I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. Eddie Izzard is on Joe Rogan saying ALL bathrooms should be gender neutral and completely dismissed the concerns women have that Joe brought up. He dismissed it as “people always complain when there’s change”

I’d also ask the last time Eddie izzard used a public toilet, one at a train station or a regular cinema etc. He doesn’t. He’s a millionaire white male film star.

I was thinking recently about how most men just won't get why female-only toilets are so necessary.

We need them for (I have done all of these): avoiding men who are harassing us; comforting other women/girls who have been assulted by a man; dealing with heavy periods; breastfeeding when there is nowhere else to do it; taking a pregnancy test.

Not to mention the extra vulnerability when you're with toddlers/young children and couldn't escape danger quickly, plus the extra strength/size men have, plus a background culture that makes them feel entitled to whatever they want and to see women and girls as lesser and mainly for their pleasure/convenience.

Mixed sex toilets are an absolute nightmare, and the woke dudebros I know haven't a clue why.

We have gender neutral toilets at work but they are individual cubicles a bit like disabled toilets. They are completely enclosed so there are no gaps at the top and bottom so very private. They contain a sink and hand dryer and sanitary bin so there is no having to share a space with men. They are directly off the ground floor space and separated by a glass door so are visible from outside so they're not tucked away where you might feel intimidated by men being around. I like them because they are so private and no one can hear what you're doing. If done properly they can work.

Originally unisex toilets were needed to stop transwomen from literal violence in male toilets.

Now they want to let all men use the female toilets.

Which is it? Are they safe in the men's or not?

If not why the hell you wanna invite them into the ladies?

However there is a huge difference between staff toilets in a work place and public toilets in a restaurant/bar/shopping centre.

I am an older woman (over 50 ) so I've been seeing the change over a good few years. I will say I admit to not feeling particularly bothered if a male toilet attendant is in the female toilets when I am in there. I am also ok if I see an obviously trans man in the toilet ( who knows if there are many more who I don't notice ) But mixed sex toilets - no .

If there were gender neutral bathrooms, many women and some men would be afraid to use them, especially if they have continence issues. There would be physical and mental health issues that resulted, and some people would possibly be afraid to leave the house or attend certain events/places.

I absolutely despise Eddie Izzard. Why on earth would any of us give any oxygen to a man who dresses up as a woman just for his own entertainment and pleasure. He has no idea what it is like being a woman, nor does he care. He is just another man encroaching on our space, making our lives a little less safe and miserable.

Also, have you seen the state of him. He looks a mess. He looks like something that would be right at home sitting in the corner of the Rovers Return with Enid Sharples and Hilda Ogden.

I don’t think there’s a single word which expresses this in English, but “elitist”, “opportunistic”, “self-serving” and “parasitical” go some of the way.
