Julia Long asking Munro Bergdorf about child exploitation

happydappy2 · 19/02/2019 13:27

Julia Long was asked to leave the venue, after asking MB if it was normal that an 11yr old child dancing in front of adults, has money thrown at them by grown men. This was at Transmission & was deemed an offensive question....video footage on twitter of the incident.....worth a watch, sorry I can’t link to it but hope someone else can.

Munroe is seriously out of their depth and would do well to realise their limitations and pay close attention to what is being said here. This is a wrong side of history nobody will want to find themselves on.

WeRiseUp · 21/02/2019 17:03

Munroe has a disproportionate platform because of the 'trans' status and is invited to be a spokesperson on areas out of Munroe's depth - eg, women's rights.
In that sense, Munroe is being set up to fail.
The pervs and MRAs bankrolling the whole thing dont care.

RockyFlintstone · 21/02/2019 17:07

Yes, it will be very interesting how this plays out.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 21/02/2019 17:32

Munroes raging narcissism will filter out any concerns that are not directly Munroes. They won’t be able to help themselves but to double down or ignore anything that counters their narrative.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 21/02/2019 20:47

This is a helpful thread. I’ve just been talking to some old Catholic friends about the pope’s meetings about child abuse. They fear renewed persecution of gay priests. This thread really helped me re-centre their thoughts on the children.

WeRiseUp · 21/02/2019 21:23

This thread really helped me re-centre their thoughts on the children.

That's good to hear.

PrestonsFlowers · 22/02/2019 00:06

I'm delurking to agree with so many things Lang Cleg has said, I'm so very grateful for all your posts also R0Wantrees for all,of your many posts, both of you have really opened my eyes to what's happening in the world of safeguarding children. I don't have young children but I do have grandchildren and I'm very concerned about their future.
I'm also really pissed off with the mealy mouthed bollocks spouted by Mumsnet on this thread. To delete posts because they reference outside links that have comments that misgender precious people. As pp have said this is coercive control, it's fucking ironic that there is an advert running on this site warning about walking on eggshells.
@MNHQ you should read this thread and realise that you've been played like a fish and you've taken the bait. Misgendering is not more important than safeguarding children.

Observer article today highlights the impact of leverage by some transactivists as senior clinicians whistle blow safeguarding and duty of care failings within the service:

'Governor of Tavistock Foundation quits over damning report into gender identity clinic
Decision expected to intensify scrutiny of service accused of ‘fast-tracking’ young people'
(extract)
The trust running the country’s only NHS gender identity service for children is under fire for dismissing a damning internal report that branded it “not fit for purpose”.

Marcus Evans, one of the governors of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has resigned, after accusing its management of having an “overvalued belief in” the expertise of its Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) “which is used to dismiss challenge and examination”.

Evans’s decision to part company with the London-based trust, after a 35-year association, will intensify scrutiny of the service which has found itself in the eye of a storm as thousands of young people considering transitioning to another gender seek its help" (continues)

Dr David Bell, written in his capacity as then staff governor, which warned that “the GIDS service as it now functions [is] not fit for purpose and children’s ends are being met in a woeful, inadequate manner and some will live on with the damaging consequences”.

In his report, which was submitted to the trust’s board earlier this month and whose findings were first reported in the Observer last year, Bell expressed concern that the service was failing to fully consider psychological and social factors in a young person’s background – such as whether they had been abused, suffered a bereavement or had autism – which might influence their decision to transition. Such views are dismissed by many transgender rights activists who believe they play little, if any, part in a person’s desire to transition." (continues)

Gosh, another screen shot of the Walking on Eggshells video alongside MN users having to walk on eggshells. Who'da thunk it?

Has this film been linked yet? Apologies if so.

Desmond has been referred to social services I believe.

I hope respond grows up to be an accountant with 2.4 kids, a boring wife and a Labrador with a nice house in the commuter belt.

His parents would be beside themselves (where did they go wrong??)

RockyFlintstone · 25/02/2019 11:20

Jesus, that footage of him talking about the ketamine, and that footage of him with that piece of shit Alig.

Sad

Mum seems to be doubling down on Insta about the gay bar thing, and is posting as usual so I don't know if he has been referred?

dunnowhatillcallmyself · 25/02/2019 11:34

This is I think on the YouTube account - I can't see it as not a subscriber.

