How can he be so obtuse? I can only assume he has never spent time with children?

I'm a bit with you @BuzzShitbagBobbly

not a mark on him on tv yesterday........ but you'd think after such a brutal attack as described on social media there would at least be some red mark/scratch/bruise somewhere no?

FazakerlyJackie · 19/08/2019 14:20

NAGS TOJ

(Not all gay sons thinklike OJ.)

Thank fuck.

Goosefoot · 19/08/2019 14:27

He ought to have gone to a doctor if he was kicked in the head, he could have a concussion. Maybe he talked to someone though, a medic or whatever.

RoyalCorgi · 19/08/2019 15:44

Some violent attackers are very good at assaulting people in a way that doesn't leave a physical mark. This is what happens to a lot of women who are domestically abused, unfortunately.

But I am surprised he didn't go to a doctor if he was kicked in the head. Untreated head injuries can be really dangerous - look at Natasha Richardson.

ArranUpsideDown · 19/08/2019 15:56

Interesting and wholly on-point contribution from Julie Bindel:

Text for anyone who can't see Twitter image:

I am appalled at the attack on Owen Jones. That statement is unequivocal and without reservation. It has been impossible for me not to be affected by the stark contrast in the way some media reported on the assault on me back in June. I was pretty much blamed and disbelieved.

We need to be honest about what is happening here. Press reports do not come out of the clouds. Headlines and standfirsts are not written by robots. Victim blaming of women is a political act.

I was sure I had read somewhere that he had been punched, bleeding, to the ground. However, even if he has no visible injuries, he should have sought medical attention, having been kicked in the head. You can get bleeding to the brain away from the injury site that does not show up immediately.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 19/08/2019 16:31

And yet I understand he was up bright and breezy appearing on tv the morning after, and passing comments to press outlets quite readily.

Also no word on any of his mates who were also allegedly assaulted by this pack of violent military style men.

Ambroise · 19/08/2019 16:46

A little article highlighting Owen’s ambivalence towards violence:

Floisme · 19/08/2019 17:29

I'm going to stick to condemning the attack and wishing Owen Jones a speedy recovery. I'm sure something like that must shake you up badly, even if you appear to have got away without injury. If Jones has previously made comments about the use of violence that now appear compromising then that's his problem and it doesn't alter my own stance.

SunsetBeetch · 19/08/2019 17:34

Same Floisme. Hopefully he will think on, though.

VickyEadieofThigh · 19/08/2019 17:55

It would also be wonderful to see people condemn, for example, the attacks on Maria MacLachlan, Helen Steel and Julie Bindel. There were some people who tried to claim that Maria provoked the attackers. OJ was one of them. I hope all of us can rise above that kind of victim-blaming.

Quite. I abhor violence. It would be nice for OJ to be less selective in his abhorrence of it, too.

RaRaRainbow · 19/08/2019 20:21

Apparently he said a bunch of men beat him up.

I just wonder how he knew they were men, did they tell him how they identified or did he just assume their gender.

Feel very sorry for him being beaten up and of course it's wrong. He knows what a man is when the chips are down though.

Bespin · 19/08/2019 22:17

really sad to see that people are not willing to beleive someone when they are assaulted and that they don't wish to condeum the people that did it, as is so often asked of people on here.

Bespin · 19/08/2019 22:19

also I sulute anyone who does put aside differences to condeum this and it is hearting to see many do so but why the doubts it ouccured?

Caucho · 19/08/2019 22:24

I’m sorry but I just don’t buy his account of the attack. I doubt it’s completely fabricated but seems to have been embellished somewhere down the line. I doubt a beating planned with military precision by a group of four far right thugs would have resulted in no injuries other than a barely visible bruise on and an arm and a couple of scratches.

He probably was accosted. Maybe a few homophobes or people who just didn’t like him. It’s not impossible he’s told the truth but seems to be massively over egging the pudding or his far right attackers are the softest and most polite far right thugs ever

Royal Corgi I'm assuming your comments about some men becoming adept at not leaving marks relates to domestic violence where a husband for instance is recurrently assaulting a partner and doesn’t want there to be any visible evidence to show. I doubt an anonymous military trained far right group would be too concerned about that. ‘Let’s beat the shit out of him but don’t leave any marks’. Surely mark or no mark he’d still treatment from such a vicious pre-medicated attack

Datun · 19/08/2019 22:36

Barefaced lying over violence and attacks is the hallmark of transactivism (razorblades, fake cut fingers, speakers corner, etc).

It's very sad if that sort of transactivism produces scepticism. I wish they wouldn't do it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 22:36

If four men beat me up I’d be in hospital. And if I’d been kicked in the head I’m sure there would be a mark.

Caucho · 19/08/2019 22:41

It’s complete speculation but he probably was with his gay pals hugging and kissing when saying his goodbyes and a few oiks took offence. Considering how violent London can be these days he frankly is very lucky to be left so unharmed. I’m not condoning violence at all by the way but he is definitely bullshitting and trying to make the most of it. Politicers gonna politic. If the police want to catch the attackers then they should release the CCTV and make an appeal to the public

Datun · 19/08/2019 22:42

I hope they do. Homophobic violence seems to be on the increase.

Caucho · 19/08/2019 22:49

It certainly is or at least being reported more now gay people are less likely to hide in the shadows. Recent publicised cases have been horrific in their level of violence this group of four motivated thugs showed remarkable restraint. Almost unheard of levels

exLtEveDallas · 19/08/2019 22:52

We aren't the only people questioning it GrinGrin

He's being called the British Jussie Smollett on twitter.

Caucho · 19/08/2019 23:05

He’s been given a shoeing on Twitter which isn’t surprising given he’s banned most of them from his account. Lots of Jussie Smollet memes.

To reiterate I don’t believe he’s made the whole thing up - to give him credit he won’t be that stupid. He’s basically guessing it was a targeted far right attack.

Might even believe it himself but that doesn’t mean it was. Pure speculation now being reported as fact. If it is true they obviously didn’t intend to really do him in. Suppose it would make sense as a warning but I’m surprised they wouldn’t just go all in. What sort of Nazis are these guys?
