Womb transplants for trans women are a human right, says surgeon

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/transgender-women-should-entitled-womb-13972102

"Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility, such as congenital absence of a womb, then it would be illegal to deny a trans-female who has completed her transition.

"The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.
Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

I think some of this is deliberate. Complain to the police. Reported "hate crimes" rise. Ergo more resources are needed, more Mermaids training is needed, more Stonewall diversity advice is commissioned and there is a general impetus to prioritise measures to reduce hate.
Definitely. Hate crime reported anonymously to organisations (plus maybe the org adds on another 25% for good measure, not like anyone checks) and police reports for spurious complaints generate the headlines.

"Anti-mumsnetter hate crime soars by 40%"
-Has it?
-Hang on, let's look at the arrest/charge/conviction stats.
-They're not up 40%! The police aren't doing their jobs! We have a crisis! More funding/training/let's have a Mumsnet outreach officer or twelve!

And the 40% was never real but the outcome is.

Ereshkigal · 14/02/2019 14:10

This call to report was made explicitly by James Morton (influential TRA in Scotland) and recorded in an article. I will try and find it later.

Yes I remember James (FTM) said "we need the stats".

R0wantrees · 14/02/2019 14:20

Yes I remember James (FTM) said "we need the stats".

Times article by Elizabeth Burden January 24 2019
'Principal backs transgender students over ‘hurtful’ stickers'
(extract)
She claimed that transgender activists encouraged people to report individual stickers as hate crimes to maximise the number of alleged offences. On Facebook last November, James Morton, the Scottish Trans Alliance (STA) manager, responding to a comment on the Edinburgh stickers, said: “Please log it by reporting on the Police Scotland online hate crime form. We need the stats.” Vic Valentine, a policy officer for STA, said: “If people feel distressed by transphobic stickers, we encourage them to report [it] to police. We want to improve trans people’s confidence in approaching the police.”

Kai O’Doherty, the Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s vice-president for welfare, said the stickers were “not only hurtful to trans people, but are clear violations of policies against harassment and discrimination”. (continues)

Coach Your visit has made it on to twitter - just seen this message to you -

@robjessel

I'm not on Mumsnet, obvs, but if anyone else is, perhaps they could contact the OP and ask whether they're interested in joining the group to protest at the Police Federation annual conference in May? Not necessarily to attend, but to provide moral support / comment?

RetiredNotExpired · 14/02/2019 15:20

Coach

What a miserable & angering thing to happen to you. Glad it worked out OK.

If it was me, I would be complaining to all & sundry, including the fact that it appears they contacted you to talk about your 'hate crime' without even seeing what you were supposed to have said
The whole thing is fucking outrageous, but to take someone's word as to what was said, ie written down, on SM without even asking to see it is appalling.

Maybe instead of sending coppers on 3-day Mermaids courses they should be spending a few hours being taught common fucking sense.

VickyEadie · 14/02/2019 16:12

This.

Also, how many times do we know that various police forces have told people reporting actual crimes that there's 'nothing they can do' or the complainant is given a 'crime number' and that's the end of it?

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 14/02/2019 16:27

I know we mention Orwell and Huxley quite a bit, but some of this is needing a Kafka reference too.

Apollo440 · 14/02/2019 16:42

Please push back. These vexatious allegations are being used to push up 'hate incidents' to justify increased funding for diversity training and expansion for the likes of Stonewall and Mermaids. The sooner this is exposed the better.

Difference is, “hate crimes” tend to have a named suspect. That means it can’t be written off like in cases of theft where they have no clue who did it and no practical leads to find out who did.

If a suspect is identified then they have to gather the evidence available, take statements etc from both sides before deciding to write it off (or not).

It’s an extension of “we believe you”. If someone alleges a crime, be it rape, domestic violence, or anti trans “hate”, then it must be recorded as a crime and treated as such. The “victim” is believed, in every case.

Yes it’s crap for everyone in some cases. But the flip side is rape victims and abuse survivors should now be treated seriously in every case.

VickyEadie · 14/02/2019 17:30

the flip side is rape victims and abuse survivors should now be treated seriously in every case.

Hands up anyone who thinks that will now happen?

CoachBombay · 14/02/2019 18:56

Good evening all, thank you for your support and I do not wish to go "public" for personal safeguarding reasons that far outweigh anything else.

Today I have spoken on multiple occasions to the local police force, and tomorrow have a meeting with someone at the station regarding the whole fiasco.

I have been assured that there is now nothing on my criminal record, and I have sent an e-mail to my local MP regarding it, who has been quite responsive and we are arranging a meeting next week.

I'm not going to "let it lie" but I think some constructive meetings and a more quieter approach is serving me well right now.

I do know that the "report" has come from the other end of the country, and was submitted with "falsified" screen shots.

Screen shots of the actual account have been taken by the police, and the CPS are now involved regarding the other party who made the fake screen grabs and report.

I have had quite a few apologies today but I'm not accepting them as such till I can push somewhat for change or at least get my objection well documented.

It would appear that a TRA from God knows where is editing social media posts and then calling them in as a hate crime. Apparently I'm not the first to fall victim to this person's behaviour.

More fool them because technically I am the victim of malicious behaviour now. I am awaiting news over the upcoming weeks from the CPS on what action will be taken as I've made both a statement and a victim statement regarding last night's events.

So slowly but surely I'll get there.

CoachBombay · 14/02/2019 18:56

Apologies my paragraphs disappeared!!!! 😳

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 14/02/2019 19:10

My god Coach. Every day the TRAs seem to plumb new depths, aided by our increasingly ridiculous police.

DH has just asked me how long it is going to be before the police knock at our door for my science-based thoughts.

DoctoressPlague · 14/02/2019 19:12

Sounds encouraging, Coach, well done for not letting it lie.
I'm a bit shocked that someone would be so dumb as to send the police falsified screen shots!

IDoN0tCare · 14/02/2019 19:17

Oh well done, CoachBombay. You’re brilliant. 💐

Smotheroffive · 14/02/2019 19:23

.... rape victims and abuse survivors should now be treated seriously in every case oh yes, ha ha ha ha....

The word to consider being 'should'

LangCleg · 14/02/2019 19:25

Falsified screen shots? Oh, my giddy aunt.

RobJessel · 14/02/2019 19:37

Hi there! I am now on Mumsnet - please be gentle with me!

Here is a link to the proposed demonstration's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/events/473621493171714/

I can understand why people may not wish to disclose publicly that they're interested in attending, and I had originally made a private group. Problem was that people found it difficult to find the event on Facebook.

Open to any and all suggestions for how we can make a success of something that I feel very strongly about: protecting free speech and ensuring that police resources are not squandered on criminalising septuagenarians for wrongthink.

Twitter's a good place to get hold of me. If you'd like to remain anonymous to others, just DM me - I will never, ever disclose anyone's participation without their permission.

Thanks for your time!

R

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/02/2019 19:38

My goodness.

I have been assured that there is now nothing on my criminal record,

Now? So there would have been if you hadn’t followed up?

Good on you for doing this. If enough people push back this will make a difference

Bittermints · 14/02/2019 19:56

I'd be most interested to know if any gender critical person has been discovered falsifying screenshots and sending them to the police in the hope of getting a transactivist into trouble.

One thing I feel quite sure of, if that ever did happen, such a person would be condemned and disowned very rapidly by the vast majority of people with similar views.

R0wantrees · 14/02/2019 19:57

CoachBombay You will I'm sure because you are right to do this.

There is a serious need for all parties who have contributed your treatment to be identified & made accountable.

LangCleg · 14/02/2019 20:20
