LOJ is the left wing version of a dog whistler. Attempting to link bigotry against Muslims with an article about clinicians who are concerned about the health of children is pathetic and transparent.

I'm fairly sure he has not read the articles nor has a Times subscription to do so, even though I would have thought it important for all journalists to follow a range of sources.

Nope. He's quite clever and just following the same model of self employment as Katie Hopkins, Rachel McKinnon, Titania McGrath etc (though at least Titania is open about it).

None of these people really believe all the stuff they write. They don't spend time and energy carefully considering their position. They write whatever is zeitgeisty with the market segment they have targeted and try to be as controversial as possible to get attention.

I think it will probably take 10-15 years or so but I am pretty sure it will happen. Section 28 was not about medicalising kids and telling them a falsehood, making them infertile and rendering them susceptible to cancers and other diseases. This has nothing to do with gay people. LOJ is awful. I went to a theatre performance several years ago featuring short plays about peoples’ coming out experiences. He was on a Q&A panel afterwards. Woke friends were super excited but I’d never heard of him. He ranted on for a full 10 minutes about how homophobia is rooted in misogyny, yet failed to mention lesbians’ experiences even once. On the way out I told my oh so woke friends that he just came across as a misogynist himself, and he didn’t give a shit about lesbians. I was roundly chastised of course. My first impressions Of him have not altered one iota.

Absolutely. Of course mainly I want this madness stopped because I don't want any more children to be permanently damaged in the name of a misogynistic and homophobic ideology. But I'd also really really like to see OJ's nose rubbed in just how awful he has been. Petty, yes.

What is his actual point?

Other than ‘everyone who disagrees with me is a hateful bigot and should not express their views.’ Which isn’t hugely compelling.
