"My vagina looked SO bad that my mom, sister, and the surgeons wouldn't even let me look at it. Eventually, I used a compact mirror to get a peak and all I could do was laugh. If only you guys knew.."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092971983996895232

"In life, everything is about attitude & perspective. Even though my vagina falling apart was the hardest thing I ever experienced, I knew that one day I would be fully healed & recovered. I had to adopt the mindset of my future self & know in my heart that everything would be ok."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092969159753850881

"I'm glad that this rare complication happened to me rather than to another trans individual. With the love & support of my family, it makes it easier for me to conquer a challenge like this. I can't imagine how devasting it would be for someone without that support system."

Jazz is talking about the multiple surgeries caused in large part because of the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

The 'devastating' effects are what Mermaids are campaigning for for thousands of UK children.

"I think there are more than 2 sexes but they're genetic abnormalities and not as common (after all hermaphrodites have always existed"

This is not really accurate. There are strictly two sexes, male and female, this relates to the biology of reproduction in that males produce sperm, females eggs.

There aren't exceptions to this.

What you do get are disorders of sexual development resulting in an abnormal phenotype (i.e. primary and secondary sexual characteristics). 'True hermaphroditism' is quite rare in terms of DSDs, and even in these cases you don't have people who can produce both male and female gametes.

In terms of development as 'male' or 'female', it seems that sex hormones are very important. Some people are born with genitals that appear female, but that's not hugely important in terms of gender identity, as if they have internal testicles then the male sex hormones produced in them at puberty will normally result in a male gender identity.

There are lots of cases of people who are not intersex lying that they are, this seems to be a popular thing with transgender people - disorders of sexual development are biological and testable, whereas transgender identity is not.

The statements by the surgeons are incredible.

Even now we have these amazing pictures of the clitoris - which took so long to be made (wonder why! not really lol) - men including surgeons still focus on the visible outer part of it which is a tiny part of it.

The ignoring of the massive internal structures in favour of looking at the sticky outy bit and saying oh look it's tiny! A bit of penis skin should do the job just as well and probably even better because of awesome male penis power is just rampant male as default writ so large it's visible from space.

Did anyone else realise that the Hippocratic Oath was updated and amended in 2017. I wasn't actually aware of that. There are some significant differences that I think give some leeway to these experimental types of surgeries under the premise of gender affirmation.

Like that sex education site where meg-john thingy said that clitorises and penises are "basically the same"

They are only basically the same if you ignore pretty much everything about them as they are completely different! Clitoris is only organ in male or female body which has no discernable function other than pleasure :D

After that awesome opener meg-john continued rather bafflingly that "most people lie somewhere in the middle" :D

Durex sponsor the content - they will be surprised ot discover the clitorises and penises are basically the same and most people have one that is about 3 inches long (irrespective of their sex).

Suck fuckwittery how do they write it with a straight face???

MiceSqueakCatsMeow · 08/02/2019 14:49

Hey Tinsel, I may not know as much about this as you do but I was quoting the surgeon on the documentary. I was not suggesting autogynaphilia at all! I feel offended that you think I was. Sad

TinselAngel · 08/02/2019 14:53

Mice, I wasn't suggesting this was your view, sorry if it came across that way x

FlyingOink · 08/02/2019 14:54

Thinking how puberty blockers affect the brain has completely changed my stance on all of this.
Two things peaked me on blockers. The long running battles that women prescribed blockers for early puberty have had (their bones are crumbling, spines, jaws, the lot) and the fact AbbVie/Abbot make several times as much money through sales of paediatric versions of the same products. They were also in trouble for breaking FDA rules too.
Lupron and related drugs should be thought of in the same way as Thalidomide or Primodos in my opinion. Not safe. Lupron is used in end-stage prostate cancer, I know someone who is taking it for that. The idea is that the cancer is fed by testosterone so reducing the testosterone levels slows tumour growth. He now has very low testosterone levels, but he's still going to die, so long term issues aren't relevant.
To use it in children, for whatever reason, and then ignore the side effects, is absolutely criminal.