I HAVE GOOD NEWS EVERYONE.
A lot of people were telling me I can’t just talk about this if I’m not going to do anything to help Desmond. And I agree. So I called NY CPS and reported his situation. At first I was told I didn’t have enough information (since I’m out of state and don’t know him personally) to make a case. The lady said she can’t make an official report unless I have an address to investigate. I was upset and we ended the call. Then I stalked around online for a while and found both parents potential addresses. I called back and gave them to the operator. She told me that they could now look into it.
I’m really hoping for the best here. I really do care and its completely untrue to say I don’t. Thank you everyone who listened to what I had to say, and I’m so glad it’s being looked into.

That video dunnowhatillcallmyself

Bloody hell.

How have we got this far? The woman doing the narrating, despite her utter conviction that something is wrong, still has to apologise and hold back throughout. Still worried that her concern will be misconstrued.

A kid talking about drugs filmed with a convicted killer who injected fucking Draino into someone's veins so they died an agonising death???!!! After smacking him over the head with a hammer, though.

And then Desmond says his greatest fear is dying by murder. And the mum replies that it wouldn't be that scary, at the same time as having an obsession with the Draino killer?

Dear god. Twerking for money on stage is beginning to look almost minor in comparison.

hipsterfun · 25/02/2019 11:36

JFC, that video is seriously disturbing.

I see what she sees, I’m afraid. Plain sight.

Datun · 25/02/2019 11:40

The tea thing. Definitely. I'd stake my mortgage.

Vixxxy · 25/02/2019 11:40

Doubling down would be a usual response for people just seeking attention, I think anyway. And honestly, thats how I view this whole sorry story. Adults taking advantage of an impressionable kid for their own reasons. I think Mum just wants publicity. Sorry I really dislike being negative about parents (especially mothers as they always seem to bear the brunt of it) but I really cannot see how any responsible parent would allow, nevermind encourage this. I can only conclude that the attention and publicity is worth more than the child being exploited.

RockyFlintstone · 25/02/2019 11:42

Yes, that tea thing, and he looks so out of it Sad

Datun · 25/02/2019 11:43

This is part of the issue that bothers me. The deniability. When people's own experience, intuition, and frankly eyes, will perceive a problem.

But without the gotcha moment, people are wriggling out.

We have threads/comments on here which are clearly about creeps and perverts, but without some kind of irrefutable, solid gold proof, it can be denied, reported and deleted.

I'm guessing we are talking about circumstantial evidence with regards to Desmond? Except how do you actually define sexualisation? Twerking on stage must be it, surely.

R0wantrees · 25/02/2019 11:45

Desmond has been referred to social services I believe.

His mother has commented that a great many calls have gone to the US equivalent of Social Services.

This could have the opposite effect than intended where welfare of the child is the key concern as high levels of perceived hostility towards him and his family will also be identified as risk.

RockyFlintstone · 25/02/2019 11:45

If this situation is investigated and it comes out that some serious shit has been happening, Munroe Bergdorf is on record, clear as day, saying that what Desmond was doing is 'completely normal' and everyone else who was in that room with Julia has been recorded booing Julia for questioning it.

Not a good look, people. Not. A. Good. Look.

dunnowhatillcallmyself · 25/02/2019 11:48

I'm starting to really struggle emotionally with all this.

RockyFlintstone · 25/02/2019 11:48

How can anyone in CP services watch footage like that which is in that YouTube video and not at least investigate?

I am a primary teacher and I'm pretty sure that if a Year 6 child came into school the way that Desmond was in that video with Alig, or if a child simulated snorting ketamine in class, it would be immediate referral?

dunnowhatillcallmyself · 25/02/2019 11:49

This could have the opposite effect than intended where welfare of the child is the key concern as high levels of perceived hostility towards him and his family will also be identified as risk.

This is concerning. I hope there's careful analysis.

R0wantrees · 25/02/2019 11:50

Regardless of any specific determination of abuse, the response from anyone booing, minimising, attempting or facilitating attempts to silence legitimate Safeguarding concerns for children is a serious failing (and never a good look)
