Thanks Caro

Good move imo Caro. Twitter has a tendency to suck people in. Leave the people who enjoy it being their whole life to it.

GeordieGenes · 03/05/2019 12:27

Out of interest, was yesterday the first time you met Stephanie face-to-face Caroline?

(I know they came to your doorstep a few days ago, but as you didn't interact with them, I don't think it counts)

BBC, 'Judge stops transgender Twitter row'
(extract)

A judge has told a transgender lawyer and a Catholic journalist involved in an "out of control" Twitter row not to mention each other online.

Trans woman Stephanie Hayden has been granted an injunction against Caroline Farrow after a "barrage" of tweets.

At a High Court hearing in London, Mr Justice Bryan also asked Ms Hayden to not mention Mrs Farrow, and she agreed.

The judge said tweets sent by mother-of-five Mrs Farrow, whose husband is a priest, had "crossed the line".

An interim injunction bans Mrs Farrow from mentioning Ms Hayden, in particular from "misgendering" her, by referring to her as male when she is legally female." (continues)

This is compelled speech. If the judge thinks that they can force people to use pronouns in this way, they should cite which law compels this. I know of none. I will never use she for males.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/05/2019 13:20

Funny how you can't call a goose a gander these days without ending up in court but you can call someone a cow, bitch, etc etc etc.

Datun · 03/05/2019 13:36

Funny how you can't call a goose a gander these days

It's calling a gander a gander tho.

VickyEadie · 03/05/2019 13:45

I won't 'preferred pronouns' anyone - like others, I'm skilled in using the name, initials or 'they'.

Needmoresleep · 03/05/2019 13:56

This is compelled speech

So where do you draw the line. The labrador who is scared of men is very likely to misgender, as is a six year old child. Or my 90 year old mother with dementia.

I got my first ever deletion higher up this thread for misgendering. Absolutely did not mean it. However correct gendering sometimes end us being deliberate, rather than natural. People can slip up. (There was that great US clip of a transwoman demand of a hapless shop assistant that he got her gender right. And I think Lily Madigan has complained of misgendering by someone like a delivery driver.) Control of language in this way is a very slippery slope.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/05/2019 14:05

'Refer to a legally defined gander as a goose'. Or is it the other way around?

Needmoresleep · 03/05/2019 14:15

Straight to the gallows for you fecko.

Not knowing your goose from your gander is surely a hanging offence. (However over promoted you are.) .

Datun · 03/05/2019 14:19

According to KF the blog set up to harass and insult her has been deleted.

So yesterday's proceedings are having a positive effect. Finally.

PinaGrigio · 03/05/2019 14:52

Caro, take good care and enjoy your break. Flowers

NotTerfNorCis · 03/05/2019 14:58

According to KF the blog set up to harass and insult her has been deleted.

That's odd, if it was nothing to do with anyone involved in the case.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 03/05/2019 15:01

I do love the way the Streisand effect is playing in in the articles about the court case. Mention of people's spent convictions, association of them with being male, exposure of their bullying...its all very clear for people to read.

GirlDownUnder · 03/05/2019 15:06

Yep that nasty, cheap blog has gone.
And haddock has deleted a couple of unjudicious (sp?) tweets.

I’m hoping Caro has not only stepped away, but is also not watching, because already the faux pity from the hangers on has started which is shit. But isn’t it Grey Rock from here on out?

Caro you might be silent, but you are not quiet.

BettyDuMonde · 03/05/2019 15:12

That might be because KF put the website owners details online (including a link to the dude’s Instagram account - he likes very fluffy dogs and lives with his mum 😂)

Datun · 03/05/2019 15:19

Got it. I hadn't realised that was him.

LizzieSiddal · 03/05/2019 15:23

he likes very fluffy dogs and lives with his mum

Who’d have guessed that?!