MiceSqueakCatsMeow · 08/02/2019 14:57

Thank goodness! I was worried that I'd been unknowingly offensive. Thank you Tinsel. Thanks

Kismetjayn · 08/02/2019 14:59

@quietcontrarymary
Thank you for explaining this- how would people with these phenotype abnormalities be recorded nowadays? As in do they run tests to confirm a sex or go with the visible genitalia or what? God it must be so hard already without people lying about it.

Arnoldillo · 08/02/2019 15:03

Another point re the penis/clitoris difference is that there are huge long clitoral nerves structurally embedded in women's bodies - eg women experiencing orgasm by tensing their thighs etc. It's nothing like a penis!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/02/2019 15:06

The intersex community say they should be left alone and allowed to decide for themselves when they're old enough.

They used to do very early surgery (babies) and really fucked up a lot of people.

This has of course been co-opted by people who have no such abnormalities, in order to push for their wants. "Assigned at birth" was stolen from the intersex community, who really were assigned at birth, and with often major consequences.

Datun · 08/02/2019 15:07

Women's bodies really are so cool. It's offensive for a male surgeon to make assumptions about something that they will never, ever feel.

TinselAngel · 08/02/2019 15:11

What sensations inside the body could a penis tip orgasm provoke?

endofthelinefinally · 08/02/2019 15:13

Anyone who has had any kind of surgery knows that once nerves are cut you end up with altered sensation/numbness.
I had an operation near my head/face 40 years ago. It still feels numb over a large area.
I can't see how anyone could suggest that this wouldn't be an issue in an area with so many nerve endings.

TinselAngel · 08/02/2019 15:16

I don't want to FWR into the sex board, but I feel an orgasm in all those areas coloured yellow on Datun's picture.

The penis tip wouldn't be attached to all this stuff which doesn't exist in the male body.

All the bits men feel orgasm in won't be there any more, will they?

(I know I'm going on about this but it infuriates me).

LizzieSiddal · 08/02/2019 15:25

That picture is amazing and beautiful!

It should be widely circulated, so there is no doubt re the size and complexity of the clitoris.

Datun · 08/02/2019 15:35

I don't want to FWR into the sex board, but I feel an orgasm in all those areas coloured yellow on Datun's picture.

Me too. Well certainly the bit at the front and the bigger bit that goes round the back. I'm not sure about the spindly bits down the sides. But to be frank, I wouldn't say I'm at my most observant at the time 🤣

Kismetjayn · 08/02/2019 15:42

Do you? I don't! But always wondered if my early experiences had 'stalled' that a bit...

TinselAngel · 08/02/2019 15:46

Many of those bits were ahem, awakened, by my most recent boyfriend, in my forties. Blush

FlyingOink · 08/02/2019 15:48

Without being too graphic, what I thought was amazing sex in my early twenties wouldn't even pass for mediocre now

Datun · 08/02/2019 15:50

To be honest Kismetjayn and sorry if this is TMI, (like *tinsel^, I don't want this to morph into the sex board), it was something that came with age and, er, practice.

From what I can gather, all women are different. From those elusive multiple orgasms, to the fabled G spot.

I think the point is, which we can probably all agree on, is it's not something that any man can really understand. Apart from anything else, it's often bloody complicated!

And again, I'm so sorry for what happened to you.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/02/2019 15:51

I also have more and better orgasms now \I'm older

I think having kids seemed to change (improve) things somehow

Plus having a partner who cares about my pleasure

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/02/2019 15:54

"to the fabled G spot. "

The internal structures are not in exactly the same place for all women. Depending on how close they are to other bits they can be stimulated from inside / or not
Explains so many of the "mysteries" of women and sex
G-spot (some women will be able to stimulate internal parts of clitoris from that area some not)
Why different women like different things etc

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 08/02/2019 16:42

It's an absolute wave, crescendo of overwhelming feeling. I feel it right through my torso. I'm going to concentrate exactly where more next time. Grin

Thank you vibrators for bringing me that.

What's happened to jazz is so tragic

Datun · 08/02/2019 16:50
