If you could chose sex from birth would you live as a man?

I realised almost every bad or difficult thing thats happened to me personally most likely wouldn't happen to a guy. So if could chose, I think I would probably chose to live life as a man. This makes me a bit sad.

How about you guys?

And not have fat fingers

Doje · 05/06/2019 21:37

No, because all the good things that have happened in my life wouldn't have happened.

The relationships, the fun, the dancing, the conversations are all so much better. I may get slated, but I think there's so much more going on with women than with men.

managedmis · 05/06/2019 21:38

Man of course.

Tall, white, good looking, educated and preferably American or British. Can't go wrong really

Orchidoptic · 05/06/2019 21:38

Why would I want to be a man? A tree, now, I’ve always thought that would be a good idea.

letsrunfar · 05/06/2019 21:40

I guess it depends on how you define "having it easier"

More likely to die at work
Higher suicide rate
More likely to be victim of violet crime
More likely to be killed
Harder to find sexual partners
If working class, more likely to under perform in education and work.

Plenty not to like about being a man.

ReganSomerset · 05/06/2019 21:47

Depends. In the UK in 2018, I'll stay female thanks. In Saudi Arabia, I'd go male. Also anywhere with fgm.

ReganSomerset · 05/06/2019 21:48

*2019. Bloody phone.

Yeahsurewhatever · 05/06/2019 21:58

Yep. Without question.
I always wanted to be a boy when I was growing up - the boys and men around me seemed to have a much better deal.
Now the men my age at work aren't stressing about the same stuff I am (like how to have kids without ruining my career)- because I'm a woman.

The older women at work are struggling with childcare after the men in their lives left.

Any partners struggle with me being career focused, earning more money etc.

sex is easier, any health issues I have are due to my complicated reproductive system, no pregnancy, childbirth, breast feeding, mum shaming, slut shaming, body shaming

Plenty to not like about being a man. But I think the pros outweigh the cons by far.

RaininSummer · 05/06/2019 22:02

No I don't think so. They get an easier ride in many ways but women are amazing.

Lamaha · 05/06/2019 22:05

No way. I love being female. Men in spite if their privilege don't have a better deal. BECAUSE of our situation we tend to be more sensitive; less yucky and gross we get it more than men. Since I believe that spiritual growth is the aim of life, and male ego and sense of entitlement is one of the hardest hurdles to overcome, I choose female every time. Plus I love being a mother.

It's a loaded question though. We are women so we know the negatives but are, generally, happy. Ask men and they would probably say similar.

Giving a theoretical person a list of pros and cons for both and seeing free choice is the only way to truly test the theory.

Personally I am pretty certain being a man is easier because I am intimately aware of the drawbacks of being a women. Men most likely have the reverse idea.

Fl0w3r · 05/06/2019 22:17

Nope! I love being a woman!

Although I do wish I didn't have to deal with mega painful periods each month.

Orchidoptic · 05/06/2019 22:20

regan, the UK is out, then. My doctors has a huge poster about FGM. They wouldn’t have that if it didn’t happen here.

littlbrowndog · 05/06/2019 22:22

Oh no I like me and all my stuff.

I like being a mum mostly. I like women I think women are complex and I dunno I guess intriguing because we juggle so much in our lives

I like being a woman

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 05/06/2019 22:23

No I couldn't imagine not being me. Although I would like to live in an equal Society.

InstallUpdatesOnly · 05/06/2019 22:27

It's interesting. I guess one main reason patriarchy exists is because men want to control the power of womens reproductive abilities. So it maybe isn't surprising why so many of us feel we don't want to let go of that capacity. My body making a child and all that means is not something I'd want to easily give up despite all the disadvantages. Though in most times and places I would think being male would still outweigh that.

strawberrypenguin · 05/06/2019 22:35

No. I'm happy being me

bengalcat · 05/06/2019 22:37

Nope quite happy being a girl / woman

starzig · 05/06/2019 22:38

No. Love being a girl.

dwatsuts · 05/06/2019 22:42

No. Being a man means being ugly. Being a woman would be nice so I could be attractive.

Why from birth? Why not from conception? For many girls it is their sex at conception that matters not birth as they don’t get that far.
