:33

Peak trans is the point of no return; it is the point in thinking when each individual realises for herself or himself that all the statements made about transgenderist ideology are total fantasy. It is the point of realisation that the ideology has absolutely no basis in any material reality.

I think this is a good description of what peak trans is. It's not transgender people who are the problem, it's transgender ideology. But it goes further than just TRAs. The problem is also all those people who insist that everyone has a gender identity and teaching children that they should have a gender identity and that it's possible to change sex.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:34

Well that's an amusingly disingenuous denial of rudeness. You know you are being rude. What are you hoping to achieve?

We'll continue to do things our way thanks. It's working so far.

Just because one person says something is "rude" or another says something is "offensive" does not make it true. It just makes it your personal interpretation.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:35

You know as well as I do that I didn't say that. That's what you chose to interpret from my position. A big difference.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:37

OK, bit confused now - that Break It down for me link very nice and all, but what has that got to do with the thread in question about the term peak trans and what I asked, which is where the figures came from?

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:37

You know as well as I do that I didn't say that. That's what you chose to interpret from my position. A big difference.

You said you don't give a shit and Karen White should be in a female prison.

There is little room for interpretation, I'm afraid.

PurpleCrowbar · 13/07/2019 10:37

Well, if I thought you were posting in good faith, I'd be hoping to save you time & enable you to be better informed.

As it is, I'm sure other newbies might find that thread really useful.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:37

I don't think it is working. I think the ideologies on MN are reaching a level of fervour that very few people can be bothered to engage with any longer. For me personally, it's reached a level where I've become concerned about the wellbeing of the participants.

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:38

The thread is about the peak trans, but you would have to read it to know that, roses.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:38

We'll continue to do things our way thanks. It's working so far

You so sure about that? All this tactics did was make me see the light on here, and I know it has for others too as they've told me they have.
It's not working as well as you think it is, the rudeness etc - it's actively turning people away.

FamilyOfAliens · 13/07/2019 10:39

But you're not winning hearts and minds by poking people and calling them stupid.

In which post was it that someone was called stupid? Or is that a lie?

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:39

I don't give a shit about the differences between trans women and women, no. That's what I said specifically, isn't it?

See this is why people don't engage with you. Your tendency towards hysterical hyperbole.

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:40

Petrol, you might be interested to know that people accessing this site through the feminist boards increased 12 fold in one year.

It is, I believe, the third most popular board on a site which contains hundreds of boards.

We are awaiting statistics for the current quarter.
