Sorry, can’t get the share token to work, maybe someone else can? This might be in the sport section.

I was reading a really bizarre account on Reddit earlier of what a transwoman had learned being a woman was all about since transitioning. It entirely focused on high heels, nail polish, second hand underwear (!), going to the loo and wearing tights.

Current thread with important article by Sue Donym:

I googled Sandra Forgues and found these two videos. If any posters here can speak French, I would be interested to know what you think.
There seem to be some good interviews with colleagues, and with his (former?) wife in the first video.

OtepotiLilliane42 · 09/01/2019 10:07

Sorry, 'her' wife.

R0wantrees · 09/01/2019 10:21

Sorry, 'her' wife.
Forgues describes in the Times article that their marriage did not continue after the 'transition' and so she was only ever his (Wilfred's) wife, not hers (Sandra's)

AngryAttackKittens · 09/01/2019 10:24

Even in that short video the body language and mannerisms look so affected. Less "naturally feminine", more "Emily Howard".

R0wantrees · 09/01/2019 10:31

AAK I wonder how French women (adult human females) viewed the segment.

R0wantrees · 09/01/2019 10:36

The comments under the longer video clip, 'Sandra, une femme d'exception' seem (to my rusty school French) very affirming.

"merveilleuse!"

gendercritter · 09/01/2019 12:22

I think the article is one of the funniest things I've ever read. How embarrassing to have written it

OlennasWimple · 09/01/2019 13:01

What's the French for "Stunning and brave"?

FlyingOink · 09/01/2019 13:07

There'll be coat laying over puddles next.
You know, the chaps who flung their coats over puddles for delicate ladies to walk on probably later flung those coats at older washerwomen employed by the household, you know, sturdy, working class and invisible.
Presumably they didn't just throw the coats away after each puddle?

Of course, twas ever thus.

TheGoddessFrigg · 09/01/2019 14:17

Before, whenever she opened her mouth, the deep pitch of her speech did not match the feminine tenor of her thoughts and feelings

You see- I have the opposite problem. I have a proper women's voice - posh and high pitched- however I swear like a fucking trooper and like talking about science, DIY and sci-fi.

WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY FEMININE THOUGHTS?????

Vegilante · 09/01/2019 14:57

"Feminine tenner" - new slang for the British bank note featuring Jane Austen?

TheGoddessFrigg · 09/01/2019 15:18

Or feminine TENA- what I need after laughing at this.

DubBeGoodToMe · 09/01/2019 15:46

“Brace and Stunning” is a good taglibe for a sanitary commercial. Just sayin’. Instead of a woman rollerblading it could feature a lady daintily holding a tea cup whilst seating on a chair they didn’t carry.

DubBeGoodToMe · 09/01/2019 15:48

Ahem. BRAVE.

hackmum · 09/01/2019 15:59

WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY FEMININE THOUGHTS?????

This has been bothering me. Typical thoughts these days: how the hell am I going to meet all my deadlines? I wish the dog would stop bothering me. WTF is going on with Brexit? Is it lunchtime yet? Oh God, another email I need to reply to. I wonder if that new film with Olivia Colman is any good.

And so on. Are these feminine enough? Do I count as a woman?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 09/01/2019 16:01

Thats an epic fail hackmum

i dont think you sound feminine at all

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 09/01/2019 17:39

This is a brilliant take down of the article

TimeLady · 12/01/2019 08:06

Thanks for the link, MrsJamin.

And thank you, Times editors, for giving us such a subversive laugh.

Molly333 · 12/01/2019 08:09

Ellie yarrow Saunders - I'm so saddened by this ladies situation I urge you all to read her letter and tell others to keep her battle alive
