Causing a storm on Twitter...

Causing a storm by stating the bleedin' obvious.

What times we live in.

PlonitbatPlonit · 01/07/2019 18:59

There are still a few tickets to see her speak on 10 July www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-womans-place-is-on-the-podium-tickets-62871342879 WPUK have announced they'll have a bigger venue!

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 01/07/2019 19:00

Nothing like a bit of grade 3 science to rattle the cages in Dr Moreau’s lab.

SunsetBeetch · 01/07/2019 19:03

She's getting the usual, predictable insults from the usual suspects. They really are stupid.

mabelmylove · 01/07/2019 19:08

Luckily I doubt we will ever be in a situation where we have to pick two humans to survive while the rest of us are killed. But never say never.

InsulatedCup · 01/07/2019 19:13

What a star she is. For stating biological facts. Go Sharron

LonginesPrime · 01/07/2019 19:16

Omg, so if I go on holiday with another female friend, humanity will die out?!?

mabelmylove · 01/07/2019 19:19

Maybe I’m dumb but I genuinely do not understand the point of her tweet. Surely no matter your views on gender, no one disagrees or is unaware that you need certain organs to conceive new life? It’s just that to quite a few people these days, there is more to a relationship than procreation.

Hirsutefirs · 01/07/2019 19:19

“Omg, so if I go on holiday with another female friend, humanity will die out?!?”

Eventually.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 01/07/2019 19:29

You need a Male and a female. That’s the point of the tweet.

Eaudear · 01/07/2019 19:30

She is not talking about relationships. She is answering the arguments that biological sex is oh such a complicated grey area and sex isn't binary (whilst apparently 'gender identity' is so set in stone that we need to change our laws to accommodate it).

Many people on that thread are missing the point entirely.

Eaudear · 01/07/2019 19:33

Are you aware of what 'sexual orientation' means? If a man said he was homosexual, who would you expect him to be having sex with? Would you expect a gay man or a lesbian woman to have to think about contraception in a sexual relationship?

3timeslucky · 01/07/2019 19:33

You'd think so wouldn't you? Her point is made clear in her final sentence - biological sex matters. You need a man and a woman - not people who identify as men and women but actually aren't.

boatyardblues · 01/07/2019 19:37

There are some very stupid people on Twitter. 🙄

AlwaysComingHome · 01/07/2019 19:41

Surely no matter your views on gender, no one disagrees or is unaware that you need certain organs to conceive new life?

Have you ever been on Twitter?

JessicaWakefieldSV · 01/07/2019 19:41

That’s nothing new! Ha. Relationships aren’t the focus of the tweet. Gosh, you really didn’t get it did you?

Jasging · 01/07/2019 19:47

She is really fighting the good fight but I hope she has stepped up her security there are some nutters out there, especially the trans twitterati. I wish some other high profile women would be as brave.

OP posts:
Bluerussian · 01/07/2019 19:52

Well said Sharron.

DpWm · 01/07/2019 20:36

She didn't phrase it very well Grin but some point was made

RiddleyW · 01/07/2019 20:39

It’s a pretty gormless tweet tbh. Obviously putting two women on an island does not result in humanity dying out. Unless they’ve got nukes maybe?

UnWilly · 01/07/2019 20:44

Odd article on The Poke about it

"Sharron Davies shared her binary sex fantasy island and got entirely the responses she deserved"

"she took to Twitter to say this (for no immediately obvious reason)"

www.thepoke.co.uk/2019/07/01/sharron-davies-shared-her-binary-sex-thoughts-that-nobody-asked-for-and-got-entirely-responses-she-deserved/

mabelmylove · 01/07/2019 20:46

Gosh, you really didn’t get it did you?

Well, no. I did literally state that I don’t understand. The tweet comes with very little context.

Datun · 01/07/2019 20:56

Whilst I understand that there are many ways to demonstrate that sex is binary, it never ceases to amaze that we actually have to keeping doing it.

Sharron has the patience of a bloody saint.

Aspley · 01/07/2019 21:11

I saw a lesbian on Twitter the other day, defining lesbian. Straight away some trans activist pounced with the usual shut up "terf" stuff (the thread was linked to an MP).
The more abusive and public they get, the more people will see this for what it is and the penny will drop.

RiddleyW · 01/07/2019 21:15

Whilst I understand that there are many ways to demonstrate that sex is binary, it never ceases to amaze that we actually have to keeping doing it.

Well sex is binary obviously but I don’t see how Sharron’s tweet demonstrates that. If you fill in the gaps to make the parable make sense then it demonstrates, I suppose, that you need a male and a female to procreate.
