Causing a storm on Twitter...

Sharron
OP posts:
SarahTancredi · 01/07/2019 23:09

They may rage but i bet none of them would actually believe their own shit enough to have a relationship with someone who identified as a man/woman.

Remember Robin? The one who believes transwonen are women except for relationship purposes?

Has anyone mentioned womb transplants yet..

Eaudear · 01/07/2019 23:10

To be honest the tweet, without context, does come across as homophobic.

How the fuck is it 'homophobic' to say that you need a male and female to procreate? That is not making any judgement on the 'morality' of same sex relationships, its a statement of biological fact. Its not transphobic either, how are biological facts anything-phobic?

And she says at the end that sex is binary, which is the point she is trying to make.

SarahTancredi · 01/07/2019 23:11

Let's not pretend they give a shit about homosexuals anyway given the amount of time they spend harassing lesbians for not doing dick.

AlwaysComingHome · 01/07/2019 23:12

To be honest the tweet, without context, does come across as homophobic.

No, it only comes across as homophobic if you invent a context in which it is homophobic.

Eaudear · 01/07/2019 23:16

She is not saying that same sex relationships are 'unnatural' she is saying same a same sex relationship ain't gonna result conception.

Fucking hell, the deliberate misinterpreting and diverting going on from that tweet is unbelievable!

I wonder if Owen Jones, since coming out as gay, has ever had to worry about getting one of his sexual partners pregnant? If not, why not?

Eaudear · 01/07/2019 23:18

Why do people keep saying she is accusing same sex relationships of being 'unnatural' she has said nothing of the sort.

2BthatUnnoticed · 01/07/2019 23:55

“Male and female adults have physical differences. Those differences are a material reality and cannot be eliminated by someone identifying as the opposite sex. Sex (as opposed to gender) does matter. Here’s an example.”

That’s how I understood it.

Datun · 02/07/2019 00:15

To be honest the tweet, without context, does come across as homophobic.

It really, really doesn't.

Wizbetisanizbet · 02/07/2019 06:42

I see OJ is now organising a pile on against Sharron. He really is a nasty spiteful little man.

Wizbetisanizbet · 02/07/2019 06:44

My apologies it's already been mentioned. Still he is an odious little twerp.

AmericasAss · 02/07/2019 06:53

How is it homophobic to state that 2 men on their own cant have a baby. And the 2 women, on their own, cant have a baby.

She made no judgment on relationships or claimed that means same sex relationships shoildnt happen.

JackyHolyoake · 02/07/2019 07:12

Sex is binary because of the gametes:

females create the large gamete [ovum]; males create the small gamete [sperm]:

RiddleyW · 02/07/2019 07:18

I’m obviously struggling to be understood for which I am sorry. I accept completely that sex is binary. What I’m not getting is how Sharron’s tweet is demonstrating that in any way.

JackyHolyoake · 02/07/2019 07:21

I accept completely that sex is binary. What I’m not getting is how Sharron’s tweet is demonstrating that in any way.

I believe Sharron is saying that for procreation to occur a body that produces the large gamete must interact with a body that produces the small gamete.

Wizbetisanizbet · 02/07/2019 07:27

Basically Sharron is saying if two males (no matter how they are identifying) are stuck on a desert island then there will be zero young produced because they are both male and visa versus with females.

It's not homophobic or transphobic it is pure simple biological fact.

But I guess most things are 'phobic' now. 🙄

Fallofrain · 02/07/2019 07:45

Problem is that if your gay, you will of heard this weird sort of arguement all the time. " Ie what if you were on a desert island and it was just you and a man?if everyone was gay we would die out! Etc"

Ive never heard that line of questioning that doesnt result in some sort of "well its un natural" or that sex without procreation is pointless.

I recognise that it might not be her point, but trust me the whole island thing will make most people think it is.

AmericasAss · 02/07/2019 07:53

So because some people use biology to say people shouldnt be gay.

We cant talk about biology?

How the hell, do we teach biology in schools?

Wizbetisanizbet · 02/07/2019 07:58

No one here has said it was un natural or sex should be for procreation and neither did Sharron. It is biological fact that two adult human males cannot produce a child together without the need for a adult human female to provide an ovum and then gestate said child.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 07:58

If by most people you mean the dumb arses who still remain on Twitter, that judge people ok isolated tweets, then sure. But I don’t know anyone like this in real life. I’ve shown my gay and lesbian friends that tweet. They have no issue. You do need a Male and female to procreate. You can’t do that based on feelings in your head. For those searching for homophobia in limited character tweets, sure. But they would be calling her homophobic anyway. What GC woman hasn’t been accused of that?

Fallofrain · 02/07/2019 08:00

I think youve misunderstood me. Lets not throw the baby out with the bayh water, I totally agree that a baby needs sperm and an egg. I dont think anyone is disagreeing with that

However the whole island thing is very much a troupe. Its a very common arguement to say that being gay is unnatural and thus for shameful. There is not enough context in the tweet to make her actual point which is about transgender people seperate from this.

In the same way that you wouldnt say to an infertile couple, well if left on an island you'd die out. Not anyless true but everyone is aware of the biology, its being edgy for the sake of it

AmericasAss · 02/07/2019 08:09

Well if you having a biological fact based discussion. Yes and infertile couple would die out. Why would you pretend any different?

So cant tall about islands, or biological fact in case you upset someone who assumes you mean being gay is unnatural?

That seems sensible Hmm

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 08:09

She isn’t directing it at homosexual people. She’s not saying it to them. Like I said before, the last 3 words should make it clear, especially given her recent public campaigning regarding sex in sport.

RiddleyW · 02/07/2019 08:09

Fallofrain is putting it better than I am, thanks.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 08:11

No they aren’t. You’re both essentially saying the same thing so often said to women: be nice, don’t say anything others might misinterpret, don’t speak facts in case you upset someone. Sharron has said nothing wrong.

JackyHolyoake · 02/07/2019 08:13

I've never heard that line of questioning that doesn't result in some sort of "well its un natural" or that sex without procreation is pointless.

If the aim is to perpetuate a species that has adapted to utilise sexual reproduction for its survival, then sex without procreation is purposeless.

For perpetuation of such a species sexual interaction must occur and be successful between bodies that produce the complementary gametes.

This is not a religious, political or any other ideological position to take; it is a very basic biological fact.

Beyond that, sexual interaction with the sole aim of experiencing the pleasure of it, without any aim to procreate, occurs between some bodies that produce the same gametes [homosexuality] and some bodies that produce the complementary gametes [heterosexuality].
