What with Debbie Hayton's article in the TES, TRAs have issued twitter orders that looking things up on Transgender Trend must stop immediately.

There has been an All Ports warning that the more you visit the website, the more it rises up the google rankings, and knocks other transgender websites off their perches. This is erasure, they say.

Now do as you are told. Stop driving by Transgender Trend at least once a day, if not more, and ruining things.

Oh they have a page on science

www.transgendertrend.com/brain-research/

I like science, what a shame I’m not allowed to read it.

Persifleur · 15/05/2019 00:11

I came onto this thread to see what all the fuss was about. Oh, it's just www.transgendertrend.com
Whew! Nothing to frighten the children.

NotTerfNorCis
Many apologies, I got your name wrong. Sorry

Jux · 15/05/2019 00:22

On my iPad I'm sure I was actually clicking on a link to cute kittens but somehow the forbidden site came up Blush. I had to try on my phone but the same thing happened, I've no idea why or how.

And sadly my laptop seems to be infected by this same bug as has infected my other devices, and Transgender Trend has been visited quite a few times as a result.

I have made it my home page by mistake. Aaaaaaaaargh!

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/05/2019 08:10

I don't actually like kittens, I think I might have to click on one of the other links on here

FermatsTheorem · 15/05/2019 08:18

Given that my default browser is firefox and my default search engine is duck duck go, it would require quite a few clicks to inadvertently google
transgender trend, but amazingly it turns out one's mouse can slip in just this manner (very much in the manner of monkeys producing Shakespeare). Who'da thought?

ChattyLion · 15/05/2019 08:21

Well I only put in ‘transgender’ and ‘school’ into Google and got to the TransgenderTrend site 4th in the ranking. Will try to check back in to see if there are any changes to that. Feels a bit like those very slow ‘horse derby’ games on the pier..

FermatsTheorem · 15/05/2019 08:25

Chatty - it's only a clean test if you clear your browsing history in between. Google puts cookies on your computer/phone to record your browsing history and to some extent "personalises" your search results based on what you've looked for in the past.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 15/05/2019 08:45

If you have a WordPress please make sure not to link from it. This would do things with spiders apparently.

ImNotNigel · 15/05/2019 09:16

Fermats - what about if you open a private browsing window on the iPad and then open another one ?

Genderfreelass · 15/05/2019 09:21

Just remembered not to search and look at TT and not spend some time browsing the site to make sure it was accidental.

Antibles · 15/05/2019 09:24

People I wish you wouldn't put these clicky links in your posts Angry. I just clicked on one accidentally when scrolling down the thread. Tsk.

ChattyLion · 15/05/2019 09:24

Fermats.... ahh good point. Thank you. I better try the whole thing again just to check it’s properly objective Smile

FermatsTheorem · 15/05/2019 09:26

ImNotNigel - I don't know about ipads, but that doesn't work on my windows 10 machine.

I've got firefox set up so that it always opens private windows, and clears all history/cookies/etc. between sessions. But I have to close firefox completely. If I have one window open and open a second one, it knows I'm logged into Mumsnet, so I presume also "knows" about my google history until such time as I close firefox down completely. Then it clears everything (I have to log back into Mumsnet/gmail/newspaper sites etc. each time I do this).

FermatsTheorem · 15/05/2019 09:43

Incidentally, I don't want to harsh everyone's mellow (I'm enjoying this as much as the next GC feminist), I don't think a handful of us googling is going to make much difference.

Searches like "trans children advice for parents" don't even throw up TG trend for me in the first 6 or 7 pages.

If we were serious about this, we'd be better off putting together a crowd funder to pay for TGT to get a really good IT specialist to revamp their webpages for them.

NoSquirrels · 15/05/2019 11:51

Yes, Fermats. I’d donate.

misscockerspaniel · 15/05/2019 13:31

I've just googled trans children advice for parents Sad and TT is now on the first page. It just needs to go higher up on the first page.

Mumminmum · 15/05/2019 17:14

Of course we are not going to click on that link, google Transgender trend or anything like that. They use science, FFS. Our fragile female brains cannot cope with such things. ...or so we are told ... by men. But it is the TWAs who are born with penises who cannot cope with science. What has the world turned into? It is all upside down. No, we must not visit www.transgendertrend.com/ ever. They have peer reviewed articles, FFS! Avoid at all costs.

FermatsTheorem · 15/05/2019 17:16

They have peer reviewed articles, FFS! Avoid at all costs.

Tis a well known fact that peer-reviewed science can make your uterus fall out. If you have one, that is. Not all women have uteruses (TM)

Mumminmum · 15/05/2019 17:21

another reason why we shouldn't visit the homepage www.transgendertrend.com/ is that they might be able to attract advertisers if they have too many visitors. We wouldn't like that, now. Would we?

Debenhamshandtowel · 15/05/2019 17:45

I Googled the same as misscockerspaniel but with different results. My page was full of fish-wall.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/05/2019 19:40

Google also really likes it when you visit more than one page on a website, particularly if you click on internal links and stay on them for a decent amount of time, say a minute. It reduces the 'bounce rate'-people visiting a website then closing almost immediately-and improves its ranking.

Sorry OP

A big girl made me do it.

Reasonstobeearful · 15/05/2019 20:28

FFS. All of this talk of kittens put me in mind to Google transgender kittens and guess where I ended up? This madness must stop.

LilyRed · 15/05/2019 20:56

I haven't visited Transgender Trend or read any of their literature either, honest guv

ErrolTheDragon · 15/05/2019 20:58

I just ended up at 4thwavenow by accident. Halo
