Causing a storm on Twitter...

Sharron
OP posts:
Datun · 02/07/2019 09:41

Illuminatingly OvaHere, not a single comment, in any way, alludes to homophobia or indeed, homosexuality at all, under that article.

Not one person who isn't determined to shut Sharron up, misinterprets what she has said.

The fact is that people overwhelmingly agree with her, and they all have thousands of upvotes.

Ihatesundays · 02/07/2019 10:05

I know someone who is offended because she is infertile Hmm and how does she fit into this and aren’t trans people just the same.
I think Sharron is just trying to use it as an example that’s all of what basic biology is.

Strange this person when she goes to buy a new pet doesn’t ask for one created by 2 bitches.

LangCleg · 02/07/2019 10:11

Sharron is making me die laughing!

On the Sanctimonious Morph:

Wow I’d never heard of him until yesterday

Grin

That’ll cut deep

littlbrowndog · 02/07/2019 10:16

Haha Owen Jones. Never heard of him

He will be frothing now 💪😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 10:17

She’s taking legal advice over his tweet too. Good.

Haworthia · 02/07/2019 10:22

Ugh, some of the pompous, obtuse replies (from men especially) are making me so angry.

One said (I’m paraphrasing) “since when did any trans person believe they could change their chromosomes?

But surely parroting TWAW (and TMAM) amounts to virtually the same fucking thing? It literally stops one micro-step short of declaring their chromosomes have bloody changed. Aaaargh!

Datun · 02/07/2019 10:38

One said (I’m paraphrasing) “since when did any trans person believe they could change their chromosomes?

If they are women, then all of them!

The incoherence is embarrassing.

Transwomen are women, but still have male chromosomes? But woman is an adult human female defined by chromosomes, in which case a transwomen is simultaneously an human female, and an adult human male.

And of course the yawning, canyon like hole in the entire issue, is the definition of the word woman. They want it to mean something social, but are never, ever prepared to tell you what.

Because obviously the entire argument will go up in a puff of smoke.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 02/07/2019 10:40

I see we’ve lost the posters who were at such pains to understand what Sharron truly meant

Perhaps they understand now?

JackyHolyoake · 02/07/2019 10:41

Because obviously the entire argument will go up in a puff of smoke.

.. will go up in smoke?

Darling Datun, it is already a pile of ashes! Grin

PCohle · 02/07/2019 10:42

Seems a bit of an odd tweet. I would have thought there were many better ways to make her point, that don't come across as homophobic.

RiddleyW · 02/07/2019 10:43

Perhaps they understand now?

No, still don’t see why her island thing demonstrates a binary. I know there is one but I still don’t see how the tweet shows that.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 02/07/2019 10:44

The fact that two people of the same sex can’t make a baby is homophobic now?

Cor

LangCleg · 02/07/2019 11:18

I would have thought there were many better ways to make her point, that don't come across as homophobic

She was pointing out that sex is significant by using the blindingly obvious example of human reproduction. Nothing to do with homosexuality and to say that it is is a bad faith reading.

People - WOMEN! - should be able to speak conversationally without requiring a fucking sensitivity reader and multiple levels of editing before putting it out in public.

It's a scold's bridle. A coercive control technique attempting to intimidate women from participating in public discussion.

Stop supporting it.

dancingcamper · 02/07/2019 11:28

It's why I don't bother with islands etc. When people insist they really believe TWAW, no different to other women I ask them what people they would need to make a baby.

Everyone knows the biological reality.

AlwaysComingHome · 02/07/2019 11:29

Sharon’s clear and obvious point is that we know that there are two sexes, and this state came about because that is how we reproduce.

She is not implying that people who don’t have children are somehow inferior. I don’t have kids. This isn’t an insult, it is just a fact.

I don’t see why people who are more or less saying ‘I’m to stupid to understand Sharron’s argument’ think their stupidity is a trump card.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 02/07/2019 11:37

I don’t see why people who are more or less saying ‘I’m to stupid to understand Sharron’s argument’ think their stupidity is a trump card.

Me too

DpWm · 02/07/2019 11:57

different to other women I ask them what people they would need to make a baby

The woke answer to that is
A person with a penis who isn't infertile and a person with a vagina who isn't infertile.

An exhausting amount of words because you're not allowed to say "a man and a woman" anymore in relation to reproduction.

Biology teachers are going to have such a fucking hard job on their hands. (And a lot of Kleenex).

Datun · 02/07/2019 12:06

The reason she used a desert island is because it precludes anyone stepping in at the last minute to create a binary!

Datun · 02/07/2019 12:07

Darling Datun, it is already a pile of ashes! grin

Ooh DarlingDatun - I like it!

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:39

I'm disabled and I have kids and shocker would not immediately die if left on an island :/

What a weird thing to say.

I also don't see why saying you can't get babies with 2 dicky people or 2 cunty people is homophobic.

And yes there are people who say that sex is a social construct and irrelevant, gender (how you feel inside) is all that matters. Which is extremely offensive to all the people through history mainly women but also men who have suffered due to their sex. It was irrelevant didn't matter. Maybe they were imagining it.

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:41

'A person with a penis who isn't infertile and a person with a vagina who isn't infertile.'

And who are old enough?

You couldn't say that anyway as it's exclusive in some way. The vagina part at least.

Also weren't we told that there's basically no difference between a penis and a clitoris apart from size?!!!

dancingcamper · 02/07/2019 12:48

It doesn't really matter what words you use, but it must be a man and a woman. And everyone knows this.

MenuPlant · 02/07/2019 12:54

And women and girls are treated appallingly all over the world every day because of it.

But let's handwave that minor issue away shall we, it doesn't affect anyone important.

Natsku · 02/07/2019 14:05

It would have been better worded if it had been instead of two biological females she had put a woman and a transman, so woman and transman or man and transwoman. TRAs then couldn't say it was homophobic without being transphobic themselves (by admitting a transman isn't in fact a man) and not detract from the actual point about sex being binary.
