Anyone come across this?

I've spotted a number of my brilliant, supportive, liberal, respected colleagues on there Sad

One of the comments is a prospective student threatening to "drop kick" TERFs at their institution Sad

Hmm. Making lists of wrong thinkers. Pretty sure that's not at all sinister or worrying, and that there are no historical precedents Hmm

I'm a bit gutted that my university isn't on the list Sad

littlbrowndog · 18/03/2019 13:36

Jeez what an idiot

Not safe 😂😂😂

What do they think is going to happen to them.

They might have their brain that is the only danger

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/03/2019 13:37

How can these utter idiots write these lists, scatter them with threats of violence and still be convinced they are the good guys?

littlbrowndog · 18/03/2019 13:38

To use their brain

Mine appears to have run away as well

DirtyDennis · 18/03/2019 13:42

I too am disappointed that my university isn't on the list.

The list does, counter-intuitively, provide good recommendations for people to follow on Twitter Grin

Two things:
There are several obvious names that aren't on there. (Obviously, I'm not going to list them.) But it suggests their research isn't very good.

And secondly, they are not offering their followers any hint of a way of verifying the evidence for themselves. Wikipedia at least has references, or "citation needed" when there aren't good enough references. This list is explicitly saying, I've done the work for you, just trust me. Long gone are the days when university students could be expected to say, show me the proof.

Not just bad, but bad on so many levels.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 18/03/2019 13:48

Those students threatening to physically attack (mainly women) university staff need to not only be denied a place at the university but prosecuted for threatening behaviour and blacklisted for life from HE.

dianebrewster · 18/03/2019 13:49

Well their info on me is 7yrs out of date.

beagadorsrock · 18/03/2019 13:50

This needs to be exposed. The witch-hunt is on

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 18/03/2019 13:50

A list, theres absolutely no historical precedent for that, amirite?

That smug feeling you get when you know you are on the Right side of history.

Hellmistress · 18/03/2019 13:50

I didn't like the sound of "taking down our Bath Spa TERF quick as possible" either. There are two women named on that list from Bath Spa.

BishooWishoo · 18/03/2019 13:52

Just heard about this, I'm in a FB group for women academics and one of them has found herself on it and the advice seems to be that she should "politely ask to be removed and strongly express her support for transwomen, because they're only acting in self-defense by adding people to the list". Horrific.

BreakWindandFire · 18/03/2019 13:54

There's a current Bath Spa student in that list threatening to 'take down' a female lecturer there.

I'd suspend her immediately for threats of violence.

DirtyDennis · 18/03/2019 13:55

I agree that any prospective student threatening violence against any future lecturer needs to have their offer revoked.

@BishooWishoo That's horrific (love your name Wink )

OP posts:
TurboTeddy · 18/03/2019 13:55

I'm wondering if the people on that list know about it. What an incredibly irresponsible thing to do. It just looks very sinister, it's a thinly veiled threat against anyone with GC views; if you speak out we'll publish your name on line to encourage unknown thugs to do what they will. When is anyone in authority going to take a stand against this kind of harassment?

ATailofTwoKitties · 18/03/2019 13:56

Those sound like sensible places to suggest to my daughter, then.

I'm assuming from the names I recognise that these are not 'transphobes' in the sense of people who would physically hurt trans people, but in the sense that they recognise biological differences.

I may be about to make a pest of myself at some university open days.

hackmum · 18/03/2019 13:59

Wow. They really are deranged, aren't they?

Imagine all those bright young 17 and 18 year olds all over the country deciding not to apply to Oxford because Michael Biggs and Selina Todd are there...

RedDogsBeg · 18/03/2019 14:00

Now I wonder if any Police Force would care to investigate that ? Oh wait! what was that that just flew past my window.

This list and the comments are appalling and the author and contributors to it should face consequences.

That is chilling BishooWishoo. This whole thing is totalitarianism on acid.

TurboTeddy · 18/03/2019 14:00

Bish that is truly horrific but it acknowledges the threat these people pose; the only way to stay safe is to grovel and acquiesce. Do you mind if I ask where that advice came from? It certainly not a supportive way to advise anyone to deal with bullies. I hope the person you know who was given this advice is OK.

DirtyDennis · 18/03/2019 14:00

@ATailofTwoKitties

Most definitely encourage your DD to those places. Many of the women I know personally on this list are brilliant academics, incredibly supportive of all their students (women, men, and trans students) but have been standing up for women's sex-based rights.

As someone who runs our Department open days, please don't make too much of a pest to the people from departments who're the face of their department - seek out the people higher up in the University!

OP posts:
BreakWindandFire · 18/03/2019 14:01

The student, Amari Dare, at Bath Spa has edited her threat of violence to a promise to 'rectify the situation'. Hmm

Too late. We saw it.

TurboTeddy · 18/03/2019 14:01

Thank you Badpenny.

hackmum · 18/03/2019 14:03

Have people looked at the rest of the page? It's chilling stuff.

Katvonmythicbiowoman · 18/03/2019 14:03

Oh they like their little lists don't they?

I've reported to Facebook for harassment
