I can't see another way of interpreting his comment other than WTF is RM on about?"

Well done LC, but why aren't more sportsmen commenting on shit like this?

ShatnersWig · 11/03/2019 10:57

@sarahjconnor Interesting debate on the radio last week over Amber Rudd using the words "woman of colour" about Diane Abbott and how that term is completely unacceptable. Yet the NAACP still decline to change their name.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/03/2019 10:58

@GeorgeTheBleeder - can you explain then?! Quite a few folk on here making vaguely arch comments about this but it's clear that you're going to have to spell it out for me and the rest of the thickos Grin

What other interpretation could there be to the WTF instead of 'WTF you absolute loon, no black women are not the same as transwomen'

Aeroflotgirl · 11/03/2019 10:59

His comment was clearly aimed at the stupidity of TheBlaze comment. No comparison, black women, and white women have still the same chromosomes, transwomen are biologically male.

Lweji · 11/03/2019 11:00

I'm with LC. WTF.

A better comparison would be able people not being able to compete against in paralympics if they identify as disabled.

Although, as things are going, I envision that most sport will become more like martial arts and weight lifting, and in some way like the paralympics.
To be truly fair, we may need to divide by weight/height/muscle mass categories rather than by things like sex.

None, surely?

M4J4 · 11/03/2019 11:04

I hope he tweets again clarifying why that statement is so ridiculous.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 11:06

Does he need to? I also need the alternative spelling out for me.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/03/2019 11:07

Cheers @GeorgeTheBleeder - yep I agree. This is what I don't get - your post -

There is something so distasteful about this thread - and the evidence of how some posters are just slightly, but crucially missing the point - that I really, really wish I hadn't opened it.

How are people slightly missing the point?!

EcclesThePeacock · 11/03/2019 11:08

To be truly fair, we may need to divide by weight/height/muscle mass categories rather than by things like sex.

If you went by weight/muscle mass, how would you account for the normal difference in fat:bone:muscle ratios between men and women? Muscle mass would put a woman who'd trained hard in the same category as a bloke who hadn't. Humans are dimorphic, whatever other categories we might want to layer on, this is the one which is clear.

RM, a white male, is doing a brilliant job at peak transing the world of sport. Smile

FizzyGreenWater · 11/03/2019 11:14

Agree, she's a one willy mission.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 11:15

Mirri do you get it? Can you explain it. No one seems to

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 11:15

Seems to want to I mean

DoNotBlameMeIVotedRemain · 11/03/2019 11:18

The world has gone mad. Clearly Linford is one of the sane ones.

Lweji · 11/03/2019 11:18

Humans are dimorphic, whatever other categories we might want to layer on, this is the one which is clear.

It is clear in the sense that it's qualitative (dichotomous), but smaller framed people in their own sex are at a disadvantage too.
It can be argued that smaller framed men do not possess an advantage over larger frame/taller women.

The issue of transgender people in sports may well lead to a redefinition of how we separate sports categories, that's my point. How it will be achieved, I'm not sure. There will never be a truly fair way.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/03/2019 11:19

SPB come join me in the thicko corner.

There's a dark undercurrent apparently but nobody will say what it might be Hmm

RiverTam · 11/03/2019 11:19

to be fair, I think it's just a couple of posters at the top of the thread seemed to not get what LC was saying - everyone else seems to understand that he's ShockShockShock at RM's racist attempt to shore up RM's position. Which, given that we all surely know how TRAs will appropriate anything and everything, is no real surprise.

This is catered for in the sports with weight divisions (combat sports). It certainly will not lead to mixed sex combat sport categories.

Genderwitched · 11/03/2019 11:22

This thread is ridiculous,it's completely obvious what he means. Whoever is interpreting it otherwise is being deliberately dense, for what reason I don't know.

RockyFlintstone · 11/03/2019 11:23

Yes, I'm another one totally confused by people not understanding what LC meant but also then the 'distasteful' references. I think it's pretty clear what LC was saying in that tweet but I can (just about!) see how it may have been misinterpreted.

But I think we can safely assume that LC is sitting with us on the 'McKinnon is a loon' bench!
