This kind of crap is why I opted for homebirths

You sound unhinged.. some male doctors are amazing as are some female doctors. What is your point? It was a male doctor that diagnosed my daughter, it was a male surgeon that did her transplant and saved her life, I’ve also had female staff (doctors, nurses and dietician etc) that have helped tremendously. I know that isn’t birth related but your sex doesn’t determine how good at your job you are. In fact, I’ve had more judgment or rudeness from female staff than males but that’s me and that can be different for many others. You can’t demand a whole profession should only train females though, it’s ridiculous.

sakura184 · 14/07/2019 23:19

Of course you can demand that a professions train enough women to cater to the birth preferences, requirements and needs of women. It's absurd to suggest you can't.

Nobody is saying women who want men can't have them.

women like myself, however, are fighting to get away from men. And there are a lot of us .

@Aaarrgghhh

Name calling?
If you believe that, the only sane thing for you to do is to leave the thread

Are you going to force women to become midwives and doctors? If we don’t have the numbers for women to take over now how do plan for this to happen?

sakura184 · 14/07/2019 23:47

I have no idea why there are so many men in this field and why so many women "choose" the low paid low status work of care assistant. Oh wait I do know. It's because women are shunted into the pink ghetto while men "choose" professional respectable jobs.

58 % of the intake to UK medical schools is female. Women have been in the majority of medical school intake since 1990.

40 % of all doctors and 42% of GPs in the UK are women. Facts provided by The Royal College of Physicians.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:15

Great Lass, but women who don't want men involved in their care are still getting them foisted upon them.

We need less women in the pink ghetto doing rubbish low paid crappy unpleasant jobs with no status, and more women where they're needed

OP posts:
sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:17

Or let me guess women have just evolved to be cleaners

OP posts:
LassOfFyvie · 15/07/2019 00:28

but women who don't want men involved in their care are still getting them foisted upon them

And once again- how do you propose doing this? We know you would like to ban men going into gynaecology and obstetrics- are you going to force female medical graduates into it?

We need less women in the pink ghetto doing rubbish low paid crappy unpleasant jobs with no status, and more women where they're needed

Non - sequitur. Plenty of men do low paid jobs. 58%, and rising, of women are going into medical school. Law, accountancy and veterinary medicine are the same.

LassOfFyvie · 15/07/2019 00:30

Sorry 58%, and rising, of the intake into medical school is women. Law, accountancy and veterinary medicine are the same.

Or let me guess women have just evolved to be cleaners what from medical school to cleaner? You are making no sense.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:36

The gender pay gap tells us that even though some men do have crap jobs it's overwhelmingly women and poverty is feminized. We get told it's because women choose and prefer low paid jobs. I think it's because men elbow women out of the decent jobs.

Also, is it my problem that men get low paid jobs? No it's not. Why is this turning into a what about the men thread?

I'm going to regard anyone else arguing that women just prefer crap work and low pay on FWR as slightly unhinged.

LassOfFyvie · 15/07/2019 00:43

so, is it my problem that men get low paid jobs? No it's not. Why is this turning into a what about the men thread?

Didn't say it was your problem. I was replying to your bizarre non sequitur that there aren't enough female doctors because women are going into low paid jobs. Your comment about low paid jobs is wholly irrelevant to this thread. Or are you aiming for a 100% female intake?

And you might want to have a think about what a complete snob you are in the way you refer to low paid jobs as "crappy"

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:43

From medical school to cleaner?

What are you on about? Are you suggesting that women who are cleaners are too thick to enter medical school? That there is no system of oppression confining them to a crap unskilled low paid job. That men are just "better " at stuff like gynecology ( even though loads of women don't want them there in gynecology and loads more are wondering why they're even there in the first place)

OP posts:
sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:45

LOL! At me being a job snob. I won't even tell you what my current job is. Thanks for the lols

I'm going to regard anyone else arguing that women just prefer crap work and low pay on FWR as slightly unhinged

Any one else?

I never said anything of the kind so goodness knows who you are referring to. You started banging on about low paid jobs as part of your irrelevant response to the facts about intake into medical school.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:47

Low paid jobs are crappy

How absolutely so far removed from "the people" must you be to not realize that people in crappy jobs know their jobs are crappy and hate their shitty wage

Do you really think people prefer low paying jobs? Or they're too thick for anything better? Or that they are , or should be, content with their lot at the bottom of the pile .

OP posts:
LassOfFyvie · 15/07/2019 00:50

Are you suggesting that women who are cleaners are too thick to enter medical school?

Nope. I was trying to tease some sense out of your bizarre non sequitur.

I posted about the high level of female intake into medical school. Your response was to start talking about women evolving into cleaners.

LassOfFyvie · 15/07/2019 00:53

Oh good another change of direction !

Having failed in the assertion that women are being kept out of medicine you've now moved it on to low paid jobs.

aliasundercover · 15/07/2019 01:02

Low paid jobs are crappy
My job is low paid (minimum wage) and it's anything but crappy.
I work with adults with serious learning disabilities. It's exhausting, and the pay is barely enough to live on, but it's essential for the people I work with and I love it.

Thanks for telling me it's crappy though. It's good to know how I'm viewed.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 01:06

All the unwanted men in gynecology ( and there are plenty going by women's trauma stories) are there because they were just better than any women.

and women in crappy jobs they hate are there because of personal failures 😂 and maybe even a lack of intelligence (?), definitely not systemic oppression

OP posts:
sakura184 · 15/07/2019 01:07

@aliasundercover
Oh ffs alias, you love your job, so it's not crappy! I'm taking about crappy jobs not your job. You got lucky

OP posts:
sakura184 · 15/07/2019 01:12

Literally "I love my low paid job therefore all low paid jobs are great" is not really an argument.

OP posts:
aliasundercover · 15/07/2019 01:13

If you don't mean to say "Low paid jobs are crappy" then you shouldn't say it, rather than get tetchy when you're called out.

And no, I didn't 'get lucky'. I chose what I wanted to do very carefully. Any other. Anything else you want to throw my way?

aliasundercover · 15/07/2019 01:16

Literally "I love my low paid job therefore all low paid jobs are great" is not really an argument
If I'd said that you might have a point.
It was YOU who said 'low paid jobs are crappy'. I pointed out that they aren't all crappy.

Don't double down when you're wrong.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 01:19

@aliasundercover

I'm glad your life worked out for you, how you wanted it to. The only thing I would add is that it would be better if women's work, the kind you're doing, was paid better.

I know a lot of people who were thrown into low paid jobs through various life circumstances that they didn't predict. I am one of them. Sorry if I sound less than enthused about my shit job
